Treat Yo’ Self ☕ Spell
Valentine’s Magick For One
A pampering spell to help bring out that self-love and confidence for my lovely single witches this holiday

Materials:
Pink, red, and/or white candles
Sea and/or epsom salt
Lavender, Lotus, or Rose scented essential oil
Ginger
Cinnamon
Food coloring (optional)
Rose Quartz
Paper pad & writing utensil
Spellwork:
Step 1. First things first, mixing and preparing materials! I recommend beginning this step the night before you plan to perform the spell.
In a small bowl, mix together your carrier salts with the oil of your choice, a bit of cinnamon [love and success], some ginger [love, prosperity, success, and inner strength], and - if you’d like to add a bit of color - a few drops of food coloring. Once you’ve thoroughly mixed the ingredients to create a magickal body scrub, hollow out a small hole and place a rose quartz stone in the middle ~ Leave the mixture to soak up energy from the rose quartz overnight or for 8-12 hours.
(Note: If you already have a body scrub that you prefer, feel free to use that instead! Or, if you’d rather buy one than make your own, that is perfectly alright too)
Step 2. Once your mixture has sat for awhile, gather up all you need. Because you will be scrubbing your body with the salts, prepare a nice warm bath or shower for yourself ~ Decorate your bathroom with the candles, dim the lights, and light them. Begin the spell by stepping into the bath or shower (Tip: make sure your salts are within reach, so you don’t have to get out to grab them!)
Step 3. Perform your normal bathing routine, imagining a shining light that flows with the water as you do, cleansing your body of any negativity or ‘dirt’; physical, mental, spiritual and magickal. Towards the end, scoop out a bit of your scrub and begin scrubbing it on your body ~ Visualize the salts buffing off the remaining metaphysical dirt; revealing a shining aura and leaving you feeling less heavy. Remind yourself of how lovely and wonderful you are as you do, or take the time to say a chant for beauty, confidence, and love!
Once you’ve finished, wash the salts off and end your shower or bath.
Step 4. Pamper yourself! Wear a fuzzy robe, soft pajamas, a blanket, or any clothes that make you feel especially comfortable. Then, blow out all but one candle from your bathroom and carry it over to wherever you’d like to sit along with the rose quartz you used for the scrub earlier. Placing the candle beside you, pick up your paper pad and write down at least 20 things you love about yourself… and more, if you can! Write what you admire, write down some accomplishments you recently made that you are proud of, write what you enjoy about your appearance or personality ~ anything and everything. If you’d like to go a little further, write down some activities or hobbies that you especially enjoy.
When you feel you’ve written all you can, fold up the paper and store in a safe place for later. Whenever you’re feeling upset, anxious, or doubting yourself, take it back out and reflect on just how glorious you are ♡
Reserve the rest of the day for doing things that make you feel good ~ And remember, it’s Valentine’s, so -
Creating a sigil
A sigil magick is a symbol that you creat that carries your will. For example in this tutorial the sigil will bring bravery.
1. Write out your intention
“I will be brave”
2. Remove all repeating letters
W R A V
3. Then simplify the letters into basic shapes

4. Then put those letters together and make a symbol from them. Make the symbol one that you feel comfortable with.
— a way to charge your sigil is to have other people look at it, or you can meditate with it, or sleep with it.
-Now from this step, you can do one of many things. Fold it up and bury it, Burn it Rip it to pieces and let the wind carry it off, put it in a river, lake, stream, ect. rip it, set it in melted candle wax, put in witch bottle.

