Am I the only one that doesn’t think Loki is narcissistic? I think he craves atttention because he doesn’t have enough. He feels neglected and tries to make things about himself to attract attention. In the scene where Loki explains his theory to Mobius, he looks like an excited puppy. He is so excited for the possibility that maybe for once he’s right. That behaviour is something that is very common in neglected children. Sif says to Loki that he is alone and always will be alone. His whole life he had no real friends and the only person that ever believed in him was Frigga. He was always overlooked and lived in the shadows of Thor’s greatness. Loki said that he hurts people as a part of the illusion for a desperate attempt at having the control that he has never had. A narcissist would never be able to admit this and would not even believe it. Narcissism by definition is the pursuit of gratification from vanity or egotistic admiration of one's idealised self-image and attributes. We know that this is not Loki because from what we’ve seen throughout the mcu is that he does not think of himself as amazing. He is self-critical and insecure. Throughout his lifetime, he has been told over and over again that he is not enough and I think that he may say “I am a god” and “I am burdened with glorious purpose” to convince himself and others that he is great. Loki is not narcissistic, he hides his insecurities behind a shield that resembles narcissism.
Edit: I realize now that this post is a bit ableist and I’m really sorry if I offended anyone. I didn’t realize it was ableist when I posted it.

Loki watched as you stood in front of the mirror with your jeans and shirt on, tears pricking your eyes. You hated your body image. You felt like you were too big, ugly in most places, and overall detrimental to society. Your lips trembled and your eyes bubbled as you ran your hands across your bare skin.
You wanted to look nice for your boyfriend tonight. He was taking you out on a date and you just wanted to make him think you looked pretty. However, as you scrambled through your closet, you found nothing that flattered you.
“Love?” Loki’s voice called gently. You stopped your movements and sighed.
“Nothing fits or if it does, it looks awful. How do you even stand to look at me?” You asked, tears blurring your line of vision.
He walked up behind you and rested his hands on your shoulders, caressing them gently in his palms. Leaning over your neck, he pressed a sweet kiss to your cheek that made your heart flutter.
"Every part, no matter how you feel, is amazing to me. I could spend all day explaining everything I love about you." Loki said into your ear. “Tell me what you’re insecure about and I’ll prove to you why I love it.”
Sighing, you started with your face. “My nose is too big and my lips aren’t full.”
Loki smiled, turning you around to face him. “Your nose? Is perfect. I get to do this all the time,” He leaned forward and nuzzled his nose against yours, bringing you to feel a blush creep along your cheeks. “And those lips? I could kiss them for hours. They’re made perfect for me,” He said before capturing your mouth for a delicate kiss. It was one that made you lose your breath as you clutched your fingertips around his wrist and smiled.
“What’s next, Love?” He caressed your cheek with his thumbs.
Your eyes drifted down to your chest. Without saying a word, Loki nodded once in understanding.
Gently removing the shirt you had tried on away from your skin, left you standing there in your jeans and bra. Loki leaned down, his long lengths tickling your skin as he kissed each breast. “These are splendid, Love,” He moaned to you. “Just think… If we ever decide to expand our family, not only do I get to have these to myself, you’ll nurture our babe.” He smiled, making you smile.
“Where to next?” He asked.
You ran your hands down the length of your sides. To you, your stomach looked swollen. Your curves were evident, but you hated the dimples in your skin and the stretch marks dotting your skin.
“Oh, Darling,” Loki sighed, dropping to his knees. He peppered your stomach with kisses and featherlight touches that sent shivers down your spine. “Your stomach? Is extraordinary. Each curve and stretch mark makes you all the more gorgeous. This may be my favorite part about you, Love… And I know exactly where you’re headed next, so I’ll take it upon myself.”
Your eyebrows furrowed until he roamed his hands across your thighs. “Your thighs are magnificent, my Love. Not only could you crush my head in between these beloved legs - which I’m never opposed to - you should feel how they shake as I pleasure you. It’s truly earth-shattering.” Loki moaned, kissing the skin as he rolled down your jeans. Helping you step out of them, he continued his journey.
