don’t get me wrong, i’m 100% sure orion defended his wife with claws and teeth, specially when it was sirius the one fighting her.

i imagine sirius rebellious strike reminded walburga too much of herself so she was definitely worried how he would turn up. and because of that they bickered often. and while sirius also picked up fights with his dad, orion didn’t react as badly unless he felt sirius had gone too far with walburga.

he might not thought it as: that’s my wife you’re disrespecting, boy, but more importantly that’s YOUR MOTHER.

orion understood the sacrifices walburga made for the sake of her family and while he accepted with dignity the fact that she might never love him, he did protect her (not that she really needed it).

that’s the reason walburga don’t mind that much, cause he’s present in all the ways she needs him to be.

and that’s why when and if ever he is unfaithful, he goes out of his way to pick a witch outside their circles. but with druella is personal, it’s has to do more with himself than with her wife.

just in general i think that however wrong and misguided their actions might be, pure blood families, especially old ones like the blacks and malfoys, valued their families above anything else.

there’s a reason they got to be MOST ANCIENT but also, there’s a reason the family finally crumbled.

(we all know if sirius had survived he either wouldn’t have had kids or would’ve done MUCH MUCH MUCH differently).

i think walburga wouldn’t care for orion being unfaithful as long as 1) he was discreet about it and 2) he didn’t get involve with anyone near her circle. after all, their marriage isn’t rooted in love.

problem is, orion and cygnuss have been feuding ever since they were kids (orion is closer to him in age than walburga) and finally he decided to start an affair with druella, who happens to be not only is his cousin’s wife but also the one woman walburga despises the most (she never wanted for her to marry his brother).

meanwhile alphard knows all this is happening and stays as far away as possible from all the drama, cause even if he tells his sister, she would find a way to blame him somehow, shot the messenger and all that.

durmstrang!sirius and slytherin!marlene | dark!blackinnon au

walburga senses, as most mothers often do, that hogwarts may not be the right place for sirius after all, so before his letter arrives at 11, she ensures his place at durmstrang is secured. he is a black, so that’s easy enough. and while sirius is our fully rebellious teenager that we know and love and doesn’t exactly fit within the black family standards, he can’t quite deny that he’s having a bit of fun learning a few new tricks in his heavily dark arts oriented school.

on the other side, we have a completely surprised marlene after being sorted into slytherin. and yet she can’t quite complain. the views from under the lake are stunning and there’s a lot of comfort surrounding her in her new house. and she can’t exactly claim she doesn’t fit in either because after all, not only his father is head of a department in the ministry, but the mckinnons are a well respected pureblood family even if they’re not considered rich enough to commune with the highest wizarding families.

both sirius and marlene are surrounded by people talking day and night about the dark lord and his promises to build a new world and how he will reward his most loyal followers. neither are particularly interested in it and, at this point, they’re both safe enough for them and their families to not being at risk.

also yes, they’re both know each other, seeing as marlene is the daughter of an important figure in the ministry and the black’s business often times coincides within the realm of the ministry, they were the type of kids who tag along their parents from time to time and they were left to socialize. they got along well enough, to the point marlene had been disappointed when certain heir didn’t joined her in hogwarts.

now let’s cut to after graduation shall we?

sirius ends up joining the death eaters because he feels someone has to look after his idiot brother before he manages to get himself killed.

marlene doesn’t join the order given her acquaintances in hogwarts, thinking she might not be able to keep it a secret and believes her family is safe as long they don’t say anything against the new world order that is expected to take over.

except his father ends up using his position in the ministry to his advantage thinking he might have a chance to impact change for good and death eathers find his involvement with the order. they not only set out to kill him, but as a precaution they kill all of his family with the exception of marlene.

marlene has two choices: either join the order and help them win the war or set out to plot revenge for her family on her own. she chooses the latter.

now, in this au regulus tells his findings about the dark lord to sirius and doesn’t die in that cave. but that doesn’t mean he’s saved.

sirius now holds the power to take down voldemort once and for all and because he heard what happened to the mckinnons, set to reach out to marlene playing a bit of double agent himself.

trouble is marlene has found the death eaters headquarters and manages to bring the whole building to the ground all on her own.

now, any guesses who’s little brother was inside that building at the time of the explosion?

that’s right: regulus black.

what’s sirius to do now? especially since marlene is showing no remorse for her actions, claiming it was regulus choice to join the death eaters in the first place, knowing damn well the risks.

i rlly rlly want to finish “strangers” but why is it when you have the idea in your head the harder it feels to just sit down and type it out.

i agree with kids not fitting with them, if they are not together i can see them being wonderful step-parents, although the option of a miscarriage as to reinforce (more on the reader than in them)/confronts them with the notion that it’s enough with the two of them, like yes, there are families that actually aspire to be that small!! they have other dreams!! plus marlene has her own family and sirius has the potters, they are happy and content as they are and little kids would love to hear from them! imagine blackinnon telling little harry what adventures they get up to, little harry would probably want to grow up to be like them 😂

for the love of me, i cannot imagine marlene and sirius with kids. it fits neither of them imo. they're good with kids, it's not like they don't like them. i just think they wouldn't want one. but in some of my aus, either modern au, warless au, or both live in the canon world, i can see them adopting this specif girl (i will insert pic) and i have so many variants and stories on how they meet her. and she's so fun, sassy, full of love, and their parenting method (?) is treating her like an adult. not with the responsibility, more like treating her as an equal? she calls marlene "lena" or "mum" and she is calls sirius "prongs" or "dad"

i feel like the first time i went diving into ao3 i couldn’t find, for the love of me, any blackinnon story that resonated with me.

and swear i don’t know what happened but suddenly i have like a ton of tabs open on my browser of stories about those two i want to delve into (i guess i wasn’t looking that hard after all).

the thing is i’m scared to start reading because i don’t want to feel like i might copy someone but worse than that, im scare to find something so good inside that might make me go: yep, never gonna be able to write that good. might just give up now.
