Some people love books, and others, like Ursula Uriarte (@ursula_uriarte), are so passionate about books that they have 150 different editions of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. “I’m pretty proud of them, though I’ve met people who have over 500,” says Ursula, a Miami-based accountant who takes pictures of her favorite young adult (YA) books with appropriately themed props. “There have been a few times where I’ve read a book and have specific items in mind that were part of the story, so I’ll go out to a craft store to look for whatever’s needed for the picture, but I’ll mainly use stuff I have — either my own or my kids’,” says Ursula, whose children range in age from 4 to 17. Those props might include Hogwarts knee-highs, vintage typewriters and porcelain teapots. And while her nightstand is usually crammed with an array of YA titles from authors ranging from Jandy Nelson to Marie Lu, Ursula’s gateway to YA lit couldn’t have been more mainstream: “Twilight,” she says, adding that her teenage sons “unanimously” hate the series. One thing they do love is Mom’s popularity with publishers. “They’re like, “‘Oh, every time we come back from school there’s like eight packages at the door for my mom,’” she says. “They laugh about it.”
