YES THIS ENERGY ONLYđ
The best part about being a marauders fan is there is pretty much no character information so we get to have these characters with very light information and do whatever the fuck we want with them and no one can say otherwise? All of them are gay? Sure! James is desi? Absolutely! Remus is welsh? Yes please! Marlene played quidditch? Yep! Lily and Remus were besties? Totally! Dorcas uses she/they pronouns? Hell yah! Regulus was in love with James? He is now!
There are no rules and she can suck it because theyâre not her characters anymore. Every single minor character, every ship, every head canon is canon if we say so!
I APPROVE THIS MESSAGE
me trying to convince you to read "when you were mine" by battlehamster on ao3 and I'm only on chapter 10
- a scene in which regulus shouts via face time at james because he doesn't fucking know which roses to buy for his garden that regulus is fixing as his own + a random woman saying: aw, the married life, isn't it?
- james calling regulus Princess because he has his ankle injured so he has to carry him bridal style all around the house while regulus is just a gay mess
- the marauders being single parents and raising harry while being in college
- UNCLE WORMY
- UNCLE MOONY
- UNCLE PADFOOT
- UNCLE REGGIE (I hope it gets to the point I'm which is just "dad")
- regulus pretending he is james mistress in a very VERY exaggerated way bc he can't leave the house and the nurses are trying to get him into a fucking ambulance
- sassy bold regulus
- trans!peter
- Indian!james
- so yeah go read it
My thoughts EXACTLY. The perfect post.
I believe that the reason why so many people like Regulus Black is because he is a blank slate. like we barely know anything about him other than the fact that he was a seeker, Siriusâs younger brother, a death eater at age sixteen, in a good relationship with a house elf and died around the age of seventeen or eighteen. another thing is that writing him is so interesting because of his circumstances, like boy grew up in a blood supremacist household, had Sirius Black as his older brother, Walburga Black and Orion Black as parents, was friends with Kreacher. There are just so many possibilities on what kind of person he could have been. He could have been a blood purist until he realized that muggle-borns are just as good at magic as purebloods. Or he didnât believe his parent from the start but kept quiet because someone had to keep the peace in this shit hole of a house and it sure as hell wasnât Sirius or Walburga. he could have been a very nice boy and a goody-two-shoes who tried to please everyone. or he could have been a ruthless young man who was tired at the unfairness of the world, bitter towards his older brother who left him to rot with his crazy mother and distant father. he could have been an animagus. knew Remus was a werewolf. friends with halfbloods or even muggleborns. maybe he was bisexual or demisexual or asexual. he could have been in love with James Potter. best friends with Barty. there are just so many headcanons and possibilities with Regulus because he is a blank canvas for us waiting to be brought to life and we can project ourselves on him and mold him to our liking and hoe we see fit. and this is why I think regulus is such an interesting character even though we know so little about him.
Idk if people do this anymore but I need help finding a fic that I read like a month ago. Itâs a jegulus fic where Regulus doesnât have a car so Sirius has James drive him to work. James says heâs straight but him and Reg have this flirty lil relationship. One night James comes to Reg drunk and they canoodle but James is gone in the morning I think?? Iâm a lil fuzzy on that detail. After that Reg starts dating Kingsley because heâs not gonna fuck with a straight boy again. Then Kingsley moves away and they break up and then Reg and James get together. Also Sirius and Remus fell in love doing porn together and thatâs their little side story
The fic was like three chapters but the word count was probably around 10,000-40,000, I canât imagine it being longer than that.
I loved it and it was fun but now I canât find it so SOMEBODY ANYBODY HELP ME PLEASE
Thatâs actually super interesting because I always see them never getting together. Like they always have a sad ending in ffs and itâs makes it hard to find fics bc i canât do sad endingsđ€Ș
Also, I always thought that James would already think blood supremacyâs bad but he would learn differently with Reg. He would realize that the âbad sideâ are people just like him outside of their beliefs. Reg would humanize the death eaters for him. It would make the war more real for the both of them to know who theyâre losing
But I LOVE seeing other ideas about the relationship because they shouldnât all be the same!!!!!
Okay so Jegulus,
I don't ship it.
But not because of the ship.
I don't ship it because of how a lot of other people ship it. Like it can't work out, but that's like the point of it. It was never meant to last forever. It can't work because. Reggie's already too deep into the dark arts, but having dated each other opens each of their eyes to a reality.
Regulus: Dating James plants a seed, that will one day grow into his betrayal of Voldemort. He cannot get there yet, but seeing the 'other side' is an important step.
