disclaimer: this is a hc, not speculating on what the writers intentions were.

reason under the cut!

*In case anyone’s confused, Sundew is confirmed to be canonically Sapphic and WLW, but NOT specifically that she’s lesbian, due to the fact that none of the (queer) characters’ specific sexualities are confirmed within the series (excluding Umber), whether it be within the books and/or by the author herself. Therefore, Sundew being Lesbian is a headcanon instead of something that’s (confirmed) within canon, due to Sundew’s specific sexuality not being confirmed within any canon source of the series.

Anyways, into the headcanon we go!

Sundew is canonically has a girlfriend within the series, whose name is Willow. Their relationship is seen throughout Sundew’s own book, The Poison Jungle, which is book 13 of series.

Also, when Sundew is reunited with Willow after not seeing her for a few days, Sundew uses her leafspeak (her magical plant-growing powers) to instantly grow violets around them.

Violets are the flower shown within the Sapphic flag, though are more known to be (specifically) associated with lesbians throughout queer history. Due to the flowers being associated with the poet Sappho who lived on an Island called Lesbos, who wrote romantic poetry about women and mentioned flowers - including violets - and the color violet within her poetry as well.

Also, the trivia part of Sundew’s wiki page of the Wings of Fire wiki mentioned this about Sundew and Violets:

“When Sundew is reunited with Willow, the former uses her leafspeak to make violets grow in between them. Violets and their coloration have been used as a special code by lesbian and bisexual women throughout history.”

So yeah - maybe that’s quite a bit of a stretch, but I believe that helps supports my headcanon that Sundew is lesbian as well.

And time to finally put some old (and kinda stupid but also dear to me) WoF headcanons back here from the accounts that got nuked back when tumblr mobile updates reset everything I had

-All of the current Seawing princes named each other. Coral sure wasn’t gonna do it so after about the first five or six they all just decided to start naming each other

-Which power(s) a moonborn dragonet will get depends on which moon(s) is/are full. If Oracle is full, Nightwing dragonet gets prophecy. If Perception is full, Nightwing dragonet gets mind reading. If Imperial is full, it’s a brightest night and hOo BoY BUCKLE UP it’s gonna be intense

-not exactly a headcanon but AU where Whiteout is JUST icewing enough to be killed by the knife Darkstalker enchanted to kill one icewing a month purely for the aNgSt (and the possibility of it going after her or himself is why he added the ability to stop it)

Tsunami stabbing one of the most powerful queens in the world through the tail.

Constantly hyping each other up when one feels insecure.

Clay and Tsunami fighting over who gets to die for the other.

Glory melting a man alive for Clay.

The others joining Tsunami in attacking a random SkyWing, no questions asked.

The others attacking Riptide no questions asked when they thought he was threatening Tsunami.

The others staying with Clay while he was chained to the rock even when the flood was starting to rise around him because they refused to let him be alone.

Tsunami getting her uncle thrown in prison for chaining up Clay.

Starflight not even hesitating to out Blister as Kestrel's killer to protect Tsunami from being outed as Gill's killer.

Glory being ready to kill some RainWings as soon as they seemed to pose a threat to the others.
