You should draw Spot and Race winning something big at the races and impulsively kissing eachother (how to draw impulsively. I don’t know. I’m a writer, but I think it would be cute and your really good art would make it even cuter) oh and 92sies
remember kids!! both gambling and homosexuality are illegal!
how does it feel to consistently have correct opinions abt everything
(mostly referring to newsies, those are your posts that I look at)
this is the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me ever thank you thank you thank you
my roman empire is the way the seize the day fight scene is shot in livesies, like ZOOM OUT PLEASE I want to see the staging.
I love fight choreography. criminal to take that away from me.
do you ever think about how the musical adaptation of newsies not only replaced historical newsies names (boots, bumlets, dutchy, snitch, etc...) with made up ones but also replaced these ensemble characters with new, clearly male designated characters (albert, elmer, tommy boy, mike, etc...) or are you normal?
any of the original newsies names could have been applied to newsgirls for the stage, imagine skittery or snipeshooter or even boots as a newsgirl!!
but nooooo
only newsboys existed according to disney
jack seems like he's either:
the kind of guy who babies love, but he is so awkward with them so they just kind of cling onto him while he's stiff and wide eyed and he doesn't know what to do
the kind of guy who babies love, and he's actually very gentle and good with them, which comes as a shock to any of the newsies whenever they see him handling a baby
a moment for the staging, sets, and lighting in the outsiders.
the set is so dynamic, and every scene uses it so well. either it’s filled, with actors climbing and swinging all over it, or hauntingly empty with a scene in just one piece. every part of it is used at one point.
the lighting fills all this space and pulls your eyes around the stage there’s so much motion in the still moments too (like the projection during great expectations).
I knew the songs and dancing would be great, but I was floored by how beautiful the entire thing was.
taking boots out of the bway version fundamentally changed the dynamic of the newsies and i miss boots every time i watch it #in my boots era
The wasp in the length of my arm - Oh hi so long no full piece. Well this is a redraw I’ve been meaning to do for the longest time. I don’t do redraws too much because to be honest I cannot say if I like the lost recent one better or the older original version. There’s always something so charming about the things you do when you’re experimenting and they feel less polished and honest. That being said I have been thinking about this piece a lot because I did this around four years ago (in the middle of the pandemic) and it felt to important to me, in a personal sense and also because I longed to go out and live in the real world. Sufjan is of course forever a favorite of mine and I could talk for hours about his work. I wanted to revisit this piece.
My challenge right now is not letting my innie-cam (haha severance reference) take over my whole life. I need to nurture my outer existence and that what is most important to me which is, making art. Hope you sufjan fans still enjoy this version. Love.
just a reminder for all my fellow writers out there (bc i’ve needed to remind myself recently): there is no wrong way to write, ever. the act of writing makes you a writer. you deserve a space at the table.
it can be so scary to share your work (and you never have to, you’re still a writer if you never do), but if you’re hesitant, please hold onto this: you need no qualifications but passion. good and bad is subjective and means nothing; if you love what you’re writing, you’re doing it right.
anyways i love yall and take care of yourselves!!
