i really like the term harebrained-- ik it's an insult, but as a hare therian, the fact that it's a preexisting word makes me happy :>

idea!!

ALTERHUMAN SLANG. dont tell me you haven’t at least thought about it. Most if these are carnivorous mammal specific, but i will try to throw in some other kinds as well!!

Got on my back paws - got on my hands and knees. Like how animals can stand up as a trick.

ex: yeah, i really wanted that necklace, i had to get on my back legs so she would get it for me.

Showing fang - standing up for yourself/being assertive. ex: he’s really tough, but he’ll show fang at just about anything.

White eye - going crazy/really scared. Like how animals show the whites of their eyes when very agitated.

ex: haha, i saw how scared you were during that movie, you went all white eye at the end!

Riptide Rider - (aquatic) someone who lives dangerously.

ex: stay away from her, she’s a riptide rider, you’re bound to get hurt.

Treetop chaser - (herbivorous) someone who chases unattainable things.

ex: they’re way out of your league, don’t be a treetop chaser.

Cloudy day - (reptilian) usually used as a question, if someone is acting tired or unusual. Like how reptiles need the sun to stay warm, if it’s cloudy, they can’t warm up.

ex: woah, cloudy day? You look like you haven’t slept in months.

Flock brain - (avian) someone who can’t think for themselves. ex: ugh, she’s only hanging out with them now, she’s being a total flock brain.

A hummer with an eagle - (avian) someone who is clearly out of their depth.

ex: are you sure you can handle advanced classes? No offense, but you’ll be a hummer with the eagles.

okay i’ve had too much fun with this, please please PLEASE add on in the comments!!

”SPECIES TRANSITION”

(full thread below)

artwork in the format of a front page of a leaflet/brochure titled “SPECIES TRANSITION” with smaller text below reading “YOUR GUIDE TO LEAVING HUMANITY”.

below is a square containing a drawn-over image of a fox with small text below that reads “Pictured: former human. 4 year transition”

below is a list of subject titles “•WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN TO YOUR BODY
•MAINTAINING YOUR SOCIAL LIFE WHILE CHANGING
•SETTLING INTO YOUR NEW LIFE
•SURVIVAL IN THE WILD
•LEGAL SPECIES
•ACCESSIBILITY”

there is a solid light-brown background of a tree line on the bottom part of the page alongside a random 3-pointed shape.

the very bottom left of the page reads “NEED HELP? CALL US: 555-0184”
Page 2 of a “SPECIES TRANSITION” leaflet, this page titled “WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN TO YOUR BODY? (P2)”

“Changes and their frequency will vary from creature to creature, and are subject to show themselves differently based on multiple factors, including but not limited to: Dosage, Desired species, Diet, Physical activity, etc.

Below is a (compressed) timeline, highlighting most of the notable points within an average transition.”

Next to said text is a solid brown image of a man walking (from a traffic light signal).

Below is a timeline for 3 years.

-REFERRAL
-MONTH 3- FANGS BECOME VISIBLE, NOTICEABLE BODY HAIR GROWTH
-MONTH 6- STRONG INCREASE IN ANIMALISTIC BEHAVIOUR/INSTINCTS
-1 YEAR- EMERGENCE OF TAIL, FACE ELONGATES INTO SNOUT
-1.5 YEARS- “PERSON” WILL BE DISTINCTLY IDENTIFIED AS DESIRED SPECIES BY THIS POINT
-1.8 YEARS- HUMAN HAIR FULLY REPLACED BY FUR, PATTERN BECOMES VISIBLE

-2 YEARS- (Past this point, the background is yellow, symbolising danger/urgency). ‘PERSON’ WILL RESEMBLE AN ANTHROPOMORPHIC VERSION OF THEIR DESIRED SPECIES. MANY CHOOSE NOT TO TRANSITION BEYOND THIS POINT.
-2.3 YEARS- SIGNIFICANT SHIFTING OF BODY STRUCTURE, LOSS OF COORDINATION
-2.5 YEARS- DESTRUCTION OF HUMAN VOCAL CORDS
-2.7 YEARS- QUADRUPED
-2.10 YEARS- LOSS OF SAPIENCE
-3 YEARS- ‘DEATH’ OF HUMAN SELF
-AVERAGE TIME FOR CHANGE COMPLETION (3 YEARS)

(Below is a small notice that reads (CHANGING PAST THIS POINT CAN OFTEN BE DANGEROUS))

“It should be noted that the body requires significant energy to process these changes, so a large diet and a frequent intake of water is heavily recommended.

