Theory: The Newgrounds attack takes place On October 2nd, immediately after Dark and Chosen escape.

I’ve touched upon how I think the Timeline is a little wonky in this regard before, but I just couldn’t stop thinking about it.

And I think I’ve figured it out.

When Victim first escapes Alan’s PC, he first goes to Yahoo.

Theory: The Newgrounds Attack Takes Place On October 2nd, Immediately After Dark And Chosen Escape.

I even made a joke about it in my last post, about how Alan’s taken the piss out of Yahoo before.

But, well, that previous time?

Theory: The Newgrounds Attack Takes Place On October 2nd, Immediately After Dark And Chosen Escape.

The Flashback.

But moreso: Yahoo is the first thing Chosen and Dark are shown attacking during the Flashback.

Both Victim AND Chosen and Dark end up at Yahoo after they escape.

And there might be a reason for it:

Theory: The Newgrounds Attack Takes Place On October 2nd, Immediately After Dark And Chosen Escape.

Alan’s PC was originally tethered to Yahoo. [It also seemed to have an offshoot connection to MSN, which it took me an hour to identify that logo as I was unfamiliar with it.] That was the primary webstring (tunnel, but I wanna call them webstrings bc world wide web) to his IP box. And His IP only originally has one webstring coming out of it.

Theory: The Newgrounds Attack Takes Place On October 2nd, Immediately After Dark And Chosen Escape.

Until Victim does...Whatever THIS is. And causes ALL OF THE IP addresses to become tethered to the Outernet directly.

[Victim not being uploaded anywhere and coming directly from a PC in a rocket made of computer program parts might have significance on why the Barrier became connected to the IP Boxes, but that’s a different theory for another day.]

So currently, Alan’s PC has two connections to it: One that leads to Yahoo/MSN, and another that leads directly to the Outernet.

We all assumed that Chosen and Dark went right to the Outernet when they left his old PC, because it was implied that that tunnel was the same one Chosen had COME from and that he and the Color Gang were currently going through; a webstring that does spit them out into the Outernet.

Theory: The Newgrounds Attack Takes Place On October 2nd, Immediately After Dark And Chosen Escape.

But they didn’t.

Dark and Chosen did not go through the Outernet webstring.

They went to through the YAHOO webstring.

Theory: The Newgrounds Attack Takes Place On October 2nd, Immediately After Dark And Chosen Escape.

I refuse to believe it’s a coincidence that they ended up on Yahoo first, or just happened to choose to attack Yahoo first, when Yahoo is shown to be directly connected to Alan’s IP box.

They never went to the Outernet. They went from Alan’s PC DIRECTLY TO Yahoo.

Which means that the first part of the Flashback is showing the events of what Chosen and Dark did IMMEDIATELY after they escaped.

Yahoo was the first place they were spit out into, so they decided to destroy it too. Why not? They just literally got done destroying Alan’s computer, why not wreck more human shit?

Victim and Chosen/Dark’s paths differ after Yahoo.

Victim goes to Runescape, then Myspace, to the Singh Family IP Box, where he crashes out of and into GracesPC, where he’s taken to Newgrounds, and then he crashes into the Outernet.

Chosen and Dark, if the Flashback showed their complete journey, went from Yahoo, to Angry Birds, to StickPage, to Newgrounds.

Theory: The Newgrounds Attack Takes Place On October 2nd, Immediately After Dark And Chosen Escape.

The websites are shown to have dozens, if not hundreds of webstrings attached to them. Each leading to different places: other websites, other programs, other IP Boxes.

It’s totally possible that Dark and Chosen just went through a different webstring than Victim did to end up at Angry Birds instead, especially if they stopped to destroy Yahoo. Victim just made a (somewhat straight) shot through. But they could have just picked an exit at random.

I made a diagram for it:

Theory: The Newgrounds Attack Takes Place On October 2nd, Immediately After Dark And Chosen Escape.

It this theory is true, then it implies that StickPage is the first time both Dark and Chosen are seeing other living stick figures besides each other.

And that some HUGE implications.

Do Chosen and Dark realize what they’re doing, when they’re attacking stick figures?

Do they understand that other sticks are alive like them? That other sticks can be hurt, that they can feel pain? Do Chosen and Dark have a concept of death? Do they even realize they’re causing death to the sticks they’re attacking?

