MI 1 + 2: Really just the first special edition I would love to just tweak. The art direction and some of the redesigns just have me preferring the older style compared to the new and improve version. And I feel even some of the most simple of movements are not very appealing to watch. (watching Guybrush use the rubber chicken with a pulley in the middle was not as satisfying as the original). Though I’d also say that trying to barter with Stan was kinda a hassle to me. Also give the voice lines and background ambience noises included in the original for the special edition. Please please please god please. I don’t think I have any gripes with Lechuck’s Revenge. These two games were great and it kept my attention and got me interested in the monkey island series, they’re great games and great introductions to games like them.
COMI: The more cartoony style done for the Curse was great and made it feel like a wonderful visually-interactive pirate adventure :). But, I do realize I wish we could have gotten a little more Elaine action and more of her involvement other than Guybrush having to save her. And also have a little more bonding time between Guy and Elaine towards the end. Without it, it makes the ending feel so rushed like, “I’ve saved you. Now I’m married to you.” It would have been nice to have a little back and forth banter between the bride and groom to be. Maybe a little more dialogue like when Guybrush proposed (and maybe have him try to sing and the barbers shut him up for something idk). Having that would make the ending a little less rushed than before
EMI: Oh dear. Really wasn’t a big fame of controls. Arrow keys and function keys were not fun to navigate with or for any item collecting. They were a pain.
The humor was kinda hit or miss depending on the joke or maybe a little reference towards a topical joke at the time. It kinda made me want to skip the dialogue sometimes, even though most of the dialogue is so fitting and great.
MORE GUYBRUSH AND ELAINE AS A HAPPY MARRIED COUPLE MOMENTS. Please please please. Playing Curse and then directly going into Escape feels like their relationship is now kinda on the rocks compared to the ending of Curse, where they seem very much happy and content with each other. Would want to have more cute plunder bunny moments for the soul.
and speaking of guybrush. I’m all for that goofy deep voice guybrush pulls off but it feels weird to have a happily married man and seeing him casually flirt with some of the other characters. Please more plunderbunny.
The randomization of certain tasks did lessen my enjoyment of the game. It made me go, “How the hell was I supposed to figure that out?” instead of making me feel proud to have understood the rules of the puzzle. Like the sushi boats, prosthetic order dial, and Boulder throwing.
Just a big no on the monkey kombat or at least modify it to instead do monkey noises you learn Australian slang to defeat Ozzy Mandrill. Just fix it to get rid of the tedium.
Could have gone through the series without the monkey head being a giant fighting robot and instead maybe just defeating Ozzy but then have him possessed but Lechuck to give him a role in the final battle. Also just put a big giant ‘x’ over the whole Charles L Charles thing, It didn’t make much sense to me. Just straight up Lechuck would be fun.
TOMI: Tales is great, there really isn’t Mapuche i have. The game is great and a nice neat story that combined a lot of what people love about the series. The characters, dialogue, humor, etc. All of that was there and combined to give us such an enjoyable game to a lot of people. I would like to change the controls on Tales but it’s mostly just for inspecting items and combining them for tasks. Maybe have it be like Curse and just drag it from one part to another part of your inventory. Also sometimes using the music to drag Guybrush along was a little uncomfortable. But really don’t think I have much to say other than more plunderbunny. I really don’t think you could have too much of that. You know?
Day Three: Something You Would Change
Monkey Island isn’t without its fair of flaws. Whether glaring issues or something small and trivial, there’s that one thing that if it were up to you, you would change. So pretend for a moment, you have that ability: What would be something in the series you would change?

Ok folks. We gotta watch The Sandman. Again and again. Have it running in the background whenever you’re on your laptop.
Seriously.
It is ridiculous that this is what it takes. But “engagement” matters. Especially binging engagement.
Please. Please? Please???!!?
Look at this:
We’ve only seen two of these books. Plus two short stories from the third. There is so much more story!!
Go. Watch.

CW: antisemitism, pale of settlement, pogroms, genocide, cultural erasure
I don't think goyim can really conceive of how much Jews actually hold back in our criticism of antisemitism in media, and when you hear us it is often because we see a dangerous message that you don't... Yet.
I have a complicated relationship with Tim Burton's rendition of The Corpse Bride. I love it as a beautiful piece of stop motion art, but it isn't what it should have been, he took a Jewish story from the Pale and with intention stripped it of its Jewish origins. This alone is incredibly antisemitic. The criticism you will hear has probably been "this is a Jewish story, it should have retained its Jewish elements" but have you heard why we feel strongly about this story?
The story of the corpse bride is incredibly important to me and was born from Jewish trauma and Christian violence. Mobs would routinely attack Jewish weddings, they would murder brides and they would bury them in unmarked graves by the roadside still in their wedding clothes, they reasoned that without Jewish wives there are no Jewish mother's. Jews are intrinsic to the story.
It is antisemitism to take our story, about our pain, at the hands of non-jews and strip it for "useful" parts, in fact it is heartbreaking every time.
We are often forced to pick our battles and fighting a battle over a movie that has already been released by a director with a cult following is not worth it, you only hear us speak up in numbers when the antisemitism may lead to another century of violence, because raising our voice means picking a fight, because so many of you already see our pain as inconvenient and it is exhausting to never be heard.
