Donna should get the Doctor's number and be allowed to call the TARDIS randomly in future episodes for no reason. never aliens. no more aliens for Donna. always just some bullshit like "my mum told me the pink blouse makes me look washed out????" and the Doctor has to be like "girl! she's crazy! but also I'm actively being shot at right now so I will have call you back"
the amount of classic who bts anecdotes which consist of special effect nearly killing someone, one of the cast members deciding to commit to the world's most unhinged bit, or the companions' actors (mostly the women) complaining about nearly freezing to death are... concerning
they got technology for building custom-made stars to use as an unlimited energy source AND it comes in the form of a semi-sentient box?? like the hand of omega??? you know what that means. thats right baby series 14 full feature-length Lungbarrow adaptation
all that said, the circumstances of regeneration shape an incarnation and romana ii was born out of suicide (self-sacrifice, if gallifrey is to be believed). so. you know. lives shaped by suicide inevitably driven by and towards that act is it any wonder she's messed up if her first incarnation viewed suicide as a game and the second spent twenty years waiting to die
My favourite thing from the new episodes is the lore they're building around Gods (or those from outside the universe) being able to interact with the 4th wall.
I cant quite remember but I think the Toymaker made a few nods to it? The Maestro absolutely did. They took the 4th wall and said hey babes! Pay attention to me ;) right now ;) LOOK AT ME
But the DOCTOR. Oh my god the DOCTOR Literally saying "I thought that was non-diagetic" The fact he can hear the shows backing music!!! (Does he just tune it out normally??) Absolutely insane concept i love it.
You could argue they alluded to this with the 12th Doctor playing the show's theme tune but to outright state it. My god where are they going with this i am obsessed
Similarly him winking to the camera at the end. Very reminicent of the 4th doctor skirting the same line.
But to have what were little silly allisions pointed out and clearly wrapped into the story? As a way of showing showing us WHO is godlike and WHO has connections to outside the universe? Again i am obsessed.
I'm guessing it will tie into their continued explorations of the Timeless Child. I am so excited to find out. I am so excited for more silly 4th wall breakers or perhaps one who makes it terrifying.
As a last, this also implies Mrs Flood is a God. Not surprising but interesting... I have absolutely no idea what to make of any of this.
Nooooooo 😠that's horrible!
I don't WANT them to bring back Tennant whenever they want! I want them to just let Gatwa have the chance everyone else has gotten!!!
They'll probably tie up the loose end whenever they think the publicity's dropping enough for them to bust out Tennant again :/ which could be any time they want.
Does the whole 'bigeneration' thing as an introduction for Ncuti Gatwa make anyone else feel icky? Because I definitely feel like they did Gatwa dirty with a botched transition between regenerations because people are getting a liiiiiiittle too nostalgic with the whole RTD/Tennant thing.
Tennant is a brilliant actor, and I'm not trying to downplay everything he's done for the show, but by leaving Tennant alive, they robbed Gatwa of an introduction that shows respect to his iteration of his character, instead leaving him to be the Random New Person while The Real Doctor is yet to come into the completion of his arc.
It's just a disappointing diversion from giving Gatwa's Doctor the focus and development he deserves.
Doctor Who (2024) / Doctor Who (2015)
is donna properly aware that the doctor doesn't always regenerate into david tennant or
the Master was really out there dressing like he was the ultimate fanboy at a Doctor Who convention
I mean, I kind if just assumed that there would be??
Because surely they wouldn't fumble the ending THAT badly without trying to give it closure. I mean, if they're trying to keep Tennant for the Christmas special (which is what I'm assuming they're aiming for), it makes sense that they'd use the Christmas special to A) finish Tennant's arc, B) have a 2nd regeneration for funsies, and C) tie up loose ends by killing Tennant once and for all.
I was just assuming that the 'bigeneration' thing was a bit of a fakeout, kind of like Tennant's other fakeout regen when he was shot by a dalek that one time.
