Yes that’s right! There is a way to make the Sims 3 run faster!

Nitromon over at Mod the Sims has found a program that allows you to ‘unpark’ your drives- allowing your game to take advantage of more of your CPU.

Used in combination with Overwatch, Save Cleaner and a whole bevy of other fixes, you’ll be enjoying faster gameplay from now on!

Quick n’ Easy Tutorial

Download & install ParkControl (Here: https://bitsum.com/parkcontrol/)

Run the program

Under Parking AC & Parking DC, disable both options. Click Apply. Don’t touch anything else.

That’s it! Now enjoy buttery-smooth gameplay and less lag!

When I’m done, I usually turn Parking AC & Parking DC back on until the next time I play.

FYI this program does not alter any Sims game files- it changes whether or not your computer puts aside CPU cores to extend battery life (which doesn’t matter since you’re probably going to be plugged in for the Sims 3).

Windows 7 is programmed to use 4 cores at any time, so don’t worry about any parked cores being used for background tasks. If you’re concerned about your computer, set the percentage under Parking AC/DC to leave one core parked. If you’re using a laptop like I am, I would also suggest using a temperature monitoring software like Speed Fan or Core Temp regardless of whether or not you unpark your drives.

If your drives are already unparked, if you have Windows 8+, or you have a computer that can barely run the Sims 3, then this program likely won’t help. Read the MTS thread for a more thorough explanation and discussion.

I found that:

Loading times were improved

Catalogue items, Create-a-Style & Create-a-Sim loaded up faster

Gameplay was faster & smoother

Instead of 4 cores, I was able to fully use 8 cores. Obviously this will differ depending on your computer CPU.

For anyone with doubts- just back up your Sims 3 Documents folder before trying this!

AINALI by technicallyswagpizza

Ainali lies at the northern end of Finland where pristine blue lakes are surrounded by dense green forests. The rural village itself boasts of pretty, colourful traditional houses. Ainali is a destination for people who want to experience wild nature and love being outdoors, be it fishing, hiking, biking or simply getting lost. Also a great place for introverts to unite! As far away from other people as possible, of course.

I turned into a bit of a world collector *coughhoardercough* while I have been on a mission to find a perfect world that suits my playstyle and aesthetics plus is relatively small and lag free. I haven’t found many worlds that are based on Scandinavia let alone Finland, but I stumbled upon Vera’s Sammallampi awhile ago and I fell in love with it! It made me feel all fuzzy inside as it reminded me of my childhood and sweet summer holidays by the Ainali lake. I edited the world for my own enjoyment initially, but as I have been doing so I figured I might as well share it with the rest of you simmers since it really is a nifty little world!

What has changed then?

The playable area is now a medium map within a large world map, if that makes sense. Even though the lots are a little spread out around the lake it won’t take several sim hours to drive from one end to the other.

The original distant terrain didn’t load for me, so I replaced it with ones from Twinbrooks and Island Paradise.

Updated some of the textures such as grass and soil to use Nilxis textures instead.

I have fixed all the roads, spawners and overall routing, I removed one of the piers as it was causing routing issues as well. Sadly, I had to make the small islands unroutable too.

I removed quite a lot of trees, but it is still very much a tree heavy world.

I have tamed all the floating grasses and trees.

I added more lots and changed the size for some of the originals.

I created a lighting mod and included it in the world file.

Finally, I renamed it after my childhood stomping grounds.

But wait, there is more! I have made two versions for you to choose from!

#1 Empty world // Requirements:

Base-game and Ambitions, Island Paradise distant terrain is included in the download incase you don’t have the pack installed.

Map is completely empty, has a wide variety of spawners and ready to be built by you. Go crazy!

#2 Built and ready to move in! // Requirements:

Base game, World Adventures, Ambitions, Generations, Late Night, Showtime, University Life, Aurora Skies store world, (Island Paradise is optional).

CC included in the download: Aurora Skies, Rabbit hole rugs & doors by Jynx (Pet fixed), distant terrain from Island Paradise. CC not included: Bistro rug by Misty as per her TOU, download it here. (Registration needed)

All the lots are built and furnished.

I want to emphasize that this is very much a base game friendly world with some items used from the rest of the packs listed above simply for their functionality (Late Night for bars, University for baristas and grocery rabbithole, Ambitions for skilling items, Generations for a wedding arch etc) and as the world is based on a nordic village I used Aurora Skies stuff in it as well but it’s mostly just roofs, paneling and the lovely lupin flowers that come with it. If you don’t have some of the expansion packs or don’t want to install Aurora Skies the items I have used will simply be replaced by something else from your own game. Nothing should break, but some bits might look a little bare or funky due to the replaced items!

Almost there, just few more bits!

I have created a lighting mod for Ainali and included it in the world file itself, I would recommend at least trying it out (by taking your own lighting mod out of Mods/Packages folder to see it in action)! If you like Ainali’s lighting and want to use it in other worlds or as a standalone mod, shoot me a message and I’ll make a package for you.

This world comes with 16 Community lots, 14 Residential lots and 2 empty lots. I have not included population.

