Real
I’m reading Words of Radiance and the beef between Kaladin and Adolin is everything to me. I want them to make out.
Ah.. so I’ve finally gotten to my single favorite theme of the Stormlight Archives: How the world is mostly just a matter of perception. A king, a princess, a light eyes, a leader… is only that because others perceive them to be so. They aren’t inherently different than others, just possessing the arbitrary lineage, presence, and background for others to deign them as such.
It’s the entire power system of Roshar. You change things self-perception to soul-cast, you change the way your soul perceives gravity to lash, and so on and so forth for each and every power. It’s ALL perception.
Kaladin is just a bridge man. A slave. And all the men he comes in contact with laude him because of his presence. How many times have people said he MUST have been a light-eyes or what have you. It’s how they perceive him, because of how he carries himself, that causes this. Shallan is in the same situation, though I don’t feel the need to explain hers, as she quite literally created a personality based on this concept. It’s fascinating, real, and freeing. You are not bound by where you’re from who what you’ve done. At any moment - if you’ve the will to try - you can become anyone.
And this is why, because I believe in myself, I know I could get Jasnah to step on me
Me: Ugh,,,, god actually I haven’t kissed anyone in ages
Friend: Smh im literally right here-
Me: Super fucked up I can’t find anyone who wants to kiss me
It’s fantastic how much I hate young Dalinar while loving old Dalinar
When you look at Dalinar as a man, in his entirety, he is the perfect Bondsmith. His Honor and Passion mediated by Growth and Understanding. Were Odium not the enemy, Dalinar could have - probably would have - been able to be sponsored by all three gods of Roshar????
Seriously, looking at the Oathbringer flashbacks, this man must have had Odium kicking his feet. He charmed Cultivation and well- literally is chosen by Honor.
Rhythm of War/Mistborn Era One Spoilers
I- wait. Is. Is the Shard in the Interludes. Is that. Is that fuckin SAZED.
Oh hey Actual God appeared and he gave you a funny coat and some guns. This means we’ve hit the Sanderlanche.
You know, the Liberal Woke mob is going *too* far. They’re actually changing the history books!!! Yeah. That’s right.
You know Beowulf? Now *her* name is Beowolfcut. That’s right, they made the strongest king into a butch queen.
But they didn’t stop there. Gilgamesh is now *Girl*gamesh! And Enkidu? They’re now Enkidu!!!
And you know King Arthur? They’re now *Non-Binary Conforming Monarch* Arthur. And instead of pulling a sword from a stone, they pulled an pumpkin spice latte from the abortion clinic!?!
But it gets worse. They’re coming after America *itself.* Amerigo Vespucci is now Americunt Vespcoochie!!!! And… you guessed it, they’re going to rename the continents in *her* honor!!
This may seem unreal… but this is the future… or well, *past* that awaits you…
You guys have no idea at all how much I both A) Dread the upcoming Eshonai corruption arc and B) Desperately need an un-corruption arc
If you bastards come into the tags like “oh she dies in Book 4” I will END your pitiful lives. She’s gonna get married to and kiss Kaladin and live happily ever after.
I adore the way Stormlight handles war. Everyone believes earnestly that what they do is right. Fervently correct. They would and do die for their beliefs. The Listeners were correct to kill Gavilar, but the Alethi were correct to seek retaliation as well. It captures the experience of conflict better than most media I’ve ever seen.
Teft… he is so… I… what a tragic, beautiful man…
