Ganesh Chaturthi Shubhakaamanaaha!
My first Ganesh Pooja in Bangalore, I had placed 'India that is Bharat' near the Ganapati idol we brought home.
This is my second one and I don't think I could've placed a book more fitting than this one.
you'll ace 'em all :)
now i haven't watched adipurush. but ive seen the teaser. ive seen the trailer. ive listened to the specific issues people have had with the movie.
and ive listened to the makers' poor excuses. one of which is, that this was made to cater to the younger generation.
and boy is that a disgusting excuse. how horribly condescending of them.
what are you trying to imply? the younger generation isn't gonna watch the Ramayana if there isn't truckloads of vfx in it and if the dialogues aren't grotesquely simplified? is that why you've made a low-quality high-budget movie? are you having some kind of pity on "this generation"? what an appalling excuse for your incompetence!
There's a reason why Ramanand Sagar's Ramayana of 1987 and Yugo Sako's Ramayana of 1992 are still so popular. The amount of research and hard work that would've gone into reducing such a nuanced and massive and revered epic into a series of 78 episodes or a movie with a run time of 2 hours, is unimaginable. Their popularity is because they understood the essence of the text and exercised their creative liberty within its essence.
How many of y'all have watched the homegrown animated movie "Hanuman" that came out in 2005? (not bal hanuman or whatever else, im talking about the OG) I was only 2 when it came out and I was obsessed with it. I was obsessed with Hanuman. He was essentially my favourite super hero. I would roam around with my dad's towel tucked into my chaddi, like a tail and i had a gadaa! a brown, plastic gadaa that my parents bought me and it was my favourite thing in the world!
and i knew that movie line by line. i said the lines as they parallelly played on the screen. how???? because the objective of the movie was simple - to tell the story of hanuman. the objective wasn't to babytalk the story of hanuman because kids are, well, kids. the movie is there on youtube btw, if you ever wanna (re)watch it.
i'll rant about ravan's potrayal in adipurush in another post. *sighs*
I am a Pluviophile. I love the sound of rain drops pitter pattering against the roof at night. It soothes my soul and reduces my stress. Distant cars passing through the lashing rain at midnight, the whipping wind against the window, chirping of crickets and the occasional barking of dogs far away. Have you ever felt the peace around you when the whole world sleeps and the only thing that accompanies you is the rain ? May be this is why I am an insomniac. I love the lonely quiet nights, i love the peaceful rain drops and I love this feeling of unexplainable comforting nostalgia.
Kanha, you beauty! ♥️🫶🏻