Flames Within (Motivation, Passion)
Give yourself a magical perk-up and shine with the energy of fire. Materials:
Red candle
Glass of red wine
Cinnamon (powdered)
You can use non-alcoholic wine or even juice, if you prefer. Pour the wine into a nice glass and add a small sprinkle of cinnamon to it. Dip your finger into the wine and give it a little stir.
Run your wet fingertip around the rim of the glass until you hear a ringing tone. Watch the candle flame and visualize it shining out from within yourself.
Drink the glass of wine and feel its warmth flow through you. Place the empty glass next to the candle and allow the candle to burn itself out.
Witch's Money Bottle
What you will need:
5 each of three denominations of coin currency
5 kernels of dried corn
5 sesame seeds
5 cinnamon sticks
5 cloves
5 whole allspice
5 pecans
Place set of objects into a thin, tall bottle. Close the bottle well. Shake the bottle with your non-dominant hand for 5 minutes while repeating these or similar words:
Herbs and silver, Copper and grain; Work to increase my money gain
Place the money spell bottle on a table somewhere in your house. Leave your purse, wallet or cheque book near the bottle when at home. Allow money to come into your life.
Liberation Spell
This is a spell to help free yourself from whatever binds you or holds you back.
Materials:
black candle
black ribbon or cord
Light the candle. Wrap the ribbon loosely around your wrists and hold them out in front of you. Say the following:
“I have been bound by _____ (name of the person, bad habit, old job, an experience, or whatever it is that bound you), But no longer willing am I to be, I let it/him/her go and walk away, And so it is that I am free.”
When you have finished reciting the spell, allow the ribbon to slide off your wrists. Dispose of the ribbon somehow – burn it, bury it, etc.
Encourage Positivity
You can do this when you are in need of calming yourself or relieving anxiety, or when you need to reduce negativity and/or promote positivity at any time in your life.
you will need:
matches
your favorite incense
a yellow, orange or white candle
citrine, sunstone, yellow aventurine, or clear quartz (crystals for positivity)
amethyst, black tourmaline, turquoise, etc (crystals for emotional protection)
In the morning, find a quiet place and meditate, if you desire. Sit outside or inside, that is up to you. Sit on the ground and make yourself comfortable. Breathe deeply and slowly, try to let go of any weariness or negativity you’re feeling. You can hold the crystals in your hands, or just place them on the ground close to you. Use as many as you like.
Now, light the candle and the incense, and focus on the soothing smell of the incense and the hypnotic flame of the candle. Do not look away from the candle until you’re fully relaxed (this can take anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes, take as much time as you need). When you are ready say,
Pull out the energy within me which is sleeping Slow moving on a task is cause for weeping My energy and intellect is under a slow spell Remove the rock from under which it dwells
Visualize negative energy leaving you and positive energy coming up from within you and surrounding you. If you wish, you can visualize yourself surrounded by an energy shield, to protect you from negative energy and negative emotions from others. Blow out the candles when you are ready.
Spell for Emotional Healing and Moving Forward
Cast this spell at dawn.
Materials:
one white candle (for purity and strength) in the middle
one pink candle (for spiritual help) at the right
one blue candle (for cleansing of the self) at the left
As you light each candle (starting from the middle, then right, then the left), say:
This is the turning point in my life. I am erasing the past. The future is mine to choose. Right at this moment, I am making my tomorrows. I forgive myself for all past mistakes. I start over with a clean slate. I choose for myself only that which I desire to experience. I choose (health, wealth, companionship, happiness, etc.) As I will it, so it shall be.
Extinguish the candles.
Strengthen your love spell
You will need the following items for this spell:
something old (something you owned before the relationship)
something new (something you acquired recently)
something borrowed (something you borrowed/are borrowing)
something blue (literally a blue object)
a white candle for each year spent together
fresh red rose petals
fresh white rose petals
Set up the candles in a semicircle if at all possible (this will be easier the longer you’ve been with him or her). Sprinkle the rose petals inside the semicircle. Place your four objects in the semicircle on top of the rose petals. Say the title of each one aloud as you set them down (Something old, something new, etc.). Choose one candle from the semicircle and hold it in your hand. It does not matter which candle you choose as long as you are comfortable with your choice. Light your chosen candle and say:
“Great Mother, prepare me for the times to come, both the good and the bad. If this union is meant to be, let nothing separate us.” Using the lit candle in your hand, carefully light the other candles, one by one. As you light each one, visualize a specific trait that you love about your relationship (that you finish each other’s sentences, that you know just what the other wants, etc.), and say it out loud. Each candle should represent a different relationship characteristic. Once all your candles are lit, place the one you chose back in its place in the semicircle. Watch the candles’ dancing flames and feel their tender heat. Watch their bouncing light flicker over the room. Remember the happiest memories of your journey together. Step 6: When you are finished reliving the happiest moments of your relationship, begin extinguishing the candles one by one, starting with the one you chose. As you do so, say :
“The years we have accumulate as we walk our path together. In this time of love and joy, we become one.“
Keep your four items in a safe place and save one white rose petal and one red one for good luck.
Spell to make relationship stronger
Want your relationship to be more lovey dove-y?
You will need the following items for this spell:
1 red candle
a piece of paper
your name and your partners name
a pen or pencil
Take the piece of paper and write your name, light the candle, and your partners first and last name on the paper.
Next concentrate on what happens in the relationship between the two of you,(like hugging, kissing, going on dates, etc). Then think what you want to happen (like more passionate kissing, more more hugs from them, or even saying romantic thing more often).
Now take the paper and while burning it, say out loud
“With the love between us as the way it is, I wish for the romance to blossom like a rose in the day, let the love grow as I say so, let it become true as it may, so mote it be”
Blow out the candle. This spell may take up to a week to work, depending on how far in the relationship you are, and how much concentration you put in.