James: Dating regulus open James' eyes to how bad blood supremacists actually are. This not only leads to him believing that the inevitable result is war, whereas he had previously hoped for a peaceful resolution, but it also gives him an insight into Sirius' home life, which eventually leads to him moving in with the Potters.
The reason this ship can never work out is that we know Regulus becomes a death eater and James Potter would not be okay with that. I think James would have thought he could change Regulus, but he couldn't stop him from getting the mark in the end.
When I read many Jegulus fics they always end up making it end with them together, and in a happy relationship, when in reality their relationship would have been unhealthy and had to end badly.
Regulus Black Headcanons
He was extremely pale but when he blushed his whole face turned red. He hated it, especially because of how easy it was to make him blush
He had hemophilia (as a product of inbreeding). Something about it just makes sense.
He resembled his father while Sirius resembled their mother. He was quiet, reserved, and was often seen as apathetic. (But he could scream like a fucking banshee, he had to get something from his mother)
Heâs the kind of person to kick you when your down b/c he thinks itâs really funny. He only does it to his friends b/c he knows they can take it but he definitely talks shit about other people to them. Like, Barty would get a really shit grade on a test and Reg would say, âWell at least youâre good looking, oh WAITâand run out before Barty can throw something at him.
He reads muggle books and enchants the covers so no one knows.
He lies about his favorite book genre because itâs trashy romance.
He was a hat stall because he was having a whole conversation with himself in his head and the hat couldnât get a word in. After five minutes of him weighing the pros and cons of each house he says to the hat âokay, put me in Ravenclawâ. The hat stays silent for a second and screams âSLYTHERINâ
Regulus can hold a grudge like a BITCH. Heâs still mad at the hat for not going with his decision (even though he knows it was right)
He had a hard time growing hair when he was little and was really insecure about it. Just imagine him with the worst little rat moustache.
He took pride in his hygiene. He had a skin and haircare routine, flossed, and moisturized. He clipped his nails and made sure they looked nice (or tried to since he bit his nails a lot). He even brought silk pillowcases to school.
He wrote music. You canât convince me other wise. This bitch played piano and violin, two of the hardest instruments to learn, and wrote pieces for both of them.
He bit his nails. He thought it was really disgusting because he hated germs but he wouldnât realize he was doing it until he was three nails in.
He absolutely had a blanky when he was little. He slept with it but hid it from his dorm mates in his first year. Bellatrix set it on fire and Regulus didnât leave his room for weeks.
I donât want to be mean or step on anybodyâs toes, but I feel like people have James Potter in a chokehold.
You can interpret James however you want but if people want to make him a real person than they canât have him be perfect; I.e. never being rude or mean to people, never doing bad things with bad intentions, always having an open mind and always being accepting of things right away
Some people get really mad when ffs make James mean, or a bully, or not accepting of the people around him coming out to him(this one doesnât happen that often but itâs fine) and itâs ok to get mad but itâs very strange to me.
For example, someone will say that James would be really hurt after all those years of Lily rejecting him and that causes self-esteem problems for him in the future.
Ok then, so he turns those problems in on himself, why canât he turn those problems onto others like every other character? Why canât he make fun of someone he doesnât like for not having a girlfriend, why canât he get mad or snippy with Lily about it when theyâre dating instead of just forgiving her immediately?
When these stories do get told, people begin to say âhe definitely wouldnât say that! He knows how much that could hurt someone. He would never intentionally hurt someone unless it was for the greater good!â
Unless you think James Potter is God, then that is just not true. People do bad things sometimes, thatâs how they learn to be better people. Just because someone has a sunny disposition doesnât mean they canât have bad or prejudiced thoughts. It doesnât mean they wouldnât take advantage of people or take out their anger on others.
Sirius, Remus, Regulus, Lily, etc. They all get to be mean, all except James Potter who is the same age as them, goes to the same school as them, and has more privilege than most of them. Why is he exempt?
If you want James to be real then you have to let him get mad, you have to let him make mistakes so that he can learn from them. You have to give him time to understand things heâs never seen or only heard bad things about. You have to let him have a full range of character and emotions.
Nobody is that perfect from the start.
If you donât want these characters to feel real then thatâs totally fine. Just donât interfere with or critique others trying to do so.
I love James Potter as much as the next person, and I would love him even more if I got to see him grow into the man we picture him to be now.
Idk
Pt. 2 to my rockstar regulus hc
Sirius and the rest of the marauders start spreading rumors or telling really embarrassing stories of Regulus when he was younger.