Dark was literally just created THAT DAY. How much does he know? How much does he understand?

How much knowledge does a stick figure possess, innately, when they’re created?

Chosen has been alive for 4 and a half years, but he’d been imprisoned and enslaved. He’d never seen another stick figure before Dark. All he knew was fighting, being forced to destroy pop-ups, and trying to escape. Does HE know the nature of other living things? Does HE know how to behave towards others of his kind? Does HE understand the concept of death?

Dark was made to kill Chosen, and the first moments of his life were spent attempting to fulfill that purpose. And then he went immediately into destroying the computer. And then immediately into destroying websites.

Dark had nothing to teach him that wanton destruction and mass murder wasn’t okay to do. He and Chosen simply did them, and he found he liked doing them. He didn’t have a moral compass to tell him it was wrong, and he didn’t have the opportunity to properly develop one. There was no resistance to prevent him from becoming a psychopath who enjoyed hurting and killing other living beings.

Because Chosen certainly wasn’t stopping him. Not yet, at any rate.

But Chosen...Chosen was older. Chosen had experienced different things from Dark. Chosen probably experienced pain and fear at Alan’s hands. (Victim’s backstory has got me fully doubting that Chosen was just left to twiddle his thumbs when he wasn’t being used as a pop-up blocker. Alan hurt Chosen too. Chosen just probably never died from it.) Was that enough to give him the basis for a sense of morality? Enough to instill him with the ability to empathize?

Theory: The Newgrounds Attack Takes Place On October 2nd, Immediately After Dark And Chosen Escape.

Is that why Chosen pauses, when Mitsi dies? Is he starting to realize the full consequences of their actions? That they’re killing sticks?

Or does none of this even matter? Was Dark made from the start to be an evil psychopath and that’s why he is the way he is? Was Chosen made ‘normal’ and simply chose to be an asshole because he was angry?

How much of it is their nature vs their lack of life experience?

This might be the reason why Chosen is participating in the Newgrounds attack. It’s so early into HIS life that he hasn’t had those changes to his morals yet. This might be the START of that change. The instigating event. The things that start causing him doubt his own actions, that eventually blooms into distaste and guilt. That eventually allows him to see that Dark’s behavior isn’t right.

That allows him to recognize his own behavior isn’t right.

The Flashback attacks have set in motion the divide between them on what their characters eventually become: Chosen develops a sense of morality, Dark does not.

Both the party and the Flashback attacks are happening on October 2nd, 2011, mere hours after Chosen and Dark have escaped.

There IS one potential snag to this theory, and that's the escape portal.

Theory: The Newgrounds Attack Takes Place On October 2nd, Immediately After Dark And Chosen Escape.

And that is, admittedly, a massive one.

That LOOKS like a Chosen-made portal. It even makes the same sounds as the ones in The Virus and The Chosen One Returns did.

But we never see nor hear what a 'normal' entrances/exit to a website looks like. We see Victim exiting them in side profile, not as they look from the surface level.

It's very possible that Chosen is just opening up the entrance into a webstring when he makes his portals.

Theory: The Newgrounds Attack Takes Place On October 2nd, Immediately After Dark And Chosen Escape.

The webstring to the Outernet already exists. He's not MAKING a connection, just opening a door.

And a webstring from Newgrounds to the Outernet ALSO already exists.

Theory: The Newgrounds Attack Takes Place On October 2nd, Immediately After Dark And Chosen Escape.

That's what I think the escape portal is, this webstring that was made when Victim fundamentally changed the entire fabric of digital reality by complete accident. Dude had a busy day that day.

Honestly, I don't think even The Chosen One has the ability to MAKE webstrings. They seem like they're fundamental connections across the internet that had been pretty well established before Victim did his thing. And that was a MASSIVE amount of energy that was released to create those new webstrings.

The entire way the internet digital space works feels very cosmic to me. Like some massive inspiration was taken from the universe in it's design. The IP Boxes look like stars, the websites planets, and they sheer nothingness in between feels like a vacuum.

I don't think it's IMPOSSIBLE to make new webstrings [I actually theorize Dark figured out how to do so with the cliff side portals] just...

Beyond Chosen's ability to do so himself.

