Would you write a Bakugou Katsuki fluff where he unapologetically expresses his awe for his crush's skills in front of their whole class when Aiwaza asks them to guess who did best in some training?
I’m sorry for taking so long. I’ve been quite busy and didn’t have much time to write, but I hope you enjoy this drabble <3
Pairing: Katsuki Bakugou x genderneutral!reader
Warnings: Fluff, language, Bakugou’s insults
“Alright, class! Training is over, you all did a good job,” Eraserhead calls gruffly, gaining the attention of his students who are trying to catch their breaths after competing against each other for the past hours. Your shirt is drenched and sticks uncomfortably to your body, dirt clings to your skin and sweat glistens on your forehead as you whip your head around to listen to your teacher speak while your classmates slowly gather in front of him.
“I have been watching you very closely and while everyone has improved in both strength and skill, there was one student who exceeded you all,” he explains matter-of-factly, tired eyes moving to each of your friends exhausted faces to watch their reaction before he continues to speak. “What do you think? Who was the best today?”
Hushed whispers follow his question, assumptions thrown around as your classmates share their thoughts among themselves.
“Izuku did well today,” Ochako muses beside you, one finger pensively tapping against her chin and your friends nod in agreement. A few feet away, the boy blushes at her statement, scarred hands coming up to scratch at the back of his neck as he begins to ramble and stumble over his own words in embarrassment. While that odd habit of his was rather strange at the beginning of the school year, your class has quickly grown accustomed to his nervous manners and learned to pay attention to your teacher without getting distracted.
Momo clears her throat and raises a hand, ever the perfect student, only speaking up once Mr. Aizawa gives her an approving nod. “I think Todoroki was the best today. His quirk is strong and his fighting abilities got better during our last training session, so it has to be—"
“Shut up!” A familiar voice growls behind you. Strong arms push your classmates aside to get to the front and then you find none other than Bakugou standing to your left, a snarl pulling at the corners of his mouth and annoyance darkening his glare. There’s a small cut on his cheek, a minor injury he got during the lesson and you fight the urge to sweep your thumb over his skin and wipe some of his dried blood. Instead, you step aside to give him more space before he snaps at you for being so close. “Stupid Deku wasn’t the best and neither was Icyhot.”
His eyes meet yours. For a second, you believe you catch the tips of his ears tinge red under your gaze, but his next words leave you too stunned to think about it any longer. “It was Y/N.”
Your friends are rendered speechless. Somehow, even Aizawa seems dumbfounded, staring blankly at his student, seemingly uncertain if he’s still awake or if he has fallen asleep during the lesson and started dreaming again.
“What?! Don’t look at me like that,” Bakugou barks after another moment of disbelieving silence, though his features soften ever so slightly when he glances at you. “C'mon! It's obvious, idiots. Since the sports festival, Y/N has been pushing their quirk to the max and trained harder than most of you to get stronger. Their combat techniques and tactics are impressive and they outsmarted me several times during our fight because I was—"
He hesitates. You can see the conflict behind his eyes, the reluctance to admit his mistakes and possibly deem himself weak in front of the entire class. Honestly, he's done more than you ever expected of him, so it's only fair if you help him out of this uncomfortable situation. Just as you open your mouth to come to his aid and turn the attention away from him, he gets a hold of himself.
"Because I was too focused on causing damage to win. I made some strategic mistakes which they used to their advantage and that helped them gain the upper hand," Katsuki finishes and looks away, making sure that no one detects the blush that creeps up his neck and flushes his cheeks. Then, as if his actions haven't already shocked you enough, he gives you a pat on the shoulder followed by a scoff. "It was a close call though. I'm not that stupid, dumbass."
"What the fuck was that?" Denki quips in a hushed voice. He snickers quietly and yelps when Jirou jabs her elbow between his ribs, but you couldn't have said it any better — it's unbelievable and downright absurd to hear Bakugou praise someone else, instead of talking about himself and claiming that he's the best. Yet, it happened and you don't know how to react.
"Right," Aizawa clears his throat, giving you no chance to think of a proper way to express your gratitude for Katsuki's compliments. Though it doesn't appear as if he wanted to hear a 'thanks' because the second your teacher ends the training lesson, still bewildered, he already speeds off to the locker room, wordlessly leaving you and your classmates behind.
Mr. Compress: All the haters are like, “aren’t you wanted by the state?”
Mr. Compress: And it’s like, I’m wanted by a lot of people, okay? That’s the price of being pretty.
Mr. Compress: Anyways I did commit a smidge of treason.

acceptance is not going to hurt.
there are no quests. no moral choices. no divine prophecies. your worthiness is not questioned by your suffering . . . yet, you are still trapped. you are in your own cage.
why are you treating shifting like a quest? as if you are the hero in this greek myth, encountering gods and magical objects, evolving and understanding the world by completing a task who looked bigger than you. and your reward? is going back home.
but, it can be easy. and you are not used to this.
it looks like enemy territory. when people around you seemed to have it simple and you had to put twice of their effort to even accomplish something. it feels like everything you did in life is not worthy; simple tasks required hours of your time, and something as . . . whimsical as shifting, is simple? you are holding on your past experiences because that’s all you know. at the end you still accomplished those tasks, so with shifting is going to be the same.
but what if it’s the holding that it’s hurting you? accepting to let go is not a cruel joke. the cruelty is staying in a situation that is not helping you . . . and everything you accomplished in your life is not going to disappear because you acknowledged that something can be easy. acceptance doesn’t ask you to forget. it’s healing your suffering. it wants to make you understand that your cage is not everything that exists in the world.
accept it. the cage is open. you can walk away.
katsuki has reading glasses. he doesn’t wear them at school because he thinks they make him seem too approachable. so he wears contacts, but in private places like his dorm, yours, or at home he has them on. the first time you saw him with the on you stared and had a big grin on your face. he looked 10x more attractive so you couldn’t help yourself but squeal internally at the sight. katsuki did notice you though and snickered.
without looking in your direction he turned the next page in the book he was reading. “take a picture it’ll last longer.” he quipped sarcastically. but you were about to take true to his words and pulled your phone out to snap a picture. when he heard the shutter go off his head snapped up and narrowed his eyes. “i was being sarcastic.”
“i know, but you look so good!” you exclaimed as you showed him the photo. he looked at it momentarily before looking back at you.
“if anyone else sees that i’m deleting it from your phone.”
