Bowynn Gods: Dylan

Bowynn Gods: Dylan
Bowynn Gods: Dylan
Bowynn Gods: Dylan
Bowynn Gods: Dylan

Dylan  (Dil-lan)  Dylann is the God of harbors, shores, ports and beaches. A sea god he is the protector of boaters and fishermen and anyone that depends on the sea for livelihood or entertainment.

Son of Tane and Kauldra, Dylan is seen in one of three forms; either a bash handsome young man; A horse; or what is known as a Hippo-Ichthiocampus (The torso and head of a man, lower part of a dolphin and the front legs of a horse.) Dylan is the supplier of fish for those that are fishermen and shells for those that use them as craft. He is also the controller of tides and waves. One sacred tale speaks of a witch that stole Dylan’s powers to metamorph into his sea forms and he was kidnapped as a boat hand to row and maintain the large vessel. However, he fell into favor with the ship's captain, and they sailed to the island where the witch lived to steal his powers back. This they accomplished but at the cost of the mortal fishermen’s lives. Once he had his immortality back, Dylan changed all his friends into Dolphins and thus populated the sea. Dylan is also the herdsman of Lord Tane's sacred steeds, which are horses of the sea.

Sacred to Dylan are all the abundances of the ocean; fish, shells, coral, sea mammals, sea birds, sea plants and these all make wonderful offerings to him, as well as incense, of course. Often Dylan is seen enjoying his days on the beach, fishing, swimming and running about, either in human or horse form. At evening Dylan sometimes can be seen camped on the beach by a bonfire, feasting and watching the boats and sunset.

My Personal Prayer to Alaway

O Alaway, revered sanctuary, majestic home of the gods, I lift my heart and voice in veneration before your turquoise splendor, a creation of lord Anhur's devotion to his beloved Rhya. In the grandeur of your A-shaped embrace, where the river Muet sings beneath your foundation, I seek the warmth of your divine presence. O Alaway, dining hall of the celestial, I honor the sacred hearth that blazes in green marble brilliance, a beacon of light sustained by the hands of Io, Phoenix, and Hyu. May the aroma of divine feasts fill the air, as your kitchen, tended by the mighty, nourishes the gods and stirs the fabric of existence. I lay before you my offerings of reverence, my heart woven with gratitude for the Ano-Taya, who, through their loom, intertwine the threads of life into the very fabric of destiny. May the tapestries hanging upon your walls whisper the stories of creation, echoing the sacred moments of the first seven days for all to behold.

O Alaway, I beseech you, guard your halls and bless those who dwell within. As young Drudenn stands watch by your double doors, let me also feel your eternal welcome, guidance, and protection. Though I am a mere mortal, let my soul aspire toward your light, seeking the wisdom and strength that flow from this divine abodeIn the soft glow of alabaster lamps and the colors captured in your stained glass, I find solace and inspiration. Let the beauty of your chambers remind all of creation's wondrous tapestry, and may the essence of love, commitment, and unity be enshrined in the hearts of all who honor you. O Alaway, though veiled from mortal sight, your essence breathes life into the world. May I live in your spirit, nurturing kindness and appreciation for the gifts bestowed upon us. In the shadow of your great hall, I pledge my fidelity and devotion, for you are the heart that sustains the fabric of life. So shall it be, in the embrace of the gods' eternal feast.

BOWYNN GODS: Tii

Tii  (Ty)  Spirits of ill nature, ill luck and destruction. These evil spirits were created by the god Mano, in his attempt to raise an army to war with his cousins Kord and Brand. These destructive spirits were counter-acted with the creation of the Kii by Brand and Kord, to protect mortals from the wrath of the Tii. While many were destroyed, they could not defeat all and spread throughout the world, bringing with them many of the ills of mankind.

Tii, unlike Kii only come in one size. They are diminutive folk, much like popular fairies, with black bird with and black hair. Like their creator Mano, Tii are not called forward, invoked, worshipped or prayed to. They are destructive and if summoned will not do what they are asked to do but do as they wish. Tii are the manifested powers of all that is evil in the world. Instead, there are many rites and spells to ward these destructive Tii away.

The Bowynn Gods: Bia

(This listing starts with the 7 great divinities of Creation. The Creatrix that was at the beginning. After the 7, all other gods will be listed in alphabetical order.)

The Bowynn Gods: Bia

"Creation / Hand of Bia" - created by D. Kzmarinski 1984 - 26"x34"

Bia  (By-ah)  - In the great Bowynn tale of Creation, Bia emerged from the reign of nothingness. Bia was not so much a deity as much as being a personification of creation. Bia represents creation, the force and balance of all things. Without Bia there is only chaos. It was the emergence of Bia that put an end to emptiness, the chaos and vanquished the never ending “Mist”. From Bia was born the first gods. Bia is the very element of 'Balance.'