If you feel that your changes are infrequent/delayed, please get in contact with us.”

At the bottom of the page, there is a solid brown background of a tree line, alongside a random 2-pointed symbol/shape.
Page 3 of a “leaflet” titled “SPECIES TRANSITION” (self-explanatory.)

Text:

“The process of transitioning species can often be a turbulent point in one's life, and navigating human relationships white transforming is difficult.
If you wish to, you should explain the process to your friends and loved ones and let them know that you're still fit to go out and live your life alongside them for now.
it is best recommended to seek out creatures similar to yourself through all of this. There are countless groups and spaces (online, and face-to-face) made up of others taking this path.
Socialising with other creatures is, in fact, proven to heip and further affirm one's self while transitioning into another species.

WE RECOMMEND:

* Breaking the news to your humans when you're ready - letting them know that YOU are still YOU, more than ever, even, and for the time being you are still a functional 'person' like them.
* Having friends and loved ones assist with your transition (socially, etc) - respectfully treating you like the animal you are
* Arranging groups of your species, 'packs' or the like - non-human relationships that will remain far after the last of your humanity is gone
* If/when necessary and applicable, cover up your changes in public with certain apparel (such as hats, scarves, large hoodies/coats, and so on.
* Document and discuss your experiences with other creatures and humans, until your animal body makes you incapable of such.

IMPORTANT:
(Due to the rising stigma around non-human-animal individuals (and the false notion that this procedure is
"contagious" or makes an individual dangerous) it is advised to be moderately wary around humans you may not trust.)”

On the right side of the page is a drawn-over image of a fox drinking from a fast food cup, being fed by a human. the text below reads “Pictured: Fromer human being fed by human.”

There is a solid brown background of a tree line and a random three-pointed shape on top of the page.
Page 4 of a “SPECIES TRANSITION” leaflet/guide. This page is titled “SETTLING INTO YOUR NEW LIFE”

“Adapting to a new lifestyle (or a new life completely) is a key part of the transition from human into another species. There are many ways to help smoothen out this process, most involving preparation prior to being fully changed.“

Below is a drawn over image of a coyote, with text next to it reading “(This coyote lives in wildlife, but still has been able to receive medical attention and even occasional small visits from its human companions.)“ Beside said text is a random 4-pointed shape symbol.
Below the image reads “Pictured: Former human, now fully coyote. 5 years since beginning transition”

Below:

“Many former-humans choose to stick around their family and/or friends as a 'pet', and some will instead choose to leave for the wild. If you wish to start a new life away from humans, you may want to:
• Get yourself chipped (if you'd like), so humans close to you can have an idea of your whereabouts after you've left
• Locate an area to reside/create a den or "home" in before being released. We have a service available that can assist in locating a suitable habitat for you
• Ideally, find a "mate" transitioning into the same species as you, and enter the wild alongside each other”

(Divide)

“If you wish to be kept as a 'pet' of some kind, your
'owner' will be required to legally register you as theirs in order to abide with laws regarding keeping animals.”

There is a solid brown and white mountain pattern in the background on the bottom part of the page.
Page 5 of a ‘leaflet’(?) (not really a leaflet at this point) titled “SPECIES TRANSITION”. this page is titled “SURVIVAL IN THE WILD”.

