taang in the comics part 4

ladies and gentlemen, the ONLY good comic: Imbalance.

everyone is so in character i LOVE IT except Aang. But in the good way. I genuinely got whiplash when reading this cuz?? is that rlly Aang?? omg hes so good. THIS is what aang stans think show-Aang is but hes rlly not. I love Aang's personality here. Confident, calm Avatar, still with a silly side, doesn't get angry irrationally, still heard Toph out when she suggested taking away his bending even tho I just KNOW show/gly Aang would've gotten angry/preachy with her.

Also this is a good example of what I mean where Kataang would be so good if they were just handled well! I LOVE them in this comic. Theyre so good and sweet together, espcially when they visited that island. She was supportive, but not in a way that made it feel like Aang was throwing a tantrum and she was shouldering it—cuz thats honestly what it felt like in the show. No. Here, it genuinely feels like one person talking about their problems and the other being supportive of them. A natural, equal relationship. Also they didn't call each other sweetie. Not even once. I love that for them. They managed to be rlly sweet together as a couple without resorting to cringe cliche moments like in GLY's.

However, while I did think Kataang was cute here, im still a Taang truther LMAO every panel with them together i went 'thats him and his wife fr'. Look how good they are together omg, I love their canonical height difference. And Toph is so pretty here, especially in her pajamas. Imbalance is what I think Aang and Toph would be canonically had they been in a relationship in the show. He doesn't get angry here, he's stable and grounded and not preachy. He hears out her opinion even when he clearly doesn't agree (as he was stunned when she suggested taking away his bending) and didn't even refuse it. He didn't say no. He just said he'd think about it. Even to Katara, he didn't outright say that he disagreed with Toph, he js asked for her counsel. But ik damn well the Aang from the show would've gotten mad and preached his monk values to her like he did with Katara in TSR. I also like the way he always cares for her throughout the comic, asking for her opinion, asking where she is—even when he didn't take on her suggestion of taking away Liling's bending, he still asked her if she was okay with it (with him doing a different plan) which I thought was rlly sweet. Just not in-character for show-Aang. No, this Aang is way better fr. I personally think this is how he would be had he been with Toph instead. His emotions are more stable, he's more confident and realized, set on his beliefs but not to the point where it'd blind him to other people's opinions—such traits align with my hc of how Toph would've affected him. Grounding and stabilizing him through her tough but understanding nature.

Unfortunate, bc Imbalance is how good Kataang could've been. But no, imo they're more like GLY. Which is why I think their marriage wasn't all that good in the future. Imbalance Kataang would never neglect Bumi and Kya. You know who would, tho? GLY Kataang.

In North and South, she literally told Malina that Malina had a change of heart bc she fell in love with Katara's Dad and that she'd revert back once she fell out of love like?? Girl?? What kind of thinking is that? Is it not possible that Malina came to her own realizations about the southerners on her OWN?? cuz yk shes a human being with her own thoughts and feelings? She's implying that Malina's—and essentially women in general, bc the way Katara phrased it didnt seem like singling out Malina specifically—beliefs are that weak and easily swayed based on whether she's in love or not. Which is crazy to me? Its obvious Malina had her own genuine realizations about the southerners that impacted her deeply—yes, maybe Hakoda inspired her, but her beliefs aren't going to magically revert if she stops being with Hakoda. It lowkey says smth about her and Aang's relationship cuz wdym? are your beliefs rlly that reliant on ur man??

Quick thing I make to show the differences between each kingdom’s fashion taste, i think.

Club is a military based Kingdom with a harsh cold environment so their clothes often lean to be more practical, layered, and coat with fur. Rather having some pin or precious gems shaped with their insignia, they prefer to have the club’s insignia embroidered to their clothes since it’s saver and not going to fall or stolen when they’re moving around.

Spade clothes prefer a straight cut and straight A silhouette. Like clubs, they prefer some practical and easy to wear clothes. That’s because they hate wasting precious time that they can have for study and experimenting instead. They’re not interested in having their clothes covered with their kingdom insignia either as they think the colour of blue is already enough to represent to which they belong. Spades are people who would cut anything unnecessary from their schedule so they can do whatever their greedy heart desires, and most of it is about studies and making new inventions.

Hearts however, not like the other three. Their fashion can be seen pretty outlandish with layers upon layers and pretty fluttery. This is because as their Kingdom really loves festivals and parties, those kinds of clothes really look great for dancing at the event. The fuller their clothes look, usually it signifies they’re well off as making these types of clothes can be expensive from how much fabric they need. Thus often, Heart buys fabric from other Kingdom, one of them is Diamond who loves their sheer fabric. Though these kinds of fabric for hearts are used for just the bottom layers of their skirt that in a way for Diamonds who really think highly of their own bodies and love to show their skins, found it quite a waste and ridiculous. Hearts and Diamonds often fight for which kingdom has the better sense of fashion in which Spade and Club have no intention to join in.

