Very Much Not My Normal Posting But Since Antisemitism Is Very Actively Rising, I Feel Like It's Worth

... In which Lily says James Potter is as bad as Severus Snape calling her a mudblood. And she expands on that, equating James being a show off, conceited, walking around and hexing people for trival cause is equal to calling Lily a mudblood. It doesn't seem like the insult from Snape meant that much to her by this comparison of it equalling petty silly teenage dunderheadedness that isn't even personal to Lily. Pissed her off, certainly. Hurt her? It doesn't seem so.

I contend that the "mudblood" moment was of little importance to Lily - it was only a trigger, a last straw, the final pebble to break this friendship. But to Severus, it was a mountain; he didn't understand or see what had been building on Lily's side and of course he hung the fallout on the tip of the iceberg that was all he could see.

That was mean of her. She had no obligation to stay his friend but given his apology attempt and their 7ish years of (best on his sidd) friendship, she cannot have not understood how big this was to him. She chose to kick him away instead of just shutting the door.

As a leftist Jew who believes strongly in the cause of dignity and freedom for the Palestinian people, and that Israel has abused them, I am begging fellow leftists to understand that real life is not a comic book. A government being “the bad guy” in a situation does not automatically make anyone who opposes it “the good guy”.

Hamas denies the Holocaust. Hamas disseminates the Protocols of the Elders of Zion—the conspiracy theory it paints is what they mean by “Zionist”. Hamas forbids foreign aid educators from teaching human rights to Palestinians, and claims that even teaching that the Holocaust happened is a war crime. Hamas has written the aim of annihilating Israel (the country and its people) into its charter—the mass slaughter and violent expulsion of 7 million Jews from the land is written into its laws.

There is no crime any state could ever do that would justify any of that; there is no act of state repression that could ever make it acceptable to side with the organization spreading Nazi pamphlets and Holocaust denial.

Oppose Bibi Netanyahu. Oppose Israel’s far-right, authoritarian government. Oppose its apartheid policies. Oppose its violent abuse of the Palestinian people. That isn’t antisemitic. But Hamas is—verifiably, beyond a shadow of a doubt, to its core—antisemitic. Its portrayal of Israeli Jews as blood-thirsty, child-killing master manipulators that control international media and finance is antisemitic. Its insistence that Palestinian freedom necessitates the death & expulsion of Jews from the land is antisemitic. Its redefinition of “Zionism” as a pejorative to mean genocidal Jewish/Israeli Supremacy is antisemitic.

Supporting the Palestinian people in their plight is a noble and loving goal; please never stop that. But do not let Hamas co-opt that into excusing or denying their rampant antisemitism and war crimes.

did dream underpay and rush the animators of his "mask" music video?

long answer: after seeing that post make its rounds yesterday, i posted on reddit detailing my attempt to get in contact with the production lead, phyre, to have her fact-check the screenshots from that post. we talked, she answered all my questions and pretty much debunked the claim that they're only being given "$250 total" for their work. case closed.

and then dream himself came swinging from behind with a proverbial metal folding chair :P

the narrative that dream is taking advantage of his young fans and exploiting them for cheap/free labor is false, and in fact, he paid them 3x the final amount. once the original deadline was missed, he didn't rush them further and gave them extra time. this can all be corroborated by phyre herself on twitter.

Me when I defend Snape so much and remember that Snaters brush me off as just “some Snape apologist” even though I actually have so many criticisms of his awful actions, love his deep-rooted flaws and complexities, love to analyse how much his horrible childhood shaped him out to be for the rest of his life and how it turned him into what he hated most (a bully), and usually the only times I defend him are when his haters misconstrue what he did and make up fanon claims about him, not because I can’t handle when they say anything bad about a character I love, but because I simply can’t handle when people misunderstand his character (for better or for worse):

Had Lily been man- a MALE friend Snape loved and respected so much that his grief over his death has never faded after many years as he made a promise to protect his son, everyone would be “OH that is so amazing, so honorable”

Or let me put it in another perspective, just because your friend immediately means nothing to you after you break it off or after she dies then that doesn’t mean it’s the same for Snape. Especially as Lily was the only positive figure he could look up to and identify with in his life.

I know it is hard to hear this, but we have had yet another instance where "believe victim" has been used with malice to ruin someone's life. We saw it happen to Slazo and it was a fluke. We saw it happen to Kwite with similar results. Who is next? This is why people, particularly men, are afraid of interacting with people. It's not because they have intent to harm anyone, but because they can't know if the other person has intent to ruin their life. I am immediately skeptical of ANYONE who comes forward with allegations on social media, especially people with any kind of platform. Mob justice isn't justice, and anyone who goes to Twitter before seeking actual justice is immediately flagged in my brain and I am skeptical of the claims.

I read the same post you did. Like many of you, I am a survivor of sexual assault. Reading it illicited visceral reactions in me, as it is intended to. You have to take a step back. I personally thought about the Slazo accusations, and waited. Turns out, I was right. It absolutely fucking disgusts me that someone would actively try to ruin someone's life with false accusations, and I absolutely think Orion should face retaliation for actual real life defamation. Do I think Kwite will press charges? Honestly, I don't know. I haven't seen any of his content in years and judging by his video he just wants all the shit over and to be left alone.

As far as I'm concerned, people who fabricate rape and sexual assault allegations are just as bad as actual rapists. Abuse comes in many, many forms and it seems many of you forget what abusers will do to their victims. We literally witnessed the flip side first hand with Creepshow Art.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Far, far too many of you went for the hat trick, including some of my close friends.

Blindly believing victims only hurts real victims. Starting a mob will destroy evidence (deleting texts, editing messages, etc) and after a few times of this people will stop believing actual victims. Have you ever heard of the boy who cried wolf?

Also for more context, dream has admitted to sexually messaging underage fans, and still associates with George, who made openly sexist comments.

He had a section in there about how Dream handled the Qsmp situation and was basically just making fun of him.

After seeing this, Dream gets on Twitter and starts liking and unliking posts making fun of Tommy.

Inniters get mad, ofc.

Drm stans are ticked bc their precious baby pedo is being bashed, inniters are fighting back.

Drm stans are calling Tommy abelist for the way he portrayed dream, he was not being ableist, he portrayed every character similarly,and are saying he was joking about Dream getting doxxed, which he never did.

Inniters are pointing out that Dream has tried to take credit for Tommy's career before and that this is bot the first time Dream has behaved like a manchild.

And then the Drm stans go after motherinnit.

She fights back, we fight back, all out controversy, that brings us to where we are now.... awaiting Dream's twitlonger so we can watch Philza bash him and end his career. (This has yet to happen but the second it does I'll add it to the post)
