You keep talking about your destinyswap au, but I have no clue what it is, can you explain it?

destinyswap is an au where , essentially, most of the elements and lore have been thrown into a pot, shaken up, and then dumped onto the counter for me to mess with .

in destinyswap, instead of garmadon being bit by the great devourer as a child and succumbing to evil, it is wu who is bit and becomes the vessel for the overlord. instead of nya being samurai x in an attempt to define her own destiny and contribute to the team in some way, she is forced to become the green ninja, and jay takes her place as the team’s non-elemental techie and engineer. instead of lloyd being the green ninja , he is the master of fire, raised up by his parents to be able to understand the potential of his skills from an incredibly young age

… the list goes on

there are a couple plot points that are twisted around due to these changes.

for example, lloyd doesn’t release the serpentine as a kid, which means harumi’s parents don’t die in the great devourer attack, and she doesn’t grow up to lead the sons of garmadon . nya is not the elemental master of water, so she does not merge with the sea. cole isnt present, so the rebooted love triangle doesn’t happen . lloyd has no reason to be aged up early.

etc etc etc

(you’ll notice i frequently mention nya and lloyd’s stuff … it’s because they’re the main characters of destinyswap :D)

eventually i will explain all of the plot, and how the characters interact with each other, and what is different vs what isn’t ……. But destinyswap is still a wip 💞 so yeah

Speaking from a completely meta perspective. Of course the ninjas are white, if it wasn’t for the fact that they were Lego characters they would’ve all been white with the exception of Wu.

But it’s because of the very ambiguous art style that Lego characters have that people have been able to create their own interpretations of how the cast of characters look. It’s honestly kinda cool to see how different people view their favourite characters. Some people interpret a character to look like themselves, others just have head cannons about how they think a character should look based on other factors. Sky is the limit with these little Lego ninja and there’s no wrong answer when deciding what they would look like.

Whether or not this new live action movie makes the entire cast white, or if they try to mix it up a bit with a more diverse cast it will always feel wrong. The true reason why a live action Ninjago movie won’t work is because it limits the way the audience can see these characters, by giving them a supposed “real” look it makes them feel less relatable with the audience.

I'm trying to watch season 8, but every time harumi and lloyd are on screen together I cringe in second-hand embarrassment. Like knowing what's gonna happen somehow makes it worse.

So I'm pausing every 11 seconds to recover and I can tell it's gonna take a week to get ep 3.

it's literally one of my favourite vines and when I saw it, I was like "Ha, that's silly" and now I'm subscribed to it and do a little happy dance every time I see it update in my emails