They would tell anyone they met about Regulus being able to catch a pigeon with his bare hands and doing it on several occasions. How he once bodied a stranger after they said his earrings were gay. How he set a trash can on fire. How heâs actually bald and just wears a wig all the time.
Sirius even found a way to get an interview for a magazine as an âAccount on the newest star Regulus Black from his very own brotherâ. He said the most insane things but with so much conviction they all believed him.
Things got so out of hand that when Reg was in the middle of an interview the interviewer asks, âit is true you were once so in love with your brothers best friend, you sent him a love letter a day for a month?â
Reg just sits there for a minute, fazed by this super random question. Then he looks directly into the camera and goes, âSirius Iâm gonna cut all your hair offâ and walks out.
Sirius cackled when he saw it.
I totally get what youâre saying. To get jegulus and jegulily, you have to change all their characters around.
I personally donât like when people say Regulus was just forced into a role and he never wanted any of it though I do like seeing how people twist the story in that way. But it makes him sound like a mediocre Draco.
I think a lot of people like Jegulus because of the character depth it brings to both of them. We get to see a softer side to Regulus and how heâs just as scared as everyone else is. It teaches James that you canât save everyone, especially when they donât want or think they need to.
In canon, nothing about Jegulus and jegulily would work. But thatâs what fan fiction is for. So we can change things or put our own theories about the characters into play.
Iâve seen a lot of discourse about Jegulus in this fandom and I want to give my opinion on it. Before I get into this I would like to say: no hate to any Jegulus shippers. Youâre entitled to your own opinions, and I could care less about who you ship as long as itâs not pedophillia, incest, etc. This is just my opinion.
I really hate Jegulus for multiple reasons:
First off, it completely destroys their characters and makes 0 sense for both of them.
James was strongly against blood purity and the Potter family were labeled as blood traitors. He was invited to join the DE by Voldemort and declined (JKR confirmed this was 1 of the 3 ways he betrayed him.) Not to mention he betrayed Voldemort 2 other times. Plus, he was friends with Remus, a half-blood werewolf and Sirius, a blood traitor Gryffindor. Do you really think the Marauders would still be his friends if he suddenly dated a blood supremacist? Imagine if youâre a POC and your white friend dated a racist. Or if you were Jewish and your German friend dated a German N@z! supporter.
Regulus was strongly for blood purity, seeing as he made a shrine dedicated to Voldemort and the DE. This means he wouldâve hated Muggleborns, half-bloods, half-breeds, and blood traitors.
Not to mention Sirius. Regulus probably loved Sirius since he asked Kreacher not to tell his family about the Horcrux, and Sirius died not knowing about it, but that doesnât mean Regulus was a good brother when Sirius was still around. In his youth, Sirius wouldâve hated Regulus because of Walburga and Orionâs favoritism. The Potters took Sirius in and James adopted Sirius as a brother. He wouldâve hated Regulus because of the way Sirius talked about him. And considering that Sirius hated Regulus as kids, he would be very hurt and angry with James if he suddenly got in a relationship with him.
Second off, Jegulus and Jily canât work in the same timeline. Lily would never go out with James if he dated a blood supremacist before her. If a white guy asked me to date him, and I knew he dated a white racist before me, I would be horrified and shocked and immediately say no.
And donât even get me started on the HC about a poly relationship between Lily, James, and Regulus. Iâm sorry, but thatâs a very disgusting HC to have. Muggleborns are an allegory for Jewish people and DE are an allegory for N@z!s. Itâs just like Dramione/Drarry, just Marauders Era edition.
The only way I can see Jegulus or a poly relationship between Regulus, James, and Lily working is in an AU where Regulus was always good, but that still changes him entirely and throws away anything canon about him.
I think a lot of people use Jegulus as a way to give Regulus a better redemption arc. But honestly, using love as a redemption arc doesnât work and is just lazy writing. We see this with Snily and even Grindledore, to an extent. I think Regulus shouldâve been given a better redemption arc but using Jegulus to do so makes no sense and isnât a good way to fix JKRâs terrible try at a redemption without obsession.
âThose poor boysâ
âShe deserves to be punished too.â
âIâm not saying I support rape, but-â
âSorry to say - she deserved it.â
âShe put herself in harmâs wayâ
âBut if she was fingered, then thatâs not rape.â
âShe ruined their lives.â
Do it. Wanna know why? BECAUSE YOU CAN
How would you all feel if I did a Wolfstar/Marauders through Hogwarts story? Kinda like âAll the Young Dudesâ except not as good XD, no one can beat all the young dudes MsKingBean89 is a literal genius. But how would you guys feel about that?
