They have a series called Don't Look Back where Leia gets sent back in time to Pre-Attack of the Clones to try to keep the Empire from rising. It's SO well written and consumed my brain for a solid week while I was on vacation XD

When you think about how Val and Tanith first met, their relationship is really fucked up. Back then Val was twelve and had huge bruises all over her body (because of a fucking tree but still!). Instead of being concerned Tanith complimented her for it. Like, how fucked up is that??? Next thing we know, Ghastly and Tanith take Valkyrie along to Serpine´s castle, even though they thought they were gonna get caught or killed. 

To make things worse Melissa and Desmond have no idea about any of this. Sure, they think their daughter is kind of an outcast who spends to much time alone in her room but they also think she is safe and happy and stable. It´s a fucking miracle they didn´t literally kill Skulduggery when they found out what he put their daughter through...

So yeah, Tanith definitely should have protected Val from all that shit because no one else could have. Skulduggery didn´t see the problem, her parents didn´t know, China didn´t care, Ghastly was too close to Skulduggery and saw that Val was good for him and Kenspeckle didn´t have the influence. It´s really sad that Tanith sees Val as her little sister and still didn´t protect her. They could have still trained and everything but she shouldn´t have fought criminals at twelve.

y’all know i used to love tanith, but recently my feelings about her have become kind of complicated.

she was deeply traumatised as a kid when she was abandoned by her parents to become an assassin and was forced to kill someone at the ripe old age of 13.

on one hand, maybe this would make her think that valkyrie’s got it pretty good in comparison to what she went through.

but on the other hand, you would think that this might make her feel more protective of valkyrie and realise that skulduggery effectively training her to be an emotionally stunted ex-mass murderer (exactly like him) is more than a little bit fucked up.

it bothers me that she was so completely fine with a twelve year old being endangered by a man who is so clearly insane and dangerous, and has no sense of responsibility for her wellbeing.

ghastly, to his credit, tried a little bit in the beginning to stop skulduggery dragging her into this, but was very easily persuaded. ghastly had known skulduggery for hundreds of years, and knew more than most about all the heinous things he’s done, before, during and after the war. unless ghastly’s also a sociopath, there is no way he’d be okay with this then again, he knows skulduggery and yet still chooses to be friends with him, so idk.

of course china didn’t really care, but the way she’s written, especially in the beginning, makes it clear that she was never going to. frankly, i actually find it a little out of character that young valkyrie gains her respect so quickly, considering how little she had for almost everyone else. that said, valkyrie was trained from very early on that acting exactly like skulduggery was the only way to get his approval so he would keep teaching her magic, and skulduggery is one of the few people china does respect.

idk where i’m going with this but i guess it just makes me really sad that all the adults in her life completely failed her (minus kenspeckle, who tried, but wasn’t in a position where he could do anything about it and then DIED).

Anyway go read Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy for a much better story and magic based society. Also it’s set in Ireland and the main character, Stephanie/Valkyrie is best friends with a walking, talking, fireball throwing skeleton who drives a Bentley from the 50s and does nothing but talk complete snark. Good Omens fans would enjoy immensely.

Concept: Sam finds out elves can die of sadness, gets very concerned, starts doing his best to make sure Mr Legolas is happy all the time just in case

Apparently Grace Kelly used to call Stephanie her wild child or “enfant terrible”

So I just found out that one of Grace Kelly´s daughters is named Stephanie… Coincidence? After all Skulduggery is weirdly obsessed with Grace Kelly.

INTJ aesthetic things:

Getting a rush of adrenaline off of solving problems. Nothing beats that “eureka” moment!

Feeling profound joy upon entering a bookstore.

Walking into walls (and closed doors).

Hitting your legs on table corners.

I think you get it- being slightly physically inept.

Learning a small new piece of information and having everything come together like a huge mind-puzzle. Then, feeling like an absolute genius.

Finding peace in rainstorms and hot drinks.

Being so engulfed in a good book that the passage of time becomes arbitrary.

Feeling way deeper than other people will ever know.

Having arguments with yourself.

Changing paths because you saw someone you know in public.

Having a thought, and then multiple sub-thoughts, and then branching out all thoughts from there, analysing them, and coming to a bigger conclusion based on the assessment.

Either feeling like you can solve all the mysteries of the universe, or do nothing at all.

Sighing in relief upon entering [favourite subject] class.

Putting headphones in and feeling the world slowly fade away.

On the outside, looking completely normal. On the inside, questioning the existence human race and its cosmic insignificance.

There are so many people in this fandom who just hate Valkyrie or think she´s annoying, but honestly I love her character. 

She´s so incredibly flawed. She´s arrogant and rude. She often doesn´t think about collateral damage and thinks the end justifies the means, because that´s what she learned from Skulduggery. All those things make her a round and more dimensional character. I don´t wanna read about someone perfect. perfect is boring. I wanna read about someone who fucks up, someone who has bad character traits. Valkyrie does. She fucks up, she sometimes is a shitty person, but she always gets up again and tries her best.

In spite of her many flaws, she doesn´t stop trying to be a better person. Unlike Skulduggery she is able to get over herself and to admit that her (past) behavior is often questionable. Even though fate dealt her a shitty hand with the whole being Darquesse thing, she still tries her best. Obviously, she didn´t handle the situation very well back in phase 1, but she still basically was a kid back then. A very frightened kid who was told by Skulduggery again and again not to tell anyone else because they would find a solution... 

So yeah, Skulduggery and everything in phase 1 fucked Valkyrie up, but at the end of the day she at least tries to be a good person and i respect her for that. Also, can we all just take a moment to appreciate how fucking much she loves her family and Xena?
