Ok so we’ve gotten a bunch more marathon stuff and all I can think is a. This could not possibly be further away from marathon both aesthetically, gameplay wise and honestly I can bet on story wise. and b. I can’t wait for bungie to mischaracterise durandal. Thinking about how durandal's goals and actions are all in service of not ever getting hurt again, not even by something as inevitable like the end of the universe. Also thinking about how, in the end, Strauss was successful in creating a meta stable AI even if his methods of doing so were horrific and ended up with him dead

the concept and idea of “you can always start trying to be a better person” is extremely important to me both in media and irl and i continue to be deeply deeply disturbed by the trend on this site pushing that these ideas in media are bad writing or even morally reprehensible

because theyd rather someone stay terrible or just straight up die than become a better person 

from a compassionate point of view it’s deeply distressing and from a pragmatic point of view it’s outright frustrating

it’s fucked up.
