If Too Many People Assume Clinton Has The Election Locked Down, And Use That Assumption As Their Basis

If too many people assume Clinton has the election locked down, and use that assumption as their basis for not voting for her, she could lose. But even if the assumption is right—even if you’re a young progressive from California who believes with excellent reason that your vote won’t possibly be decisive—the Tribune’s line of thinking comes at a hefty price. This year the “lesser of two evils” rationale isn’t just an uninspiring appeal to risk aversion. It’s about making a positive and important statement to the world that in America, a racist authoritarian can not get within a hair’s breadth of the presidency—and that, if one happens to become a major party nominee, he will be defeated soundly.

Fucking PSA

Unfriendly reminder that having an anxiety disorder isn’t cute or quirky

Unfriendly reminder that chronic and severe depressive disorders aren’t something to be glorified or glamorized

Unfriendly reminder that eating disorders are legitimate problems for millions of people and have taken so many lives, and it’s not some cute fucking fad

Unfriendly reminder that it isn’t okay to romanticize depression, anxiety and eating disorders but still continue to stigmatize and stereotype Schizophrenia, Bipolar, Borderline Personality Disorder, etc

Unfriendly fucking reminder that mental illnesses aren’t for your aesthetics or to be thought of as some cutesy quirk or quality, they’re legitimate problems that people struggle with every single day and are to be taken much more seriously than they are

I was going to be like “an AU where all Leia writes all her official dispatched he exact same way that Carrie Fisher tweets,” except I think we all know in our heart of hearts that this is in fact canon, and the first thing you learn in the Resistance is a basic fluency in emoji

One time the First Order manages to intercept a few official communiques and they’re all like “wtf is this code” while Kylo Ren is standing to the side just dying inside because MOM GOD THIS IS SO EMBARRASSING

This has become really important in my life lately. I've basically combined bullet journaling, doodling, washi tape, and calligraphy into an art therapy book. The beauty of the book itself, knowing that even my art isn't perfect, and the catharsis I get is all priceless. I may dissociate while doing it, but it's helped keep my mind calm, while also reminding me about appointments, and to take my medications. I highly recommend art therapy.

‘Incomprehensible’ Birth Of Supercrystal Explained

‘Incomprehensible’ birth of supercrystal explained

Two years ago, a research team led by Utrecht University published an article in Science explaining how they had created a material with unique and extremely interesting electronic characteristics. In this 'supercrystal’, the electrons move almost with the speed of photons, and the electric current can be switched on and off. This makes it ideal for ultra-fast electronics. But at the time, the researchers were at a loss to explain how this 'supercrystal’ obtained its unique structure. Now they have unravelled the mystery, and it appears to involve a completely different mechanism for crystal formation. This is an important insight for research into new materials with unique electronic characteristics. The results of their research were published online in Nature Materials.

The 'supercrystal’ develops when tiny nanocrystals form a perfectly ordered surface one layer thick. In this super-matrix, the structure of the atoms – A, B, A, B – precisely follows that of the nanocrystals itself. “But how such a neatly ordered super-matrix could be born from all of those nanocrystals was incomprehensible to us,” says Prof. Daniël Vanmaekelbergh from Utrecht University. “Now that we have insight into how the matrix is formed, we can conduct much more focused research into how we can make the structures that we would like to have.”

Chronic illness is so different from “regular illness.” No one is running medicine and soup over to your house when you say you don’t feel good. No one is running you to the hospital when you’re crumpled up in pain. Doctors don’t run around you ordering immediate tests and skipping lunch to go over your results. You’re not excused from anything. You’re just expected to go about your life with way less spoons than everyone else has. If you’re in pain, you hide it, because it’s not a rare occurrence. If you need a doctor’s appointment, well the next one’s in five weeks at a time/day that you need to cancel all your plans for. And if you can’t make that one, well the next ones in 3 months. Need some tests done? We’ll order one at a time, and they’ll take a few weeks to have a spot open for you. Then a few more weeks to get the results. Medicine?! You don’t need medicine. You get through school/work just fine. Not like we’d know what to prescribe you anyway. And not like it’d actually help. Have you tried some Advil? Tums? You’ve had this for how many years? You must be used to it. We need to focus on the people coming in with NEW pains. Pains we may actually have a diagnosis for, and not just a coverall name.

for 2017 and onward i’m gonna exist and thrive as a mentally ill person and tell anyone who doesnt like it to go fuck themselves because that’s what Carrie did, and she would want us to do the same.

So Last Night, I Came Home About 10:30 Just To Find This Abandoned, Unlocked, Empty Post Truck Just Parked

so last night, I came home about 10:30 just to find this abandoned, unlocked, empty post truck just parked on the side of the road near my house, next to the mouth of the woods. It was super odd because post trucks do not run at night, neither do they just suddenly appear unlocked. Now that’s some @sixpenceee shit

shoutout to people who cant/wont turn in their abusers because

they dont have proof of abuse

abusers were upstanding members of society

their abuse was legal

no one believes them

their abusers are old, dead, disabled, ill, or on their deathbed

their abusers are family members

they cant remember details of abuse

they didnt uncover abuse until later in life

they were abused by organizations

they dont know the names of thier abusers

theyve been threatened into staying quiet

they arent mentally stable enough to endure the investigation

and whatever other reason. people dont have to turn in their abusers for their abuse to be legitimate. so many of us cant prove what happened to us and are only left with the disorders that came with the horror we dealt with growing up.

it makes me sad that im seeing so many trauma survivors feel that they have to justify not taking abusers to court. some of us cant, some of us shouldnt, and some of us wont. please respect all survivors regardless of how they approach legal justice over abuse.
