the perception of academics as all out-of-touch rich white cis straight men is also absolutely not limited to this website (which plays into it both from a dark academia perspective and from a more anti-elitist/verging on anti-intellectual perspective). it is also 100% a thing on actual college campuses, even when physically face to face with professors who are people of color, women, lgbtq, disabled, and very much plugged in to the workings of the world. there is a profound difficulty in seeing that the people who teach us are in many ways like us.
Some of the guys at my school are doing something I find very funny. They have taken over an area of the cafeteria at lunch, and they request a toll to sit there. The toll is to eventually buy some fries, which they call, "community fries." Any lose change someone donates means they get some community fries. I've so far donated 50¢ to the cause
I hate when people don't believe me when I say I'm good without something.
You don't have to buy me things to win my affection, I'm not trying to be considerate of your finances, I just don't want a drink. It's okay. Sometimes I'm just not hungry and I'm not interested in that last cookie. It's okay that I really like that thing, I just don't want it. I know that eating it right now isn't what will make me feel good.
Why can't friends and family respect that I sometimes don't want things, sometimes I just want a glass of cold water with a straw. And that's good enough for me.
Normalise hand written letters again
I think I opened so many tabs google just gave up, no thoughts head empted me and just started smiling
me to everyone i meet: chill, it'll be fine! take care <3
me to myself: you walking disaster.
I just realized I could probably make friends with all the different flavours of weird kids.
Furries? furries are gay. I am also gay. We are gay, nice. Furries are generally cool ppl and so long as they know boundaries (both physical and not) I'm cool with furries
Emos? I'm also a nihilist :D also your outfit is cool I like it.
Punks? I know a fair amount of punk culture and would love to engage in anarchy with you.
Library kids? Another library kid! Let's talk books, I promise on The Agreement I will not hurt you. It's okay.
Aesthetic kids? I'm also very into aesthetics! mine is choatic academia, yours is so cool too <3
Quiet kids? I'll shut up or talk more depending on what you feel don't worry it's safe here and I'll protect you you precious being.
Geeks? Whether or not I know what you're talking about or referencing I will listen to your entire two and a half hour rant so long as I have something to do with my hands. You're so genuine when talking about this that you enjoy I love this!
Oh shit oh shit Im too fucking tired for this shit omfg kids: wanna listen to some music with me? I know a bunch of fun little spots around here we can go there, and you can vent or just vibe. Future you is so proud of you and I am too you're doing great ily.
Even if you're a "normal" kid, I'm nice but can be a little prickly when I'm tired/overstimulated, but I'll listen to you and offer any help I can when you ask for it. if you need a distraction I'll help. I will offer you the patience others have offered me and hope you do the same for the next person. I know the world is fucked up, it's scary, it's makes me want to give up sometimes. But I've promised some people that I would stay here for them, I hope you can promise someone the same. If no one comes to mind, could you promise me?
Guys I have a problem.
A very big terrible issue!
I cannot, for the life of me, remember what the name of something is.
That something just so happens to be a theatre script that I once read and would greatly like to again. It's also damn hilarious. The title has (I think) something about Babylon. The plot is about two men who are building the tower of Babylon. And it's just saying the same thing over and over again. I only ever got like 1/4-1/3 through it so Im missing a bit of info. There might also be a priest.
do you think famous poets looked at what they wrote like an hour later and went, "yo this is kinda cringe-" or is that a new development in poetry?