Runes! This was an assignment to create a set of flashcards that would appeal to kids and adults for my Type 1 class. They each have the rune symbol, the name of the rune, the meaning in English, the meaning (roughly translated by google, thanks google) in Norwegian, and a little icon I made. I made the big rune characters, but the display font is Comic Runes by takuminokami on Font Space (thanks internet). The cards are 3 inches by 4.5 inches.
Also please don’t yell at me if the meanings of these are wrong, my research was not particularly scholarly. (Once again, thanks internet :p)
Know Your Familar Spell
Say
“oh familiar tell me my sacred beast oh tell me familiar please tell me.” Chant this 1 or more time. you will have a dream about your familiar(s) the night you say this.
Finding a Familiar
You will need the following items for this spell:
Animal of choice
Candles (optional)
Hand
Voice
When you find a creature that you wish to become your familiar, you must first ask its permission by passing your hand over it and crying:
By the Moon that shines at night, and the Sun so very bright, I ask you once, I ask you twice, but more than twice would not be nice. With a wag, a croak, or mew, pray tell me now what you will do. Will you my familiar be? Give your answer to me.
Wait until the creature does something you take to mean, “Yes!” While the animal may have had another name like Blue, Jebbert, or Charlie, it is now important for you to choose a secret magical name.
Attention Spell
This is not a spell to gain needless attention like for love but attention that is deserved and needed.
You will need the following items for this spell:
Orange Candle
magnet
Hematite
Set up your altar as you see fit. Then invoke the gods of your pantheon. Never invoke a divinity not of your faith or one you know nothing about.
Start with giving to your gods first prayers. Follow by giving your offerings.
Now start the spell by lighting the candle and stare at the flame for a minute or two. Watch it dance. Hold your hands on each side of the candles and chant 3 times:
“I am the sun I am the key All attention be focused on me. See what I do and hear what I say. Let all head turn and face my way. I am the center, I am light I am this flame, dancing so bright. I sparkle interest, wherever I go Let all look at me, be it sunny or snow.”
Into the candle send orange energy of “drawing.” That is to say, drawing others attention to you. Continue to do this for as long as you can hold the visualization.
Now place the magnet in front of the candle, cover it with you hand and send into it the power of attraction. and chant 3 times:
“Magnetism is currently all mine Drawing the attention I deserve. And those that give me such Will be the first that I serve. People attention now drawn to me And as my will, so mote it be.”
Place the hematite in top of the magnet and chant 3 times:
“Stone of iron, ore from the ground To draw attention make this spell sound. As you go with me all day, all night In work and business, give me your might. You shall make all pay attention to me To hear my words and record my deeds And give me the credit that I’m due To these tasks I now ask of you.”
Leave the objects by the candle till it snuff’s itself out. Once out, take the hematite and carry it in you pocket or in a power bundle or satchet. Carry it where you are looking for the attention.
Note: remember not to abuse this spell. If you do it will not work or the stone may end up disappearing on you.
Simple Truth Spell
Just as the title suggests, this is a very simple spell to garner truth from the one who conceals it. This is very straightforward and requires few ingredients, though if you wish to delve deeper and put forth a bit more work, I recommend appealing to Rahab, who can find truth in any matter or a Pomba Gira Cigana.

Instructions
Take your white fabric and cut it into a shape vaguely resembling a tongue and mark thereon the above symbol. While performing the following, proceed chanting the following incantation:
Through the mirror I see – Through the cloud I see – Through the mask I see – Speak it.
Place half of the violet stems horizontally upon the symbol side of the tongue and the root atop the stems, then roll the tongue into a “scroll.” Tie it up and place it into a small envelope that has been primed with powdered Solomon Seal and violet stems as well as enough salt to cover the scroll once within. Allow this to “marinate” for 3 days, as which time retrieve the “scroll” and wear it about the neck as a visible charm. Use the remaining powder to dust the tracks of he/she you wish to be honest with you.