“(i) This section is not relevant for:
1. Those who wish to be kept by friends/family
2. Those who do not wish to go all the way”

“It should be known that life in the wild is significantly more dangerous than human society, and you risk full certainty of facing countless, potentially lethal, threats there. We can not guarantee any safety (though we can still help, to the degree that we are capable.)
Your own instincts should typically be enough to guide you, though it is best recommended to familiarise yourself with techniques for survival (alongside any advice regarding life in the wild in general).
There is a large abundance of resources available that provide guidance for living as wildlife. effectively
Making an effort to retain useful information will greatly increase your capability of recalling it once you are fully changed.“

Below is a drawn-over image of a coyote playing with a stick.

“Pictured: Coyote, former human, playing with a stick.”

There is a solid brown/white mountain background on the bottom half of the page, and a random 5-pointed shape near the top of the page.
page 6 of a “SPECIES TRANSITION” information leaflet, this page titled “LEGAL SPECIES”.

Below the title is a drawn over image of a blank passport, with the only detail filled in being “SPECIES” “-FOX”. There is a random 6-pointed symbol next to it, and below the passport image is text that reads “Pictured: A blank passport with 'SPECIES: FOX' listed. Please note that not all forms of identification yet include species.”

Below is the content of the page.

“If you would like to legally change your
documentation to match your desired/new species, you may file to have your legal species changed.
It is best recommended to apply for a legal species change after approximately 1 year into your transition, once the tail is visible. Applying earlier may lead to a lower chance of your request being accepted.
Typically, a health professional will be required to check that you have undergone sufficient changes to warrant being physically considered as 'another species'.
Check with your local government as to what the laws regarding legal species are in your area.
It should be noted that being prescribed ‘Animal HRT’
(treatment known officially by several different names) for longer than 2.7 years will have you flagged and classed as an animal from that point on
(A DIFFERENT DENOMINATION TO 'NON-HUMAN PERSON').
In most cases, this will begin the process of having your documentation and records erased, or destroyed.”

There is a solid brown tree line background on the bottom half of the page.
Page 7 of a “SPECIES TRANSITION” guide/leaflet. This page is titled “ACCESSIBILITY”

“(i) If you want to know more about this, please contact our number or mention this subject during your next scheduled appointment.”

There is a random 7-pointed shape next to this text.

Below:
“Recently, there has been significant research effort based around facilitating the inconveniences caused by overlapping humanity and animality.
While 'accessibility' for former-humans is primarily intended for those undergoing the final stages of species transition, creatures much earlier into their changes can also find 'assistance' of a similar type available in several forms.”

“(Notably 'animal-accessible clothing' which
accommodates a less human body shape and has became increasingly popular as of late)”

“Lack of dexterity is a common 'issue' in most cases, materialising not long after the 2 year mark. Loss of human vocal cords typically comes soon after, meaning this stage of transition renders sapient former-humans practically unable to communicate with humans or make use of most technology.”

Below is a drawn over image of a fox on a desk, next to a keyboard. the text below reads “Pictured: Former-human, fox, stood next to a computer. Most tools are ineffective once they reach this stage of transition.”

Below:

“Advancements in animal-accessible equipment have discovered several methods of getting around these obstructions and bridging the gap between humans and former-humans. (albeit much less effectively after the transition into another species is fully complete).“

There is a solid brown-white mountain background on the bottom half of the page.
Page 8 of a “SPECIES TRANSITION” guide/leaflet. This is the back/outro page and has no title.

There is a drawn over image of a coyote with city lights behind it. Text above reads “Pictured: Fully transitioned coyote leaving human city life for good. Image taken 11/20/23

Below:

“We hope you now have a clearer understanding of the process you are currently undergoing, as well as your near future.
Good luck on your journey to leaving humanity. If you have any other inquires or specific concerns regarding Animal HRT', please contact our number or ask during your next scheduled appointment.
Do feel free to share this guide with humans curious to understand the process of species transition.”

There is a brown ‘gradient’ mountain and forest background on the back of the page, and a random 3-pointed shape in the middle-right of the page.

Further below:

“NOTICE
As this procedure is still a very recent breakthrough, data presented is based on limited research.
We cannot predict, and are not at fault for premature side effects and the like. (early fur growth, loss of dexterity and/or sapience, and so on.)”
