QUESTION: Is The first day of November, (All Saint's Day) also New Years in the Bowynn Tradition?

ANSWER: No. Thats a Wiccan ideology. For us, New Years day is September 1st, called "Then Ohenn."

BOWYNN GODS: UYA

Uya Jarra and her three sisters

Uya Jarra  (Yu-ya Jar-rah)  Goddess of the healing arts and physical therapy. One of the daughters of Owenn, mothered by a Kii. Primarily Uya is the goddess that rules over the healing properties of exercise to make one recover faster. She is also a patron of Nurses, doctors and physical therapists.   

      There are no sacred tales of Uya or her sisters outside of their constant vigil over mortals. Uya is said to be seen at her father’s side almost always. Her place in Alaway is rarely visited, as she is always in constant vigil of those that require her help. She is considered the “Goddess always on the move”

      Uya is described as a young goddess with light hair a dress of white with a hide coat over that. Many have seen her with a staff and scroll in hand. When not seen in this form, Uya will take the form of a Bird of some sort. Offerings to Uya are flowers and incense.

BOWYNN GODS: TAYNON

Taynon (Tay-non)  Kii of the home, hearth and children. These are probably the most reveres of all the kii. They are invoked when a new home is built and over the door of the home is built a small shrine or shelf where images of the Taynon sit. In other cases they are cared in the frame of the door. They are diminutive in size and said to have bird wings. The Taynon protect the home from all that can befall it. They also are guardians of the family and guardians of children.

Q&A: Moon Worship

QUESTION: Does the Bowynn Faith/Tradition have respectful days devoted to The Moon and Morrighynn?

ANSWER: In the Bowynn faith, we do honor Morrighynn highly. But if you are pertaining to worship like Wiccan "Drawing down the Moon" ceremonies; then the answer is 'No." We do not celebrate Full Moons. We do recognize the power of the moon and the blessings of her ladyship. However, what some Bowynn may do, is simply moon-soak. That is to say we will bask in the light of the moon if we are compelled to do so. We allow its energy to soak into our bodies and its it cleanse and heal. But there is no formal ceremony. We do not "Draw do the Moon" as we see it is very disrespectful to our lady Morrighynn, as well as to the Thracians, Northern Hellen (Greek) an Aegyptian cultures who performed these practices. We see and feel the power of the moon without taking from it. And not just the full moons, but all phases.

Bowynn Gods: Ikarro

Ikarro  (Ih-kar-ro) The Milky Way. The bridge that lead the gods to earth at the beginning of time. The bridge was removed after the creatrix goddess Brea descended to earth and became trapped there. The Ikarro is a divine symbol of where there was chaos and sadness, balance and happiness will come. 

Bowynn Gods: Chappa

Chappa  (Chop-pah)  Chappa Kii are the Mountain spirits. Their reign is from the foothills to the peaks of all mountains. These Kii are titanic in size and are made out of rock or said to have flesh as strong as rock. If both be the case, then there may well be two types of Chappa Kii. Like all Kii, the Chappa are not evil spirits but will seek equal revenge to those that insist on destroying the mountains they reside around. On the other hand, there are tales of Chappa granting blessings on mortals as well who help them maintain their mountain homes. Some sacred stories and tales speak of a Chappa that would leading lost hikers or travelers back on their right path.  In tradition when one looks at a mountain, one would say "Thats a Chappa" or "That is the home of that Chappa of that mountain. A strong equivalent to the Chappa would be what is today "Giants" and certain Titans of Greek mythology.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             

Bowynn Gods: Huru

Huru  (Hu-Ru)  The Huruu are a Kii species that live in and guard holy and sylvanian places on earth, where the Akua will often visit. They are much like the Greek and Roman nymphs, in that they are mostly women. Most claim to have seen then as being human size, very lean and very fast. They shy away from humans entirely and want nothing to do with them. Any human found in such a Sylvanian place the Huru will chase away or punish, depending on the nature of the intrusion.

QUESTION: In your tradition's do your witches use Familiars and Guardians? If so, how are they summoned?

ANSWER: No. Mysts do not have any need nor summon any sort of creatures or spiritual animals. Our belief here is that a true working Myst is on guard and protected at all times. And that there is nothing a mystical creature can provide that we can not handle on our own. We do not believe in the calling of the spirits of the dead. As it is seen as rude, disrespectful and sacrilegious.

Blessed Winter Solstice

Aelles Anj Ohenn

Today is the Bowynn last day of the year. "Anj Ohenn. Literally meaning "Old Year." Which falls on August 31. It is followed by Then Ohenn "New Years".

Unlike western/mundane New Years (December 31/January 1st) It is not just a holiday to get drunk, kiss a girl and call it good. Anj Ohenn has a greater significance. The year is over in the Bowynn tradition, it is the transition of Summer months to Autumn months. Anj Ohenn is the eve before the birth of the god Ohenn, the god of Time itself. It is a 2 day holiday to reflect on how one's time is spent. A time of beginnings and ends. Old projects end and new projects begin. It is also the official first day of Harvest and great offers are made to Deanna on Anj Ohenn and Then Ohenn.

Instead of a glass of wine or other alcohol beverages, the holiday is celebrated with feasting and fun all day long. But it is all done in respects to the gods of the Harvest and Time. Foods of the harvest. In the morning homes are swept clear with chants to be rid of old energy. And on Then Ohenn, a plant or tree seedling is purchased or harvested and brought into the house. In Altars, images of Mice and grain are placed to insure abundance for the new year. Turquoise coins are kissed and then given as gifts, as wishes for others to have a new year. Twelve or Twenty-Four small poppets filled with grains of all sorts are also gifted to young girls and displayed, representing the Nauidd; the daughters of Ohenn and goddesses of the hours. All sorts of time pieces are given as gifts. It is also a holiday to clean and maintain such time pieces.

In the last few years a character has been created to help children understand the true meaning of the holiday, named "Orry." the story tells of Orry as he learns how time is often wasted throughout the year and not used wisely. But in the end he gathers enough seed to give to the birth of baby Ohenn and the magic of the birth increases his meager cluster of grain 100 times over. Enough to get him through the year.