Hence: the webstring between Newgrounds and the Outernet.

The wobbly weird-sounded hole in the ground might just be what they look like naturally. Or someone else opened it. We have no confirmation that's an ability unique to Chosen.

So that's my theory. Chosen and Dark never went to the Outernet before they started their rampage. They rampaged, and THEN probably went to the Outernet.

Theory: The Newgrounds Attack Takes Place On October 2nd, Immediately After Dark And Chosen Escape.

Where they probably got stuck, for at least a little bit. Cuz, y'know, the Sky Barrier is solid. (Also hey Signh Family IP)

Purple being left completely untouched by the narrative, being raised by two confused parents who know nothing more than their artificial nurture. How to progress from being halted by the 2011 tragedy which affected them. The two can only do so much until some forbidden traits make their development, and in the worst way possible.

Purple Being Left Completely Untouched By The Narrative, Being Raised By Two Confused Parents Who Know

Navy and Orchid nuzzling up against each other and Purple. Navy seemingly resting the weight of his chin up top Purple's head, like a peck. Orchid burying her head into the crook of Navy's neck, nuzzling Purple's face. They were really, really in love.

and then the 2011 tragedy happens somewhat somewhere

Purple Being Left Completely Untouched By The Narrative, Being Raised By Two Confused Parents Who Know

Purple visibly grows, and Navy presents a material pose of combat, implying Purple to follow. Purple seems confused here, and then he looks towards his mom.

He wants to know Orchid's opinion of this—as a confused, stranded child would typically do in a situation as his.

Children, when foreign to these scenarios, will look for the approval of their other present parent before proceeding with a following action. In here, Orchid stands still, and her pose seems neutral, but she doesn't say no. And Purple proceeds. I thought this was a nice detail.

I feel like this adds a bit to Purple's relationship with his mom. Purple is comfortable enough towards her and he looks for reassurance in her when he is uncertain. That vulnerability is important. He really trusts her. And Orchid trusts him back.

I also feel like I can add onto Orchid from here. When she does not have a clear answer, she stays neutral/unresponsive instead of a shrug or such. This allows Purple to make his own decision on what he believes is okay. Instead of being dismissive.

Purple Being Left Completely Untouched By The Narrative, Being Raised By Two Confused Parents Who Know

When attacking, Purple throws valueless punches and kicks. Navy seemed to be allowing these rational, seemless blows, not budging. Redundantly shielding before attacking back with a somewhat rough punch to the gut, pushing him back.

In contrast to doing absolutely nothing. His ideal for "tutoring" isn't exactly clear, nor the best.

I can add onto Navy from here. Navy revolves around common sense. He is prone to adapt and rather quickly on his ideals. Once he has a clear goal, he will do whatever to achieve it. He is implied to be in a position of authority/control, and he seems to be short tempered. He wants the same for Purple. His method of this however, is far from coherent when targeted towards someone who is unfamiliar.

I believe this is Navy's flaw. Wanting the best for Purple materially-wise, but his approaches are not appropriate nor comprehensible like a strict parental role grounding should be. Appearing much more as a mentor; leader role. But not a father. Strictly leading more towards that uncompleted writing.

Purple would have nearly trampled to the ground if it weren't for Orchid catching him before he does.

I would like to mention Orchid's language here. She seems to be neutral while silently watching the banter. There wasn't anything to be concerned or worried of, until she stepped foward to catch her son. Her presence and relationship here is important, as mentioned.

When she catches Purple, she (very swiftly) glances towards Navy then back to Purple. She reads the room, implying she is quite observant, and immediately offered a comforting embrace, just as Purple came clinging to her for that comfort. She definitely knows her baby, that's for sure.

But this ends up dramatically changing.

I feel like this adds a layer onto Purple and Orchid's relationship. Orchid is quick to provide that care. She knows when to provide it. Purple has a secure attachment towards her and trusts her to respond towards his needs.

Navy idles a light pester for Purple to stand his ground and continue. This prompts a glance of judgement? Disgust? Concern? from Orchid, targeted towards—attempting to incriminate him. To reflect on those actions.

This got dismissed by a stomp of Navy's foot. The moment he's not in control he resorts to shouting and raising his manner. Keep in note that Orchid is absent throughout the entire second sequence.