AND A SIDE STORY THAT CENTERS AROUND FRUK.

Whilst Amelia and Anya are having their adventure, Amelia's sister Alice meets Marianne. Alice is a witch. She found out Amelia ran away so she followed her sister to bring her back (knowing how reckless she can be Alice almost fainted from worry). She finds Marianne, an exile of their kingdom. Alice recognized her and threatened to hex her and drag her to jail, but Marianne insisted that she had seen Amelia and knew where to find her. So she and Alice set off to find her. They fall for each other along the way and Alice and Amelia reunite in the midst of war. Alice tries to get Amelia to come back but the latter doesn't want to go and tells her sister about everything thats happened and why she had left in the first place. Begrudgingly, Alice stays in the palace with Marianne. Alice is also very wary of the knight that followed her sister around. Anya doesn't like Alice at all, and Alice doesn't like her either.

Fantasy AU

Imagine Amelia as a rebellious healer princess and Anya as a knight of a rival kingdom. Amelia’s family is corrupt and she knows it, so with a strong sense of justice she runs away to stop the war and defeat her kingdom. She gets lost in a forest and almost gets killed by bandits when Anya, a knight who deserted the army and is on the run from the law, rescues her. Anya has no desire to join the war and refuses Amelia when the latter asks Anya to come with her and help. Amelia knows Anya is on the run (she recognizes her from the wanted posters) and said she’d expose Anya’s whereabouts, so the latter had no choice but to go. The forest is dangerous full of dangerous magical creatures and bad people. Anya protected Amelia battle after battle, and afterwards Amelia heals her. Anya pines hard for the princess but keeps her feelings to herself. Once the war was over and they won Anya finally confesses and Amelia FEELS THE SAME WAY and the monarchs of the rival kingdom gave their positions to Amelia and Anya after retiring so now Anya is a badass queen who protects her healer queen wife Amelia thank you for coming to my ted talk

So hey, I got bored and turned a desk scribble into a Cardverse map. I have no idea what I’m doing, but I’ve made some theories about the different kingdoms off this map. Spades(Blue)- With the spades being the largest Kingdom land wise, they have a wide ranging culture and resources. While they are the most powerful kingdom, they are forced to work with their neighboring kingdoms in order to thrive.

Cloves(Green)- Cloves, being almost completely made up of islands, are heavily based around trading, boating, and seafood. The islands in the north and the mainland of the Cloves are great trading ports and are places meant for cultural fusion. Because both the Spades and the Hearts reply on them for trade, the Clove Kingdom is a peace keeper between the 2 kingdoms.

Hearts(Red)- With their large landmass, the northern part of the kingdom is almost completely different from the southern part of the kingdom. Because of this, the south is a place for great arts and food, and influence from their Diamond neighbors and their Clubian friends across the pond, while the north is known for their architects and fruits.

Diamonds(Yellow)- Unlike their Heart neighbors, a lot of the Diamond culture is condensed into their small landmass. This includes good food, wine, weapons, and book making. The shared border of the Hearts and the Diamonds have caused many issues in the past, but after the incident of the Tangerine Islands, they have calmed down.

Tangerine Islands(Orange)-A territory that was commonly fought over because it was one of the best trade ports between the diamonds and hearts. Both kingdoms have tried to take it, but after many years of infighting, a former member of the high heart court declared it as independent and told both kingdoms to calm down before they close off ports completely.

???(Birb)- A very weird island with many cats. There are people living there, but they don’t classify as any part of any kingdom

Hetalia Favorite Flowers (the reasons are just headcanons of mine, not actually true)

Ludwig: Marigolds. Kiku once found him picking marigolds and looking like he was in heaven. Kiku: Sakura. Do I even need to explain this?

Feliciano: Gardenias. I think he would just find them very pretty.

Lovino: Dahlias. He and Feliciano used to plant dahlias together all the time until they were separated.

Gilbert: Lilies. Fritz loved lilies, specifically the white ones, and Gilbert would always see his beloved boss tread through gardens of those flowers. 

Roderich: Edelweiss. Explaining is not needed, this is self-explanatory.

Elizabeta: Begonias. The first gift she ever recieved that was woman-like. She got them from Roderich, and she still keeps them in her hair to this day.

Ivan: Sunflowers. They were his big sister's favorite flowers.

. Alfred: Daisies. His human best friend's favorite flower were daisies.

Arthur: Bluebells. He was in a forest filled with bluebells when he first met Francis, and those woods remain as their 'spot' to this day.

Francis: Roses. Do I really?

Yao: Peonies. Leon, Kiku, Mei and Yung Soo all used to surprise him with peonies when they were kids, and he grew to really love them because they remind him of them.

Matthew: Baby's Breath. He used to make flower crowns for him and Alfred before when they were children.