From Bia the first gods of creation were born: Paut, Tya, Ohenn, Brea, Unthar, Sumon, Phoenix, , and musch leter Daeth and Tora, Saul and Shayla, Maeanna and the three sisters, the Ano Taya.

Bia is the most sacred of all of the divine in the Bowynn tradition. Even the gods themselves including Anhur, bow down and give honor to Bia. In the Bowynn tradition, Bia can take the shape and/or voice of anything it please, thereby Bia was able to set down laws and judgments, and still does. There are some who solely devoted to Bia and Bia’s powers. They spend their lives in constant pursuit of attaining the goals that Bia set. Others just give Bia the most respect and live their lives in balance.

Bia has no true form as the other immortals. Bia takes the form of all and none. Therefore, Bia takes no one side. Bia is neither male nor female, mostly depicted just as a hand, as it places the stars and plants in the universal space. Bia is the perfect balance. Being that Bia is everything and is all about, all things are sacred to Bia. So many different types of offerings are sent but the most popular is simply incense or lit candle.

(Equivalent would be Khaos, Ptah, the Abrahamic "God" and other divine beings of creation.)

The Bowynn Gods: Bia

Symbolic motif of the Great Creatix with a symbol of Bia in the very center. Embroidery detail on a Hladd. created by Lorra Konrad 1991

Bowynn Gods: Dorro

Dorro  (Dor-Rho)  Dorro are the Kii guardrians of homes and stables. Of all the Kii, the Dorro are the most popular and seen depicted in every home and barn. These small Kii are said to be the size of small birds. They are born from eggs and bear bird-like wings. At times they will take the form of chimney swifts. In the home they are the guardians of the house and all that dwell in it. At times Dorro may even help the gods Io and Hyu to keep the home safe and clean. In a typical Bowynn home a special shelf is built over the front door. Here images of the Dorro, emerging from the eggs, are placed. It is considered a place for the Dorro to stay, where they are safe and out from underfoot.

QUESTION & ANSWER: LGBT

QUESTION: Is The Bowynn Faith and Tradition all inclusive? I mean would they embrace someone who is Gay?

ANSWER: Yes. We do not judge anyone by their life or love. And the gods we worship are also all embracing. We have conducted same-sex weddings in the past and we have never had any sort of incident or even a whisper of negativity. Who one loves is none of our business. We gather together as friends and family. And in our family all are welcome. So long as their actions and words are positive.

My Prayer to Briathenaea, Goddess of Inspiration

O Mighty Briathenaea, Daughter of Anhur and Rhya, I stand before you, a humble child of the Bowynn, seeking your divine protection and wisdom. Guardian of all, you who don armor yet wield your shield not in malice but in nurturing strength, I honor your presence as my guiding light. O Briathenaea, Great Protector, encircle me with your steadfast shield, granting me courage in the face of adversity. As you shielded our ancestors on their Great Migration, let your unwavering support guide me through the journeys of my life. Bestow upon me your wisdom, that I may forge my path with the strength of invention and the clarity of thought. In your name, I offer gratitude for the blessings of nature you bestowed upon us—the bounty of apple trees that nourish body and spirit. As you taught our forebears the art of cultivation, may the seeds I sow in my life flourish under your sacred guidance. May I harness the creativity that flows from you, crafting tools and words that serve the greater good.

O Divine Briathenaea, your sacred owl flies high in the sky, a symbol of your ever-watchful presence. When I find myself in need, may I see your reflection in its wise eyes, reminding me of your eternal support. And let me always cherish the horses you gifted us, powerful companions in both work and battle. Train my heart to ride with grace and strength, to face challenges boldly. O Warrior of Sage-Green, as you walk amongst us, may your wisdom inspire my actions and words. I honor the sword that remains sheathed, a reminder that true strength lies in protection, not aggression. In the image of your shield, bright with the sun and the owl, I find hope and resilience. In your honor, I lay before you votive owls, apples rich with promise, and tools of the earth. May these gifts speak to your spirit, intertwining our fates as we strive towards wisdom and unity. Allow my heart and mind to remain open to the teachings you so graciously impart. So shall it be, enveloped in the blessings of Briathenaea, the Patroness Goddess of the Bowynn.

Bowynn Gods: The Hlenn

Hlenn  (Hlen)  The Hlenn are one of the most popular of the Kii. They are much like their American/European Elven cousins and Nymphs. They are human in size and look most like mortal folk in all respects, but they are thin in nature and have long-ish ears and doe-like facial features, particularly the eyes. These Hlenn are said to be the champions and guardians of all woodlands. The know instantly when a leaf falls and withers and when a fern stalk breaks through the ground. They are very untrusting and cautious of mortal man. But there are tales of some Hlenn, male and female, that have fallen for mortals as well. However, it must be remembered that while the Hlenn looks like mortals in many ways and live like them, they are spirits and need to be respected as so. Bowynn folk will not enter a woodland nor leave it without leaving a respectable gift to the Hlenn,
