Hey any last minute revision tips for tests/exams? I always struggle with it

Hey there Anon!

First of all, during revision, I try my level best to recall everything without actually going through the topic but it's kinda difficult so glance through the topic before you close the book and recall every single point.

Revise the chapters that you know well and are confident in first because it's better to thoroughly know some specific topics than being doubtful in every single topic.

Do not, under any circumstances, start to learn a new topic during revision (unless the topic is like really really important). It will only cause you panic.

If you find yourself distracted, move around alittle.

More distractions? Act like you're a tutor or teacher.

Don't study the whole topic line by line, recall important key words and examples.

Don't set a time limit for each topic. Set time limits for the whole syllabus. (Like, if you have 12 lessons. Think you'll complete 6 of them by the afternoon, allow 2 hours grace time and viola, you now know half the syllabus completely)

Take breaks. Both the 20 mins and 20 second breaks (-> 20 sec post)

Eat some snacks in between. I personally don't prefer meals because I get really lazy and sleepy after that.

Do not call your friends to ask how much they've revised because you'll definitely panick.

Go through your material. If you don't remember a topic which you actually have studied, write short notes just beside it.

Use past question papers and practice problems.

Quiz yourself. Say your answers out loud.

If you have no idea where to start, just go from the shortest chapters because then you'll feel like you have completed some syllabus.

Lastly, whatever you do, sleep early. Atleast before 11 pm because you need to be fresh for the exam.

Basically. Recall. Summarise. Quiz. Repeat.

Hope this helped! <3

Day 4/ Day 9

I completed my exam today and nothing else unless reading an extremely cringey e-book counts xD

So yeah... and my exam was meh... not too good, not too bad. I still have like one exam left and then I'm done with junior year!

Heyy! :D

I'm so glad you liked it! It's Acotar themed and I'm kinda obsessed with Velaris at the moment so it seems fair xD

Anyways, thanks for taking the time and letting me know, i really appreciate it! <3

Asks are still open. I'm literally free all day xD

I'm kinda running out of ideas, my brain's been fried these days. So, if you have any topic that you're interested in regarding high school or generally studying or anything, don't be shy to send an ask. I seriously need some ideas

When people say they feel tired all the time, my only question is "What time do you sleep?" Like, If you sleep at 2 in the morning, of course you'll feel tired.

Don't set alarms in the morning. Set alarms to go to sleep. The max time you can stay awake is 12.

You sleep at the right time and you will automatically change for the better.

Don't push your body to do work beyond it's limit.

Day 8/ Day 8

I know it was a 9 day thing but it was because I had to go to school tomorrow but now I don't need to cause I just dropped by picked up my things and certificates etc etc... so my break starts here!!

The exam was alright, kinda unexpected paper but it's done now!

So what am i gonna do for 2 whole months?

Finish a course that I've been ignoring for way too long

Read as much as I can

Post some study related content here

I'll be posting a weekly reading challenge later on, like cause I wanna actually see how i complete it xD

Guess it's the same everywhere T-T i seriously get these questions atleast once a week... people need to slow done alittle... atleast I'm not alone

A Reminder To Those Who Need It.

I got this question a lot and I'm absolutely tired of hearing it...

"What are you doing in college?", "What are your plans after senior year?"

Like, I don't even know what I'm gonna do over the break or the next whole year, so, i thought maybe it's like this for everyone. People are expected to decide everything like it won't actually impact their life. Most of my class is damn sure about what they wanna do while me? I just wanna pass senior year with good grades and think about it slowly and with a clearer head.

For me, the main thing that matters is that i shouldn't regret taking something i don't like and I don't wanna rush the whole decision up. And i just got like such judgy eyes... ugh... Like, I don't know what i want... Why is that not okay nowadays? Why is taking time to figure it out not alright?

So, to everyone who's in a situation like me...

You don't have to have everything figured out, if you don't know what you're gonna do, that's completely fine. Take your time, it's not a race.

Honestly, it can be quite confusing and you may feel like you might be kinda lax about it but honestly, it's definitely okay :)

You're not obliged to rush your decisions just because another person has already made theirs.

Just wanted to say that... okay, bye.

hey! do you have any tips for avoiding burnout when there’s just so much to do? i usually go really hard the first few days of the week and then crash for the rest, which ends up making me fall behind and feel worse. i’m really struggling to find a balance between staying productive and not completely draining myself :D

Hey Anon! :) Thanks for the ask :D

You can also refer to How To Study / Work During A Burnout

How To Avoid Burnout While Studying

Periodic Gaps

Breaks are seriously important. I don't follow pomodoro and it doesn't really work for me. I recommend taking breaks when you are actually tired. It doesn't matter if you work straight for 1 hour and then take a break. I feel like it's better than taking unnecessary breaks.

Snacking / Hydration

Snacking and hydration are a must. I recommend light snacking like nuts or fruits or some chocolates. I wouldn't go for heavy meals because they always make me feel sleepy.

Breaks

Breaks should be taken when you start feeling tired. Don't push yourself. The best way to recuperate is to rest. Appropriate break time is important. I usually divide my study time by half and that is my break time.

Break = Study Time / 2

Sleep

Sleep is a must. Don't sacrifice your sleep for studying. During exams, 7-8 hours of sleep is a must. Don't stay awake after 12, you'll regret it. And sleep is different from breaks. You should not consider them the same.

"Off Days"

This concept worked well for me because i'll be honest, it was relaxing. Have "off days". At least 1 day per week. On this day, you don't work, you don't study. You just relax. And I know you may say, "I don't have time to rest" or "I'll fall behind" but it's better than forcing yourself to work and grind and then ending up not working for days. So, have off days.

Tip: I'll recommend Saturdays because it's perfect for the day off. On Sunday you'll be worrying about the work due on Monday. The rest of the days wouldn't give you rest because of school.

Prioritize

You need not do all your work at the beginning of the week. Work should be spread out over days. Prioritizing work is what needs to be done. Write everything that should be done (or make a mental check list) and then write the due dates for all the assignments and then align your energy and study sessions accordingly.

Manage Energy

Managing your energy is quite easy. You divide your tasks based on three categories. Low level. Middle level. High level.

Low level tasks include reviewing notes and flashcards.

Middle level tasks include assignments and projects.

High level tasks include learning a topic from scratch, solving a practice paper.

Now figure out your energy level tasks and accordingly align your tasks to your energy. It's easier than forcing yourself to do a high-level energy task when you're on low energy.

These tasks may be different for everyone. A high-level task for you may be middle or low level for someone else.

Burnout Effect

In one way, burnout is good. Honestly, some people's highest point is 30 mins or an hour. They find burnout creeping in after some time had passed. And that is why, if you want to reach at least two hours of studying. You need to push that limit. Every single time. Try moving 30 mins every week. Your max limit is 1 hour. Then this week, study for 1 hr 30 mins. The next week, study for 2hrs. then 2hr 30 mins. Do it for a few weeks.

If you don't push yourself to the max limit. Then you'll never actually reach your goal.

Today was... Alright , I guess? I'm not sure how to feel, it's literally the 3rd day of school and we have a test tomorrow :/ not like I'm gonna study for that test, I'm gonna wing it and follow my own schedule this year because last time our teachers just messed everything up by giving unimportant topics as tests :///

Anyways...

Completed writing notes for lesson 1 in Economics

Read all the poetry in our English syllabus

Wrote short notes for Computer lesson 1

Revised some Arabic