Purple Being Left Completely Untouched By The Narrative, Being Raised By Two Confused Parents Who Know

Navy, once again, does a gesture to continue. This time it was much more swift. Not coherent on the first watch. Purple significantly grows here again, and for whatever reason, this halts the grounding for a mere second as both acknowledge this. For what reason was the growth such a great significance?

I interpret that the growth somewhat stunned the two as they acknowledge that they are equally stranded. The two shares a common trait; abandonment by the narrative and lost in their assigned role. No further action can be developed, but the difference is Navy being willing to push those bounds if it means something for himself. He needs to feel worth, he wants to do his role justice, he wants to compliment that purpose he was coded with.

Purple Being Left Completely Untouched By The Narrative, Being Raised By Two Confused Parents Who Know

Both pushes this aside, and they proceed with the sparring. The intentions of Purple's kicks and punches aren't laced with confusion and uncertainty, but with a clear goal now that Purple is aware of the context; his dad wishes for him to be a profession in combat.

Now that this is established, Navy doesn't hold back, and he throws a harsh gesture of demand towards Purple to continue.

And as mentioned, Orchid isn't present throughout all of this.

I take this all as a direct contrast to the previous banter. Navy's near audibility, and Orchid's occupancy. It's all apparent when recalling the sequence. Directly, I like to interpret this as a mere rough visual on the substantial (and noticeable) change and gap.

Purple Being Left Completely Untouched By The Narrative, Being Raised By Two Confused Parents Who Know
Purple Being Left Completely Untouched By The Narrative, Being Raised By Two Confused Parents Who Know

Navy's gesture was linked with a harsh eagerness instead of a lighthearted pester.

Orchid could not catch Purple before he could be roughly pushed to the ground this time.

Purple Being Left Completely Untouched By The Narrative, Being Raised By Two Confused Parents Who Know

Despite her attendance being postponed, she supported Purple to sit up, placing a protective hand on Purple's head. Purple desperately covers his ears/clings and compresses his head here. Orchid then motions for Navy to suspend the training.

Now, I find this reaction from Purple a bit weird, and different. Purple would cling towards Orchid in search of comfort, but now he results to clinging/soothing towards himself.

I feel as though his mom's recent (and recurring) lack of interference, protection, presence, and comfort serves a great purpose towards this reaction.

Orchid does not interfere unless it seems as though her son is being overpowered/trampled upon. She has her priorities, but it isn't exactly the best per se, it just comes off as a bit neglectful.

As I mentioned previously, Purple's compressing here is a soothing gesture for him. You can see him repeat this action every time he is in one of his distressed meltdowns.

For comparison, the CG often resorts to this manner when in distress, but the difference between them and Purple comes into place when Purple rather hazardously hurts himself and spends a while self loathing.

Purple Being Left Completely Untouched By The Narrative, Being Raised By Two Confused Parents Who Know

Orchid and Purple got cut short upon Navy's motions towards them. Navy develops this stance to appear wider and threatening. Orchid ever so slightly stiffens, and Purple's desperate self clinging melts into a confused halt as his muscles relaxes.

Orchid and Purple experienced the same suspenseful fear, so they both react the same way. Orchid's protective hold loosens as Purple fixates his position into a bow.

Bowing is certainly a different/unusual reaction towards a potential act of domestic abuse. I read this as moreso of a plead, a way of trying to appear smaller; to shrink away from the scene. He doesn’t attempt to defend Orchid.

Orchid seemed to already have her arms slightly leveled in self defense. Navy raises an arm, and Orchid flinches and covers herself, suspecting and preparing for an unwanted pair of hands. But instead, she is met with a dismissing attire. Orchid hangs her head low.

Earlier I mentioned Orchid being observant. She was acutely aware of what was going on in the household, so she kept her avoidance. Afraid of the possibilities it can develop into with the given context that both herself and Navy are struggling to make ends meet in follow up to their role. Her absence speaks volumes on this.

But she would never interfere until she was sure it was a necessity and that her son was in danger. That is where I believe her fatal flaw becomes a bit more clearer. And this significantly affects Purple. And it shows. But that is for a whole other post.

Purple Being Left Completely Untouched By The Narrative, Being Raised By Two Confused Parents Who Know

Navy proceeds to exit the environment. Purple hazily gets up off his position and rushes to oppose his dad's decision. And for a mere beat, Navy looks back towards Purple, before turning away and continuing.