Ainali comes with basic rabbit hole careers you would get in a vanilla game. Even though I have all the expansions I rarely if ever play with pets or occult sims, so lots related to them you have to add yourself (Festival lots, future and showtime bits).

I would strongly advise downloading Nraas Go Here and disabling boats. They will cause lag as townies have a habit of looping around endlessly. Same with horses, really, as they tend to get stuck.

Some houses and lots may look familiar as I have edited and used EA lots as a base + 2 lots from doublemedion694′s Cladbridge-on-Stowe (one was made by Reachsim) and 1 lot from CAW blog’s Amberville.

You do NOT need the original Sammallampi world installed for Ainali to work. This is a completely new world that simply used Sammallampi as a base.

So just to make sure this is clear, everything else aside from the rabbit hole rugs/doors are entirely, utterly, completely cc free. I used Nilxis textures while building in CAW, but you don’t have to download them nor will they have an impact on your game outside of Ainali. The rest is just pure vanilla EA base game stuff, part of expansion packs or Aurora Skies.

WASD → ZQSD ; Controls for AZERTY mod

Hello fellow Simmers who use an AZERTY keyboard like me and play The Sims 3. Isn’t the camera hard to control if you don’t switch to QWERTY when you get into the game? It is… unless you get used to it.

So I created a mod to fix that. Unfortunately, as you know CTRL+Z is “Undo”, it conflicts with the shortcut because there are “pitch up / down” controls (CTRL+W / CTRL+X on QWERTY), which just make the camera rotate on the X axis. I tried to change it but… idk, it was the same as before. :c + I did look pretty much everywhere if someone already made a mod like that after all these years, but I didn’t find anything. Instead I found people saying it was impossible to change the controls lol

🐓 Pour les francophones qui me liraient (et/ou qui chercheraient ce genre de chose sur un moteur de recherche), j’ai créé un mod pour changer les touches contrôlant la caméra dans Les Sims 3, parce que bouger ses doigts dans tous les sens et se tromper de touche à chaque fois juste parce que j’ai pas envie de passer au QWERTY euh… non merci xd J’ai testé, ça fonctionne sans souci. Bon, si, il y a un souci… CTRL+Z ne fonctionne plus (plus pour annuler, ça bouge la caméra à la place). :’-( Il y a un fichier que j’ai tenté de modifier mais ça créait plein de conflicts donc j’ai laissé tomber. Au moins c’est moins la galère pour bouger la caméra avec un clavier azerty donc je ne trouve pas cela si dérangeait que ça. Bon voilà, j’ai pas créé de version FR pour les images au dessus mais si vous avez un anglais basique correct (niveau école primaire quoi), vous devriez comprendre sans problème.

Instructions: 1) Cliquez sur MF ou MEGA au dessus, ça vous redirigera vers Mediafire ou MEGA où vous pourrez télécharger le fichier .package. 2) Une fois le fichier téléchargé, mettez-le dans le dossier Overrides qui se trouve à l’adresse suivante: C:\Users\(nom)\Documents\Electronic Arts\Les Sims 3\Mods\Overrides ; si vous ne l’avez pas, cherchez comment installer des mods sur Internet. 🤔

Glistening in the afternoon sun, yellow, red and white houses cling to rocky shores and fishing boats bob in the water. The verdant pine forests turn to charming leafy tunnels, framing every view. Time stops, people live a quiet life here."

Kaiho is a word that is a bit more difficult to translate as it has a certain type of melancholic nuance to it that nostalgia or longing for something doesn't cover exactly. Kaihola is my ode to Finland, an undefinable sadness that won't go away. The world is loosely based on two islands off the coast of Finland, Hailuoto and Ahvenanmaa, and my tiny hometown up north.

FEATURES

Medium sized map.

35 lots all in all spread across the island.

Unpopulated.

Includes a base camp enabling you to use Kaihola as a travel destination.

Spanking new distant terrain and matching terrain painting textures.

Wide variety of regular spawners, no World Advenures or ITF

Custom lighting mod included in the world file.

But wait, there is more! I have made two versions for you to choose from!

All expansion packs except ITF (No stuff packs!). Yikes! It's a lot for an empty world and boy don't I know it! I'm fairly sure I have used every other expansion except ITF for the landscaping. Some more than the others, however if you are missing an expansion pack, the trees and shrubs I have used will simply be replaced by something else.

CC used: Distant terrain, some of the flowers and trees made by me + Hidden Springs decorative barns + Aurora Skies birch tree are included in the download.

Map is completely empty, has a wide variety of spawners and is ready to be built by you.

Empty diving lot off the coast somewhere.

Two options for world installation, either through the launcher as a sims3pack OR bypass the launcher and drop the world package file in the designated folder.

Optional terrain painting textures made by me available for download if you wish to use them for landscaping your lots in game.

In the screenshots above I have maxed out settings and Reshade enabled, but my preset is very subtle and it only adds a soft blur effect and strengthens shadows a little bit. I don't edit my screenshots other than crop and resize them with photoshop, so basically what you see above is what you will get :>
