Agent Carter fandom. For @laylainalaska. “You know you’ve got a cat sitting on your chest, right?” Daniel said.
Jack lifted his matted blond head up to glare at him, and wrapped the thick blanket tighter around himself. He did not remove the cat.
It stayed curled into a soft ball of grey fuzz, tucked somewhere between Jack’s shoulder and his ear, its pink nose barely visible, and one tiny paw hanging loosely on his chest. It was purring.
Jack on the other hand looked drenched from foot to toe. Thus the blanket, which he clutched to himself as he sat at the rear of a van.
“He rescued it,” Samberly offered gamely from inside the van, where he was crouched over some complicated-looking machinery.
Jack slowly turned to glare at Samberly.
“Shutting up now.” The other man put his nose down into his work.
Daniel pressed his lips together and composed his face, so that by the time Jack turned back around he was no longer in danger of cracking up with laughter.
“So it seems like you’re gonna live?” he said after he got his voice under control under the heated glare from Jack’s grey eyes.
“I fell in a river, I didn’t drown, therefore yes, I think I’ll live.” His tone dripped with sarcasm.
“Good,” Daniel said. “I’ve got relief efforts to supervise….” he trailed off.
The kitten made an aborted wriggle on Jack’s shoulder and he set his palm against its back to keep it from falling. His palm was large enough to cover the entire animal, which let out a pitiful meow as it settled more firmly against the warm human.
Daniel observed this impassively. Jack’s glare, if possible, burned hotter.
Daniel coughed to clear his throat. “Peggy’s in the thick of it. Yes, I’d better go find her now.” He swirled around and strode quickly away.
“Don’t even think about telling Carter!” Jack shouted in his wake.
Daniel pretended not to hear him.
“Jack Thompson, the kitten-rescuer,” Daniel said softly to himself once he was out of ear-shot, and shook his head. “Now I’ve seen everything.”

Law enforcement officers who fail to provide criminal suspects with Miranda warnings prior to questioning cannot be subjected to civil lawsuits for their omissions, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled on Thursday.
Justices determined by a 6-3 vote that receiving Miranda warnings — which notify individuals taken into custody of their rights to remain silent, speak with an attorney and ask for that attorney to be present during interactions with police — is not technically a protected constitutional right.
The court's classification means that individuals deprived of their Miranda warnings before criminal interrogations take place will not have a foundation to bring legal claims that allege their civil rights were violated after the fact. It effectively protects police officers against civil litigation while also limiting individual protections against self-incrimination.
"A violation of Miranda does not necessarily constitute a violation of the Constitution," wrote Justice Samuel Alito in an opinion reflecting the court's conservative majority. In light of that, Alito said such a violation could not "authorize a civil rights suit against a police officer."

but girls need to stop putting other girls down, what we need to be doing is supporting and loving each other
My mom had a shitty day at work today. Recently someone stole money from them so it has already been difficult and for the past few months since my mom has been in charge, she has been firing and hiring like crazy. Today my mom came into work and her 1st receptionist slid a note under the door saying shes quitting and walked out. Not long after the other receptionist wasn't feeling good and got carried to the hospital on a stretcher. So...not good. My mom was stressed and got my aunt to help answer phones while another girl did three jobs at once.
My mom was basically done by then until one woman called and went on about how happy she was that my mom was in charge. Shes even planning to buy over $600 worth of chairs for the clinic (my moms work). Then as my mom was getting Caribou coffee for one of her workers for helping out, someone else paid for it.
At this point my mom was shocked and close to tears because this one person decided to be kind. I'm not sure if that person bought it specifically for her but thank you. This really changed my moms day and it should show everyone that even the littlest things can help someone. Really. Thank you.
I’m screaming why does Mamma Mia fit every fight scene so perfectly ajkaslajjddhhajadkjfh