Bring this person back in my life Spell
You will need the following items for this spell:
2 pins
One Red candle
Post the two pins though the center of your candle at midnight, Think about the person you miss and why you want them back in your life. maybe there is some unspoken words that need to be said, questions that need to be answered.
As you light the candle say this persons full name out loud. Then say: “Know I move to you,as you move to me, As I think of you, think of me too. Come to me in dearest friendship (Or if you are casting this on a ex lover “come to me in love.”)
Then say their name three times, and extinguish the candle.
A few recommended witchcraft books
The Basics
Mastering Witchcraft by Paul Huson
This book is super popular. It is ceremonial in nature - don’t worry about needing to make Huson’s many ‘required’ items - but it has some really good stuff, especially the introduction and the Witch’s Pyramid.
Pure Magic by Judika Illes
This is the lady who wrote the Encyclopedia of 5000 Spells. Her book is good, leaning more towards New Age than Mr. Huson. I found the book to be generally well-rounded. It does cover a lot of basics, including plenty of rituals and spells.
The Sorcerer’s Secrets by Jason Miller
I have personally learned more from this book than any other. Instead of relying on spells, Mr. Miller teaches you the actual techniques of improving your magical skills. He also gives a reasonable explanation for how magic works and the ways you can practically apply skills to get what you want.
The Complete Guide to Psychic Development by Cassandra Eason
Mrs. Eason is the “if six candles are good, twelve is better!” type. I don’t agree with her that imagining a pink fluffy cloud (and I do not mock; this is literal) will remove all dangers. This book is perhaps best mixed with a more traditional one, such as Mastering Witchcraft. But if psychic stuff is for you, this book may be a great help.
Beyond the Basics
The Witch’s Familiar by Raven Grimassi
A surprisingly complete system of calling, working with, controlling, and dismissing familiars. If you have no idea where to start, and you prefer a slightly more ceremonial take on things, this is the book for you. It also holds value for those interested in spirit work.
Financial Sorcery by Jason Miller
You guys already know I have a thing for Mr. Miller, and I offer no apologies. He knows his stuff and he’s a good writer. Read this book if you want to make money with your magic in a way that actually works.
Seven Spheres by Rufus Opus
Not witchcraft - Hermetics. But it is a fantastic book, good for those who are looking for ‘the next step’ and are ready for spirit work and conjuration. I really learned a lot by reading this book, even if his tone is somewhat bro-ish at times.
Protection & Healing
Protection & Reversal Magick: Beyond 101 by Jason Miller
This was the first witchcraft book I ever bought! Gosh do I love it. Mr. Miller speaks in a straight-forward tone about certain dangers, and fills a book with different methods on how to fight, defend, and heal yourself after the battle. To those interested in Hekate, there are a couple original Hekatean rituals in this book. I highly recommend.
Psychic Self-Defense by Dion Fortune
An old, albeit still well-written handbook. Her accounts of psychic attack are fascinating and her solutions are practical and useful.
Spiritual Cleansing by Draja Mickaharic
This book is extremely practical and lays out several methods of cleansing for each problem addressed. Mr. Mickaharic loudly advocates against changing or substituting his spells, and basically says if you can’t do it the way he presents it in the book, don’t do it at all. So if you are the sort of practitioner who can’t get a hold of a pint of beer or seven walnuts to pop in the bathtub, this book is not for you. However, I was very pleased with the book and saw new content I had never seen before.
Dictionaries, Encyclopedias, and References
Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs by Scott Cunningham
Yes, it’s getting on in years now. If it were a human it would have bought it’s first home and have two kids at this point. But it’s survived this long because it’s a solid reference for plants. When you get your hands on a new plant and don’t know what in the dickens you can use it for, Mr. Cunningham will give you a good overview. When planning a spell and you need to know what plants follow your correspondences, his tables in the back will list plants in accordance with your intent.
Encyclopedia of Crystal, Gem & Metal Magic by Scott Cunningham
What can I say. It’s like the plant book, but for crystams, gems, and metals.
The Crystal Bible by Judy Hall
This is the only book I’ll recommend that I haven’t *gasp* read personally. I’ve heard really good things about it. It is a big book of crystals. I just don’t care enough about crystals to get it, but if you care about crystals, then this is the book for you, I’ve heard.
(Elemental) Encyclopedia of 5000 Spells by Judika Illes
Correct me if I’m wrong on this one, but the ‘elemental’ encyclopedia is the same as the regular, non-elemental edition. What I find to be of real value in this book is not the spells themselves, but the extensive forward which has a lot of magical knowledge. You can also pick up great tidbits by browsing the book. The formulary in the back has recipes for all kinds of oils, powders, and potions. It’s a good book, I highly recommend.
The Element Encyclopedia of Witchcraft by Judika Illes
I’ll tell you what, Mrs. Illes sure does love her elemental encyclopedias. This is a solid book, covering a vast range of topics such as animals, holy days, and tools. I find the ‘animals’ section to be particularly useful.
Fabulous Creatures, Mythical Monsters, and Animal Power Symbols by Cassandra Eason
The book is full of what the title says. A good resource for mythical and regular animals.

The most sellable property of this book is that it lists many spirits by name. If you come across a certain name and want to know if it is connected to anybody, Mrs. Illes has the book for you. I find general entries such as “Ghost” or “mermaid” to be frustratingly sparse, but if you want to know who ‘Atargatis’ is, forget about it.
