This concept is only fun to me in a 2012 Jonatello context- Mainly because I just don't have Casey react at all and be like, "Cool. ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯ " half the time- LMAO

one of my moots was yappin about this shit but I AGREE SO MUCH

there are so many sad scenes in tmnt 2012 where donnie has genuine body dysmorphia, even going as far as to call himself a monster in some cases (if I remember correctly)

in that one episode when they face their "greatest fears" donnie's is the idea of april seeing him as just a freak of nature (despite the fact she does little to imply this thought and none of his brothers share this fear, most likely because they've never viewed themselves as monsters the way donnie has seen himself throughout the series)

none of the others ever see their mutation as negative in anyway other than donnie, although it is useful, it often feels as if it makes him feel like a freak undeserving of love

If I had a nickel for every time I've made a tmnt 2012 AU bc I had ideas for cool character designs but got emotionally invested in writing a story to go along with it I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice
