A friend of mine recommended that I practice backgrounds and I decided to try it out with a doodle from the last player 2 au post.
Not used to it at alllll. Still though, I think it came out alright.
An idea for the Mutant Mashup Au made my @possumsarenice and I.
Niccolo and Purple actually used to be close as kids. They naturally had lots of similarities and spent most of their time together building things. Whether it was a joint project or helping each other build inventions as each other's lab assistant, both purple turtles enjoyed each other's company a lot in those moments.
However, the more advanced their tech got, the farther away they would drift. Purple eventually started thinking that Niccolo was trying to outshine him, meanwhile Niccolo just wanted to build things just as amazing as his cousin. It's because of this insecurity that led Purple to bond more with Sanzio.
It's important to note that Niccolo never wanted to outshine his cousin and only wanted to be seen as an equal to him. He misses Purple and the things they used to build together, misses having someone that could understand him in a way the rest of his family just can't. Sometimes, Niccolo wishes he wasn't that smart and could be more laid back like Simoni or Blue.
This all comes to light when the purple turtles are captured by Big Mama and the 2012 Purple Dragons. Both boys are locked in a room and are forced to work together to get out before time runs out but things are not going well. Purple is trying to do everything himself and refusing help, but Niccolo wants to help him so both can escape. It takes a good while of arguing but Purple spills the beans about what he thinks about his cousin, how he thinks Niccolo is trying to replace him. Niccolo is speechless for a second before admitting how much he wanted someone, anyone, to stick around whenever he wanted to build machines. He felt like Purple abandoned him for bigger and better things, leaving Niccolo behind.
The two eventually clear it all up and start to reconnect by doing more joint projects like old times. Both still work on separate projects, but they have fun when they work together like they used to.
Alternate idea is that they still drift away from each other but neither notice until it's pointed out. I'll put more thought into that later but yeah.
Honestly, even if your Caine feels regret over your Able's condition, my version of Caine still wouldn't like him. He can't quite understand emotions like Abel can, so my Caine doesn't trust your Caine very much.
The Amazing Digital Circus finally got to me....
With that said, allow me to introduce you to the circus's very own...
Animal Tamer!!
Abel!
Aka, my own personal take on the speculation surrounding C&A.
There's biblical imagery in TADC if you look for it, especially when it comes to our beloved Ringmaster himself, Caine, who's believed to be named after the first murderer in the bible. That paired with the C&A logo that briefly shows up has led people to believe that Caine had a brother named Abel.
This is just what I think Abel would look like if he does show up in the future or at all. I imagine Abel's an AI, like Caine, but is surprisingly emotionally intelligent and ran the program that allowed humans to leave the circus. (Slight reference to @fannele's version of Able) If we follow the pilot, then something happened to him, but since Caine was described to be a silly guy by @gooseworx themselves, I don't think he had anything to do with it. (If he did it might've been an accident.) The programmers might have potentially removed Abel or accidentally deleted him for some reason, we can't know for sure.
Those are just my thoughts on Abel and whether it's right or wrong, I don't really care. I just like how this guy came out! I'll be honest though, I probably should've chosen a better pose that convey's Abel's personality a bit more. That and he just generally looks like Caine but with a different outfit and a different head. He low-key looks like if Caine wanted a to wear a very slight Sonic themed outfit.
Idk, I guess I just subconsciously wanted Caine and Abel to be twins. (Darn it ninja turtles you have invaded my brain even now!!).
Anyways. That's just my take, hope you like!
I think that along with ballet, Simoni knows how to break dance and incorporates that into his fighting style. Unlike Orange (and possibly canon Rise Mikey) who uses razzmatazz as a way to prove that he doesn't need to be babied, Simoni just does this because he gets too bored and likes to spice up his attacks. Makes him unpredictable y'know?
Now that I think about it, Blue would probably be more proficient in fighting right? Since he's in a family full of incredibly talented people, Blue feels incredibly insecure and downplays achievements even when they were well earned. In this Au, he would probably train a lot more to "compensate" for his "lackluster" abilities. Similar to canon Rise Leo, he's a great strategist and can smooth talk his way out of most problems but Blue doesn't value this skill a whole lot.
Because of this extra training, Blue probably rivals DaVinci in combat proficiency. Vinnie isn't a slouch either and despite the more calm and maybe even playful demeanor in this Au, DaVinci is just as committed to training as his canon counterpart.
Happy Anniversary FNAF
Thanks Scott!!
Here are those doodles I promised, just more interactions between cousins as well as two doodles with April and May.
Doodle of a Fireflower from Mario to help me get into the habit of drawing at least something once a day
I can't think of anything for my version of Able beyond just him having a gentler voice that's not as extravagant as Caine's. Maybe Caleb Hyles?

Some old doodles from last year's sketchbook! I thought it'd be funny if Niccolo was the epitome of a buff nerd in the Au and genuinely didn't realize his own strength until this moment.
Red is excited at the possibility of a new sparring buddy and Zio just lost a 20 dollar bet.
He would've said something much more vile but Big Red was in the room soooooo-
So I've seen like two posts about FNAF: Security Breach...but as a movie. Like those end credits in the Toy Story movie. Ngl that made me laugh so hard so i want to add some:
- Gregory called Vanny Vanessa
"You didn't see Vanessa dancing out there- oh wait"
- Moon got stuck on his wire and needs help
- Mapbot scared Freddy more than it did Gregory
- When Vanessa caught Gregory he actually fainted and she was freaked out
- Chica has gotten lost in Fazerblast way to many times
- *Roll clip of Monty dropping his glasses for the 80th time*
- "Say hello to the DJ, he is such a nice fellow!" *DJ proceeds to enter then exit the room*
- Several scenes of Gregory and Vanessa being chaotic siblings
- Cue Freddy dancing to the Chug Jug song
So, I started drawing the 2012 ninja turtles and realized that if the Mutant Mashup Au is a mix of both the 2012 and Rise iteration of ninja turtles, then I should probably combine their art styles when I draw them. It sounds fun but I'm not sure whether or not I should make the boys look more like the 2012 or Rise art style.
Should I give the Rise boys more chonky legs and upper arms or slim down the 2012 boys to look more human?
Then again, this is just a silly au with lots to figure out. The difference could be explained away as simply as "the 2012 boys just mutated differently" or "Draxum used a variation of the ooze when creating the Rise Boys." Both @possumsarenice and I agree that Draxum was the one to mutate both sets of Hamato's, not the 2012 Kraang, but that makes me wonder if he mutated all of them at once.
Putting a cut here in case you aren't a fan of large bodies of text.
Draxum would have no reason to capture Yoshi unless he did his research and figured out Lou had an older brother. It just so happened that Yoshi bought his turtles when Draxum went to capture him, in place of Yoshi encountering the Kraang in canon. (I think Draxum went to capture Yoshi himself and sent Huginn and Muninn to get Lou. He had little info. on what to expect from Yoshi so Draxum got pretty roughed up I think.)
Alternatively, Draxum had planned to use Yoshi as a guinea pig of sorts BEFORE he did anything to Lou and the Kraang started hunting Yoshi soon after he escaped with four freshly mutated baby turtles in tow. To someone like Draxum using Yoshi first would make sense as he was older and would be considered "less of a threat" than Lou. We all know that isn't the case but Draxum sure didn't.
If all the Hamato's mutated at once, then Yoshi and Lou would meet up a whole lot sooner and be forced to tolerate and live together like they used too. It opens the door to sooner healing and less misunderstandings because in this Au Yoshi and Lou are NOT on good terms. This is due to how they perceived each other's reaction to their mother's death.
Lou saw Yoshi still following the Hamato teachings, even though those teachings stole their mother away, and believed Yoshi was unfazed, he considered Yoshi heartless. Yoshi believed that Lou turning his back on the Hamato clan meant he turned his back on their mother and family, that's why he considered Lou a disgrace.
Lou would see his mother's death the same way he saw it in canon, an unnecessary sacrifice. (At least until he realized the great evil behind the seal was real.) Meanwhile, Yoshi would likely see his mother's death as an act of heroism. Lou resented the Hamato clan for years because the duty they carried was one that took away one of the people Lou loved most. Yoshi, on the other hand, understood the sacrifice and what it meant. He hated it, but he understood that his mother only wanted to protect her family, and the world, from the Dark Armor.
Yoshi knew that his mother's final act was one of love. Love for her sons, love for her family, love for the Earth itself.
Both learned a lesson that day. Lou learned that the burden of saving the world is one that will consume everything, leaving you with nothing but the broken pieces of a once happy life before you had the chance to really grow up. Yoshi learned that loss is a painful but necessary sacrifice to save everyone, to protect everyone. To him "it doesn't matter that the burden is heavy, what matters is that you carry it."
i like a lot of things. fair warning, I have very sporadic updates. worry not, I'm not dead.
