Keep the mayor stuff, that’s tons of fun
Different types of villages (like cities, riverside, seaside, etc.)
New ordinances and public work projects or even rules/laws you could put in place (ex. one to prevent villagers from moving into certain areas)
Take the bus/train into the city like in the older games. Spend a certain amount of bells at restaurants and stores to get them to open up in your Main Street. (Main Street will need an expansion for sure)
Public work projects to upgrade Kapp’n’s motorboat. Say you go to the island a certain number of times and he brings up upgrading his tiny boat into a pontoon, ferry, cruise ship, etc. This could allow for more friends or even villagers you invite with you to travel to your island at once. Plus, island expansions maybe?
Build up friendship/enemy relations with villagers by hitting them with nets or doing their chores. This was sort of done in acnl but make it so villagers really remember things. This could allow them to move out quicker, send you letters and give you gifts more often, etc.
Add jobs again! Get paid for working at Happy Homes, Brewster’s (keep that), or for the Nooklings.
More hairstyles, clothes, hats, shoes, furniture, fruit, tree types, flowers, tools, emotions, etc.
Turn Harvey’s camp into something a little similar to ACPC. Make a spot to garden where you can breed flowers more accurately and customize your campgrounds a little more. Certain items could attract certain character’s RVs more often.
Bring back Celeste’s observatory.
House customization should be as advanced as Happy Home designer. The moving furniture mechanics as well as adding yards and outdoor objects. And more house shapes.
Send letters and gifts to friends even while you’re in your own village.
Have Main Street and villager’s houses be decorated for holidays. Strung Christmas lights, fall/Christmas wreaths, jack-o-lanterns, colorful lights that theme to the event, etc.
Co-Op with your other villager. Play island tournaments together or just play normally and while they aren’t the mayor, it’d work just like having two villagers for New Leaf.

Spider-Man is not a party trick!
You just know that Edward had to talk Emmett out of replacing all the beds with coffins and to not wear a cloak when Bella came to visit for the first time

Do you have any advice for someone who's feeling very empty and terrified that she's never going to feel better?
The best advice I can pass on is Stephen Fry’s. Here, read this. (And good luck, and I send love.)
