Last Wednesday, I saw Kieran Crowley’s solo exhibition at Solomon Fine Art on Balfe Street off Grafton Street. Loved the amount of work that he had put into creating each artwork especially the drawings. Beautiful combination of colours in the fore and background. His portraits have personality. Travelling to Solomon Fine Art was worth the effort. Kieran’s exhibition will run until 5th May 2018.
Classy.

Tonight, I attended the opening of Dermot Seymour's 'The Nine Primates of Ulster' at the Kevin Kavanagh Gallery, Chancery Lane, Dublin 8. The event began with Dermot conversing with Martin Mackin before answering questions from an audience about his work. Afterwards, the atmosphere was relaxed with plenty of chat.
Each of Dermot's paintings featured the portrait of a different species of money or ape. He did not specify any of these species in the titles of his paintings. The faces and eyes of these animals were painted in sharp expressive detail while their shoulders and background appeared more blurred and abstract. I liked 'Primate of Cavan' and 'Primate of Monaghan' due to their compositions. Dermot's show will run until 12th Oct 2024.

Last night I attended the Xmas Show held at the Ireland Institute. The venue was busy with a wide variety of colourful paintings to view ranging from figurative to streetscape. This exhibition will continue on the first floor at 27 Pearse Street, Dublin 2 until Wed 4th Dec 2019 at 5.30 pm.
Last Thursday, I attended the opening of Double Shuffle at the Kerlin Gallery, Anne's Lane, South Anne Street, Dublin D02 A028. Double Shuufle is an exhibition of work by Victoria Morton and Merlin James. The opening started at 5:00 so it took a while for the venue to fill up with people. The artwork on view consisted of paintings and wall-mounted sculptures in various media. I enjoyed viewing the large painting by Victoria Morten called 'About Listening'. It was full of color and life. Merlin's artwork was more understated. I liked his paintings titled 'Pier' and 'Sky'. Double Shuffle will run until 8th July 2023.
Classy.
Last night, I attended the opening of Eilis O'Connell's new exhibition 'Hardware/ Software' at Solomon Fine Art, Balfe Street, Dublin 2 D02 T802 beside the Westbury Hotel. The Venue was packed and had a lively atmosphere. It was worth the time and effort to go. Loved the sense of form and line in Eilis' work. Her exhibition will continue on Sat 18th Nov 2023.
Tonight, I attended the opening of Cléa Van der Grijns exhibition 'Orbiva at Solomon Fine Art, Balfe Street, Dublin 2 D02 T802.
Her paintings, mixed media on linen or wood are colorful especially the reds and pinks. My favorite painting was Boschian Lush #2 featuring two hearts or arms.
In 'Boschian Lush #3' which I also loved, I saw the bottom half of a dancer.
Cléa has also created a series of eight digital embroideries including 'Boschian Lush #1', top left.
It was a very enjoyable evening. Well worth the effort of going. Cléa's exhibition will run onto 29th Mar 2025.

I attended the opening of Brian Harte's exhibition 'To The Harbour Place' at the Molesworth Gallery, 16 Molesworth Street, Dublin 2 tonight. Most memorable, I found were his use of colours, especially blue, yellow and green. His paintings, done in oil on linen, appeared enigmatic. They featured interior scenes with abstracted figures in them.
My favourite painting was 'Heat' with its combination of yellow, red and orange.

I also enjoyed viewing 'Alt (4 Person)' and 'P.Chair' hanging side by side with their complimentary colours.
Alt (4 Person) P.Chair
Both by Brian Harte
Other paintings that I liked were 'Untitled' with its expanse of sky blue and 'M & J' due to sections of yellow and orange.
Untitled by Brian Harte
To my eye, it evoked the sense of a wet day.

The bright warm colours popped out from a black and white background.
Broan's exhibition will run until 11th April 2025.

I went to the opening of Roisin O’Farrell’s exhibition ‘Silver \ Paper \ Gold’ at the Doorway Gallery, last night. It was packed. Roisin’s paintings looked fresh and full of life as if she had plenty of inspiration in painting them. I particularly loved her paintings of pieces of cutlery lying side by side on polished surfaces surrounded by wallpaper. It’s a simple idea which I had not seen before. The Doorway Gallery is at 24 South Fredrick Street, Dublin 2. Classy.
