so why didn't you stop me? why didn't you stop me
good to know before visiting
not to be frenchphobic but I saw in a realistic movie that they beat each other with Baggetts to the death over there đź’€ like just on any street, it's super common apparently, I would never travel to that country if I can avoid it, I'm just being honest like I wouldn't feel safe
Emilia Perez is a joke of a movie and the US should feel ashamed to claim it as some kind of artistic masterpiece worthy of film awards.
Is insulting to every single mexican who as suffered the violence and fear drug cartels enforce in our country. The absolute audacity of a group of foreigners without an ounce of respect making a caricature of something that actively keeps taking and ruining mexican lives is outrageous.
The phenomena of the missing people in latinamerica isn't a hot topic for you to explore in your experimental musical movie. The pseudo social commentary based on the most basic view of a problematic the creators clearly don't care enough to learn about is shallow and disrespectful.
This is the egotistical vision of a group of people who don't respect out culture nor our traditions nor our people, and who are actively dismissing our voices because their oscar bait bullshit movie is more important to them than the people they disrespected.
I really don't care how good you think the script is, or how "artistic" it may be, or if you liked the songs or if the main actresses (none of them mexican btw) gave the preformance of their life. This movie should not exist because it was made from the arrogance of "I'm gonna tell how things are and how they should be because I just know better despite the fact this isn't my country nor my culture and I didn't even bother to reseach."
And the result is a collage of insentive takes and stereotypes disguised as a "nuace and smart social commentary", triving off of the ignorance around what Mexico really is. Everything around this movie has been non-mexicans saying "we don't care what mexicans have to say, we did this movie because we really wanted to and we could."
I need more content of Le Comte de Monte CRISTO!!
If there was only certainty, and if there was no doubt, there would be no mystery, and therefore no need for faith. Let us pray that God will grant us a Pope who doubts. Let Him grant us a Pope who sins and asks for forgiveness. And carries on.
I am what God made me. And perhaps it is my difference that will make me useful. I think again of your sermon. I know what it is to exist between the world’s certainties.
I want you to consider something else giving the mutal hatred towards RBR we have at this point:
If this was the last race Sergio had in the team he will be leaving with one last insult. Horner called him a 'great servant for the team" for fuck's sake and no one seems to take issue with that. Helmut also stayed on tune calling him 'a helper'. IF, and I'm going to stress that if as much as I can because we know nothing about the talks or the situation, IF this was his last race and possibly last race in F1 he will be leaving with no respect given to him, no 'thank you' for the years he he worked for them, no 'it was nice' for all the WCCs and WDCs, no 'we'll miss you' for the faith and loyalty he showed even when they were stabbing him in the back, no 'we'll remember you' for the wins and podiums. Nothing. He won't get a send off he deserves, there will be no special helmets, no official tributes, no helmet swaps, no nice words from the commentators - he will leave exactly the way Horner and Marko want him to be - humiliated and alone. He deserved so much better for all his years in F1, for all the heart he gave this sport. But IF RBR wins this one, tere will be nothing. He will leave as the 'hired help' they signed him as and it's just vile. And that hurts.
The way RBR handled things with Checo this year is atrocious, and refering to him as 'the help'... I just can't believe the press allows the comments like is a normal thing.
With Checo they got the WCC twice, and the first 1-2 WDC in the RBR history; Max finally was champion with his help (and yes, Max is amazing, but without Checo winning in Baku things would have turned out different), and suddenly all those things are worthless, and now are spinning this to Checo and his 'mental health', like saying 'well, if he stays and we destroy him, it's all his fault, see? we are warning him'.
Checo deserved a goodbye, if this was his last race with the team. And it totally hurts, and seeing him in the interviews almost crying, it was so horrible. Like I said in a previous ask, I haven't seen him this devastated, not even when he was fired from Racing Point.
But what I'm sure is that this isn't the last time we see Checo in F1. Maybe he won't be in the Grid next year, but in 2026, because he claimed there's still things to do and he will retire when he wants.
However, if he leaves RBR, I hope that team flops and regrets everything they have done to Checo and Yuki.
Carlos Diehz as Cardinal Vincent BenĂtez/Pope Innocent in new stills from Conclave (2024) dir. Edward Berger
"Checo deserves to be free of the mental anguish and absolutely toxic work environment he experienced within Redbull and the racism/xenophobia from F1 as a whole and I hope he's happy"
and
"It's hard for this to not feel like bigotry succeeded today and racism will always beat down on POC to a mental and emotional level until they leave and it's hard to not be discouraged watching an icon of latino representation to have been pushed out so cruelly"
are two thoughts that can exist simultaneously.
Day five of sneakily logging in to see if there's any news.
Oh boy, today everything has been so active, that I'm baffled. I thought the FIA award thing was going to be the main source of news, but apparently we have:
Checo listed in the FIA entry list for the Grid in 2025. This is still a source of debate, as some claim is a fake image, since it's not posted in the FIA official website, but others claim it's official. This is the picture:
However, I did a google search instead of grading final papers, and here's the link for the picture. So it's in the FIA page, don't know where all the people claiming to be fake are coming from, if I found it just googling it...
Also, apparently this means nothing, as RBR can just take Checo's name back and put other driver at any time, but why? (and not sure if that's true, let me be clear).
A worker from RBR (not sure if a mechanic, to be honest) clarified that Checo has gifted them a bottle of tequila before, and this is not a bribery, and they are getting the bonus Helmut Marko kept crying about.
Zak Brown saying shit about Checo, I was expecting it sooner or later.
Max doing his community service before the FIA event. King.
And something unrelated to F1, but apparently Malcolm in the Middle will have new episodes!!! I'm so happy, it's one of my favorite TV Shows. So that gives me hope for the future.
So far... weird day.
Hasta aquĂ mi reporte, JoaquĂn. (Mexicans will get the joke, sorry, it was too good to let it pass)
13 nominations??? Even surrealism has limits, guys.
If they don't fire checo can we please not do the will they fire him all season again because I'm so fucking over it. Either do it or shut up about it. I genuinely can't take another season of the same shit every single week.
