I visited the museum last month, and my initial reaction to NOT!Lady Eva from the Milverton dramatization was that she looks exactly like Terry Jones in drag. That really affected the experience, I tell you. I kept hearing ‘he’s not the Messiah, he’s a very naughty boy’ in my head throughout the rest of the exhibit.
I knew it would be cheesy. I was hoping it would be the right kind of cheesy. My hopes were fulfilled beyond my wildest dreams.
If you are planning to visit this place one day, and don’t want spoilers, let me just offer you the following advice: Go early. At noon, when we were finally admitted after waiting for at least half an hour in the broiling sun, the queue was already down the block. Since the museum itself takes about half an hour (we did it in 20 minutes due to time pressure…it’s a long story), I don’t recommend waiting in line for it any longer than that. It’s a tall, narrow, old-fashioned townhouse, so they don’t let in more than about 15 people at a time.
All right. Let me tell you about this ‘museum.’

Very well written. As a fellow Northern European, I recognize these sentiments all too well. We have a conservative government right now, but by US (Republican) standards they'd be regarded as moderate, even centrist. There's a part of me that wants to laugh at Trump, because he's like a cartoon villain, but the laughter gets stuck in my throat at the thought of him actually coming to power, and what it means in a wider context – if he's able to amass this support, what does that imply about USA as a nation? And what will the consequences be? Comedian David Mitchell described him well: "He’s built a campaign from gaffes alone. It’s like he’s found a way to make an incredibly strong suit of armour entirely out of chinks."
Those of us who can’t vote in the US presidential elections, but who are nevertheless indirectly but significantly affected by it, like to laugh at Trump. We like to point across the Atlantic, and shake our heads in incredulity that such an odious man, promoting such regressive, insular, arbitrary, hateful politics, could possibly be in the running. After all, there is nothing in the mainstream politics of north western Europe that is so far to the right as the current Republican Party; and if there was, we would write them off as fascists and consign them to whatever ugly, unpleasant, occasionally problematic hole they currently inhabit. We most certainly have anything like Trump. These two things - the horror show that is the GOP, and it’s caped, befanged arch villain, in what we consider a peer Enlightenment nation - inform our amusement and ridicule.
But it’s really not funny. There’s a reason why, in this part of the world, Trump’s politics would be considered the borderlands of fascism. It’s not just the breathtaking xenophobia; it’s all the rest, the savage economic politics, the poor hate, the homophobia, the weird obsession with guns and religion (which we just cannot comprehend), the warmongering, the sexism, the willingness to abandon the poor and the sick to poverty and death. And these are not simply cursory instincts, but deep, abiding, utter and as severe as it is possible to be. Trump is the figurehead of this movement, a movement that has significant numbers right across the US. This is not a tiny, unimportant fringe movement. This is a political movement that has a serious chance of winning the White House.
That’s not funny. That’s not something we should roll our eyes at. It’s terrifying, because it indicates that the problem lays not with Trump, but with some intrinsic quality of American culture. The most powerful nation in the world, the leader of the free world, a principal defender of Enlightenment values, is seriously considering handing the levers of power to a political movement that at its best an uncaring, truth hating, autocratic plutocracy and at worst a savage, illiberal theocracy.
None of us should be indifferent to that. We certainly shouldn’t be laughing.
Can't wait to see them in the flesh in two weeks' time 😍 I've seen Roger before, but not the other four.
It’s official! Fedal fam is going to the finals!!!
Fedal: Okay Stef and Domi, let's pack for travel
Fedal: Sascha, if you don't behave, we won't bring you on holidays
*Sascha behaves*
Fedal: Okay we're all going to London for Xmas
Maybe you should check out the term “fan service”. Destielers queerbait themselves, they don’t need any help from the show.
After seeing this anon ask, I realized that I didn’t have the actual gifs available. So I found them in this biased article.
Laver Cup should just compile a video of their inspirational speeches. Sascha even credited them with his final win. They’ve been such a united front. Incredible to watch. Who would have thought that LC2019 would top 2017?
They way these two coached their teammates all 3 days, motivated them, taught them how to never give up. I couldn't be more prouder.!!
I’ve seen more convincing acting in Ed Wood movies.
I've seen cartoon villains less corny than Misha's Lucifer
Bugs Bunny is making fun of him.
+1 to everything you said.
Seriously, if your first instinct upon meeting a famous person (whether it be musician, actor, athlete, whatever) that you like (or dislike, for that matter) is “what can I do to make this person uncomfortable” you need to step back and reevaluate your priorities. Pulling a prank like that would not be “hilarious”, but inappropriate and disrespectful.
I reported the company too, for encouraging harrassment. Hopefully they’re just trying to get some free publicity and nothing will come of this, because it could turn out incredibly ugly and embarrassing for everyone involved.
I was thinking of this prank some shippers intend to pull on Jensen by bringing him some lube for the San Diego comic con. That's a funny idea, don't you think so? I ship J2 and nothing else, but still it would be hilarious. He's such a prude and would bring him out of his shell more.
No, I don’t think it’s a funny idea. Not at all.
This isn’t about shipping at all, this is about making actors uncomfortable and I will never support that, never.
Do you know the definition of the word prude? Here it is for you:
Does that sound like Jensen to you? The guy who has had plenty of sexual scenes on Supernatural?