I would like to comment on Navy's language here. He appears visibly more slumped upon returning back to his motion of abandonment after being presented to his son's pleads.

Purple Being Left Completely Untouched By The Narrative, Being Raised By Two Confused Parents Who Know
Purple Being Left Completely Untouched By The Narrative, Being Raised By Two Confused Parents Who Know

Purple's interference and ability to live up to Navy's training was a huge significance in Navy himself. It's his role, it's what he was made to do. It's not that Navy didn't care, it's that he cared too much.

And when Purple was a lost cause, Navy was left disappointed. Purple's purpose was his purpose. In his eyes, he did nothing wrong. In his eyes, Orchid stepped in between their relationship and in between his designated purpose, wanting to halt it.

Until he came into the realization that perhaps his methods were out of his traits rather this his role. And this took a toll on him. He messed up, and he can't reverse it.

But Navy stopped himself before he could lay his hands on Orchid. Maybe this one time, he doesn't rely on his traits to motivate his actions, but as a role; a husband role. And left.

Purple in this sequence has yet another significant growth transition upon chasing Navy.

This could either be taken as metaphorically or literally.

You can argue that literally, this could read that the split was more of a legal process which explains Purple's odd transition growth in compliment of Navy's slow disappearance.

Metaphorically, you can argue that Purple's odd transition symbolizes time spent agonizing over his dad's abandonment. Navy's slow disappearance implying just the time spent over him.

The sequence is not very specific so run wild with whatever interpretations you have. It's not really like anything is. This sequence was much rather an explanation towards Purple's intentions and actions, not a fully fleshed out explanation towards his own homelife situation—since he believes it doesn't really add anything. (Which is true in the given context, it doesn't excuse his actions, and it wasn't the appropriate time to loathe over his abuse.)

Purple Being Left Completely Untouched By The Narrative, Being Raised By Two Confused Parents Who Know

Navy completely vanishes from the scene. Purple's position upon the absence is visibly slumped. And Orchid.. she does not look back towards Navy, really not once. And then her legs began to give out from underneath her.

Purple immediately fixated his attention towards her, dismissing any of his personal sorrow. Offering his aid and help.

Orchid doesn't provide an ounce of comfort towards Purple following Navy's abandonment. She is too detached herself.

If her illness was not enough, she's also actively grieving a split. Not just any split, but as though her other half diminished. And that's tough.

Now, the illness is unknown. But I can debate that the split (at the least) played a bit of a part. We do not have any references to how sickness exactly plays out in the avam universe besides this one example.

Orchid quickly succumbs to her illness, stumbling over herself, even with Purple's help. Her notes are visualized as shaky, grainy, and awfully saturated in reference to that weakness. Until she met her peace.

Purple laying the saturated, torn notes can possibly imply that he had to bury his mom, or took a position in aiding for her rest.

And Orchid's death greatly affected him. He stands unresponsive on Orchid's tomb. Created to be child of two and left to be a child of none. Without anyone, without a purpose.

But it doesn’t have to be this way. The only scenario that can pause and distract Purple's utter numbness from his mom's death was to cling and search for the only other present alive parent; his dad.

Purple Being Left Completely Untouched By The Narrative, Being Raised By Two Confused Parents Who Know

But Navy's love had to be earned.

And that was a scheme that Purple was willing to chase after, no matter what it took.

Don't Skip 🚨Emergency

My name is Mahmoud Al-Halaq, from Palestine - Gaza - I am 29 years old. This message is addressed to every person who carries compassion, kindness, and love in their heart. After 470 days of war on Gaza, the destruction that has occurred, the displacement we have faced, moving from one place to another, and the loss and death of loved ones and friends, I found myself alone without a home or place, and even the prices of food are astronomical. The world has changed so much that life has become gloomy and boring. Therefore, I ask for your help in rebuilding myself, my life, and my family's life anew. You are our remaining hope in life. If there were an opportunity to work, I would not waste a minute nor ask for help from anyone, but I urgently need assistance for my family, my children, and the women to rebuild what has been destroyed and crushed in this devastating and painful war. Thank you for your time and support; we draw our strength and resilience from your support. 🍉
