I did it, again! I missed a prompting to get in touch with someone who is very dear to me.
To start, my favorite doll as a child was the Dennis-the-Menace doll. Here's a picture for those of you not familiar with this character:
For some reason, I had to have this doll when I saw him in a drug store while shopping with my mom. I ended up having 3 of them over a period of time. (As fate would have it, my husband's brother's name is Dennis. AND, we named our son after his uncle!!)
I attended a Catholic elementary school in Indiana and was taught by nuns in full habit. My fourth grade teacher, Sister Demetria, was my favorite. I must have been quite obsessed with my Dennis-the-Menace doll because Sister Demetria gave me a report card for him!! (This reminds me that I need to go through some paperwork to see if I still have the card) I never forgot this act of kindness, creativity and generosity!
I had been in contact with Sister Demetria in the past few years and discovered her new name, Sister Marilyn Reiser. We had some fun and engaging conversations via e-mail. I eventually lost contact yet had been thinking about her in the past few months. My "to-do list" consisted of re-connecting with her.
Sadly, I learned that Sister Marilyn passed away on August 11, 2012. My best friend from elementary school and I agreed that "Sister Demetria" went straight to Heaven!!
I’m not going to get too upset at myself for not contacting her before she died - I’m human. No excuse but it’s the best one I have for now. I would like for you to think about my story. Hopefully, you will not let those promptings that you experience slip away.

Where do you plan to celebrate the Super Bowl in Irvine?
I'm going to be at The Yard House in Irvine. I've checked their menu and the Mediterranean Veggie sandwich is calling to me! And, there are food selections for Kids, gluten sensitive and anyone in between.

I'm mesmerized by this video. Mother Nature at work in a lake in which I would swim as a child.

As a player, it says everything about you if you made the Hall of Fame. But, then again, boy... there's something about winning a Super Bowl. Terry Bradshaw
Six simple rituals for more winning: 1. Drink a glass of water when you wake up. Your body loses water while you sleep, so you’re naturally dehydrated in the morning. A glass of water when you wake helps start your day fresh. 2. Define your top 3. Every morning ask yourself, “What are the top three most important tasks that I will complete today?” Prioritizes your day accordingly and don’t sleep until the Top 3 are complete. 3. The 50/10 Rule. Solo-task and do more faster by working in 50/10 increments. Use a timer to work for 50 minutes on only one important task with 10 minute breaks in between. Spend your 10 minutes getting away from your desk, going outside, calling friends, meditating, or grabbing a glass of water. 4. Move and sweat daily. Regular movement keeps us healthy and alert. It boosts energy and mood, and relieves stress. 5. Express gratitude. Gratitude fosters happiness. Each morning, think of at least five things you’re thankful for. In times of stress, pause and reflect on these things. 6. Reflect daily. Bring closure to your day through 10 minutes of reflection. Asks yourself, “What went well?” and “What needs improvement?”
