The way I'm just insane about this ship, good lord

Just the idea, that Macaque spent probably hundreds of years alone, obsessed with revenge, obsessed with Wukong, with Wukong's attention

And then one day Wukong has a student, some weak mortal, MK or whatever, and at first he's just a tool Macaque can use to get to Wukong, but then MK kicks his ass and Macaque is intruiged

And that obsession with Wukong and intruige over MK turns into him projecting Wukong's image onto MK, he's just like Wukong, or rather Macaque wants him to be

And then Macaque developing a soft spot for MK, promising to help him behind the scenes and going easy on him even when LBD was breathing down his neck, and then there's the fact that MK never gave up on Macaque, despite everything he found empathy and sympathy for him, and finally Macaque starts to see him for who he is rather than just seeing a projection of Wukong and realising MK is nothing like him, he's so much better than Wukong could ever hope to be and MK just teaching Macaque to hope again, to trust again, winning over his respect and loyalty

And on the other hand, there's MK, he idealised Wukong all his life, Wukong is his hero, and then actually met Wukong and it was almost like a dream come true, except not really because Wukong wasn't quite what he imagined him to be and MK getting slowly disillusioned with Wukong, then Wukong leaves him behind, starts keeping secrets from him then MK finds out what happened between Macaque and Wukong and he feels a kinship with Macaque, he sympathises with him, gradually starts to see more of Wukong's flaws and cut him less slack when he hurts him, wants less and less to be like him

Basically to summarrise my insanity:

Just, Macaque opening up MK's eyes to Wukong's flaws and make him stop idolising him and help him step out of Wukong's shadow and find his own way

Meanwhile MK helps Macaque gets over Wukong and helps him learn to open up and trust again, to love again, and just in an ironic way their relationship to Wukong bringing them together and them finding understanding, trust and love in eachother

I'm just very soft for this ship