First of all, Jensen is not a prude. Jensen is more reserved, yes, but not a prude. Second of all, Jensen doesn’t need to be out of his shell anymore. He can come out of his shell as much or as little as he wants. He’s perfect just as he is. If he wants to come out of his shell more, he will and he will do so on his own terms. But he doesn’t have to, not by any means.
This whole prank is bizarre. When I first read it I thought it was some sick joke just on the internet, but when I saw that some people were actually planning on doing it I felt sick.
Jensen has done so much for this fandom and yet the Destiel shippers can never seem to respect him. That’s right, the Destiel shippers. I don’t like to ship hate - actually, I don’t ship hate and I’m all about letting people ship what they want to ship. But in cases like this shippers take it way too far and it is almost always the Destiel shippers in the Supernatural fandom that take things too far. Jensen has repeatedly expressed his dislike and discomfort of being asked shipping questions and even stated that he was thankful Dean and Cas had less scenes together in season 9 because it cut down on the shippers being insane and analyzing every little thing that happened.
If I found out any J2 or Wincest shippers were doing this I would report, block, and completely disassociate myself from those particular people.
But ignoring the shipping aspects of this prank, the fact that human beings think that it is okay to do this to another human being is disgusting. I mean really, who first had the brilliant (please note the sarcasm) idea to associate lube with ships, especially ships nominated for the fucking TeenChoice awards? TEEN CHOICE. Like yes, I’m sure all the 13 year olds that voted even know what lube is. It’s utterly bizarre and annoying as hell.
Respecting actors is something all people should do. Respecting actors who do as much as Jensen does for all of us should be a requirement. This man has been working on this show for over a decade. He has dedicated his life to it. He has turned down big movie rolls and other rolls for this fandom. He has attended conventions and put up with repeated questions and millions of pictures for fans. He takes time away from his daughter for this fandom. He puts everything he has into his acting for this fandom. He has shed blood, sweat, and tears for this fandom and yet certain people still can’t find the decency to give him respect. It’s baffling really.
If people actually go through with this prank, I honestly don’t know what I will do, what Jensen will do, what Jared will do, or what SPN will do. I have already reported the lube company on Twitter that is encouraging this. That’s right, they are reported and blocked. Yes, I am one measly person but hopefully others are doing it as well and it will at least mean something.
Respect our actors, respect their wishes, respect their privacy, and consider others before you even think of doing something so stupid.
Of all the dumb rivalries fought in the SPN fandom, “which wife do you prefer” has to be the dumbest. It’s even dumber than ship wars. I’ve been in several fandoms, and I’ve never ever seen fans give so much time to random bit players (which is what Gen and Dan are, despite the fact they’ve starred in the show, hurray for nepotism). It’s embarrassing. “Oh no, X-Files went downhill after S6, let’s send the actors’ respective others death threats”...that public outcry never happened. These ladies are nobodies. They’ve influenced nothing. Why does this fandom strive to give these already inflated egos an even bigger platform to demonstrate how pathetically out of touch with reality they are? The lack of perspective is puzzling. “OH, MY QUEEN! YOU’RE MARRIED TO MY FAVORITE C-LISTER!”
hahaha ...Danneel and Gen both post ab8 SPN ending around same time. And, the differences between both the post are so glaring. While one fakes an excuse of being dejected and spew some bs tagging only her husband. Other has a courtesy to thank the crew for the opportunity. i had more respect for D when i didnt knw her or whn she wasnt on social media that way i was able to overlook her attitude
Yeah she does this. She has a long habit of talking about the show like Jensen is the only one there. It just comes off very disrespectful and incredibly selfish. Same thing happened for the 300th party:
There’s no way this bunck of secod-rate performers willl outdo the Norwegian parodies (executed by some of Norway’s best comedians).

That Hillywood show is now asking fans to help them raise 25k to create a new parody video.
Wow, just wow
What exactly do they need money for? THEY are the ‘stars’ of the parodies. Their sets are cheap cardboard. I”m sure extras are their friends, so what exactly do they pay for?
They were affectionately referred to as "The Nike Twins" back in the really old days 😆 I'll ser if I can find the truly terrifying faceswap manip someone made.
Remember when once upon a time they shared a clothing sponsorship so they get to have extra 'involuntary' hang out times in Nike events aside from the ATP promotions, council meetings, matches, and oh the 100 TIMES THEY NEED TO SEE EACH OTHER DAILY??
Same!
I hate what he has done to the show I once loved.
And he managed a thing I never thought possible: I stopped watching the show.
Same. My main investment in the show has always been the relationship between the brothers, but Carver and his merry band of misfits (I’m not giving the writers a free pass regardless of Robbie ‘fanservice’ Thompson’s recent attempts at damage control, sorry) won’t quit until that bond is destroyed for good. Hey, they’re halfway there already. Contrived conflict (and teenage melodrama) is what this show currently thrives on. I was wondering when the blame game would begin, they’ve been uncharacteristically cordial this season. Fratricide in the season final? Or the (temporary) demise of another ‘fan favourite’? We’ll just blame it on the Mark and bring them back next season.
Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe they’ll come up with a plot twist that has everyone gasping in surprise. But it’s too late. Fuck you Carver, seriously. Who’d have thought that the guy responsible for one of my favorite eps in the show’s run would be the one to turn me against it?
I hope season 11 will be the last, because I think the show has been damaged beyond repair. A change of showrunner/writers won’t erase that.
Carver needs to be fired. I really really hate that guy.
