Chat, what did we think was going on in Gihun’s head in s2e1 when he got back to his hotel and found the recruiter/the salesman waiting for him?
As soon as he comes in and sees him looking at the calendar, his expression is tense and scared. A second later it relaxes and he goes about his business, toweling himself off from the rain like he isn’t at all concerned about the gun in the other’s mind.
Did he expect the Frontman to have stepped out of his nightmares? Does he see the recruiter/the salesman drinking his lil yogurt with a straw and decide he isn’t a threat?
I think something else is happening; something I think about a lot with Gihun. I think he thinks the recruiter/the salesman cannot kill him.
I think one of the manifestations of his trauma, one of the adaptive delusions he’s embraced to keep himself afloat through all the grief and guilt and misery, is that the games can’t kill him. Not until he’s done with them.
I think he thinks he’s destined to end the games and ignores any fear or common sense of his own mortality.
Because if he cannot end the games, it means the hundreds of deaths, including those of Saebyeok and Sangwoo, are meaningless.
I think he physically cannot accept that nor his own powerlessness, and that he’s been driven to a point where fear of death cannot reach him past his dedication to his mission.
I think we see this delusion really calcify in the scene where he plays roulette with the recruiter/the salesman, and I love that that’s how the season presents Gihun’s current mindset.
i wanna take pictures of my outfit bc it’s cute but i’m so lazyyy

so, when they're all sitting together and sharing their names in the fourth episode, ali reveals that he's been under the assumption that gi-hun's name is ssangmun-dong.
which means that whenever gi-hun started praising sang-woo by calling him the pride of ssangmun-dong, he thought... oh, i need to sit down for this...
Takes place in the same universe as this: (x)
Gihun is the one who suggests they get a pet.
Sangwoo refuses at first but he is immediately outvoted by Gayeong, Cheol...and his own mother!
When they go to the shelter, there is one dog who nips and pulls at the hem of Gihun's shirt. Gihun turns around and sees that it is a puppy with one leg missing.
"She chose us, Sangwoo!"
They adopt the puppy and named her "Lucky."
Lucky is immediately greeted with pets and kisses the moment they get back home.
Sangwoo initially acts indifferent toward Lucky, claiming he only agreed to adopt her to make everyone happy and he "isn't much of a pet person,” but the family catches him sneaking treats to her within the first day.
Lucky becomes particularly attached to Sangwoo’s mother and the puppy ends up following her around the house and curling up at her feet whenever she sits down.
Gihun, being the softie he is, lets Lucky sleep in his and Sangwoo's bed on the first night, much to Sangwoo’s dismay, except when he wakes up, Lucky is curled up against Sangwoo instead.
All of the beds in the penthouse have ramps attached to them so Lucky can easily get on their beds for cuddles.
Much like the kids and Sangwoo's mom, Lucky is incredibly spoiled. Both Sangwoo and Gihun buy her an absurd amount of things, including gourmet dog treats, an orthopedic bed, a custom-fitted harness for better support, a toy box overflowing with plushies, and even a personalized name tag that has her name on it.
Lucky goes to obedience school and every time the trainer mentions how good she does, they always take her out for a treat.
They make sure she gets all her shots and she is groomed whenever it's needed.
Whenever Sangwoo and Gihun need to concentrate on work, with Sangwoo on reviewing contracts for their real estate firm and Gihun on developing new recipes for their restaurant chain, Gayeong and Cheol are always happy to keep Lucky entertained.
Lucky becomes very protective of their family, especially Cheol and Gayeong, barking at anyone who gets too close to them at the park.
Sangwoo and Gihun have become that couple who put their dog in a stroller.
Lucky has an uncanny ability to sense when Sangwoo or Gihun are stressed, always nudging her head under their hands to force them to pet her.
One day, while strolling through the park with their furbaby, Sangwoo and Gihun catch the scent of dalgona. Gihun freezes as anxiety rushes over him, but Sangwoo’s touch and Lucky’s warmth help him steady himself, allowing them to continue their walk home.
Whenever it's raining and Sangwoo's too consumed by the negative feelings to even leave the bedroom, Gihun is there by his side and Lucky is curled up on Sangwoo's chest.
The family isn’t religious, but they still celebrate Christmas. So on their first Christmas with Lucky, one of the presents has her name on it too.
Gihun loves talking to Lucky as if she understands everything. He often narrate his day to her while cooking, and Sangwoo finds it incredibly adorable.
She has a habit of bringing her toys to Sangwoo’s mom who is always happy to play along.
Gayeong and Cheol always match Lucky's energy and the three are always playing together.
When one family member goes out, Lucky waits by the door until they return, wagging her tail so hard that her whole body wiggles.
Despite Lucky’s missing leg, she is the fastest thing in the house.
On their anniversary, Gihun surprises Sangwoo with a framed photo of their whole family: him, Sangwoo, the kids, Sangwoo's mom… and Lucky, front and center.
