WARNING!!! mindless yapping about the spongebob musical. reader discretion is advised (because you may want to rip my mouth off cuz im gonna be yapping)
so i was going along with my day, sewing stuff, right? i then realize. oh my kangel, i think squidward hates himself. so hear me out, okay? squidwards solo song is "I'm Not a Loser". this entire song, he is trying to convince himself that hes not a loser. so for context, squidward had been put on duty to set up the electric skates concert. after he messes up once (which it wasnt even a big deal?) and the band calls him a loser. this obviously effected him, which is kind of strange. in the show, he never seemed to be bothered by such small comments. plus, hes the one always being a jerk to everyone else. thats his whole personality within the show. it had really effected him when they called him that, right? so after that interaction, he has his whole solo number. the entire song consists of him telling himself hes not a loser, hes not alone, hes not a failure and so on. one line that sticks out is "i dont secretly hate myself" to me, it feels like hes trying to convince himself against what he truly thinks. it gets so bad he literally starts hallucinating the background dancers, telling him that hes not a loser! the dancers (who are sea anemones) literally tell him he isnt hallucinating them, which is quite the opposite of what is happening.
so really, theyre just telling him the opposite of what he truly thinks. we know he is all alone during this but at the end of the song, this is what the bg dancers say
so really, everything said in the song is contridicting what really is happening, hence how i got the idea, squidward hates himself and sees himself as a bad person. im gonna write more abt it later maybe but like. im done 4 now. thank you for coming to my ted talk
i was scrolling through my likes with my friend earlier and forgot abt smth i saved. we were going thru and i see smth and scroll past. they make me go back up and it was ship art! they kept scrolling thru and it was ALL THE SAME SHIP FOR AT LEAST 30 LIKED THING