Focusing his attention, he was slowly on the uprise. His fingertips ghosted across your bottom where it gave it a teasing squeeze, leaving you to jump lightly.
He smiled and presented himself at your back. Kissing your shoulders and dragging a finger down the length of your spine, your eyes closed.
“You are gorgeous, Darling. The most breathtaking woman I have ever met. I’m so lucky to call you mine.” He grinned.
Smiling, you closed your eyes as you bit your lip.
“Thank you, Loki…” You whispered as he kissed you delicately.
“Of course, Darling… Now put on that sexy gold dress you know I love so much. I promise it looks exquisite on you.”
You nodded, feeling a lot more confident in yourself.
Gold dress it is.

it’s insane to me how most people don’t take maladaptive daydreaming seriously and just think it’s too much daydreaming. like… they can’t even imagine how weird it is to feel so connected to fake people and worlds to the point you don’t even care much about real life anymore, every waking moment of my life I’m in that world with those people, reality now feels strange and uncomfortable to me. I feel like a piece of meat carrying a consciousness floating in space, just strange. I’m never fully aware of the world around me either. living feels like a chore, but daydreaming makes me feel real and alive. like it’s my home and I belong there. My parame’s age feels more real to me than my real one. I even mistake the two sometimes when speaking to myself.
I logically I know these people in my mind are not real, these worlds, but my brain, my subconscious doesn’t undestand, if they’re not real why do they make me feel alive, make me feel more emotions than the real world. it’s like I’m in a denial stage that never goes away. I can’t comprehend they’re not real. my brain doesn’t compute.
my paras get me, they understand me more than anyone else and they’re more close to me than anyone else. I feel more close to them than my friends or family and that feels so pathetic to say. it almost feels like they have a mind of their own. it’s ruining my life but I can’t let it go because it’s most of my life, even my real memories feel distant and fake but my daydreams don’t.
I feel so alone because most people don’t care and will never understand, even on social media madd is just romantisized and people spread misinformation. only here I feel heard. at least other disorders are taken seriously, and people know about them. all i could ask for is more understanding. I want people to actually research this thoroughly and figure out what the hell this really is. from what i know, madd is very similar to DP/DR.
“Loki’s chasing power. But the reason he’s chasing power is because, really, he’s chasing self-esteem. Anyone— I think anyone who feels powerful has no need to reach for it. Those in the world who feel they aren’t powerful, they seem to have no self-love, no self-esteem, are constantly trying to get the power.” — Tom Hiddleston
if hopeless romance, fantasy, a cottage with garden, museum of art and colour palette would be a person, it’d be me.
Who here doesn’t like some good old Winter Soldier angst? Raise your hands. Now leave, this post is not for you.
Just kidding. Stay if you want. But be warned: it may get a teeny bit angsty.
Okay, so, we all know The Phrase. We’ve had this phrase destroy our souls again and again, in the canon, in fanfiction, in our unruly daydreams about the beauty and tragedy of a certain brainwashed supersoldier.
Oh god. The feels. But on we go.
I want desperately to use this phrase in my fics for obvious angst purposes, but here’s the thing: I’m a native Russian speaker and a professional translator, and the Russian version of the phrase from the movie is cutting my heart into tiny miserable pieces every time I think about it. (Which is, admittedly, A LOT.)
So, what is wrong with it?
In Captain America: Civil War, we hear Bucky say in an accent heavier than his metal arm, “я готов отвечать” [“ya gotov otvechat’”], after being put into the mindless killer machine mode by a bunch of horribly mangled Russian words and phrases. According to the subtitles, it means “ready to comply.”
Except that it doesn’t. The Russian verb “отвечать” [“otvechat’”] has a range of meanings, from “to reply” to “to account for” and so on. The only context in which it can correspond to the English verb “to comply” is when talking about a gas pipe complying with safety requirements or a rant post complying with Tumblr community guidelines.
So, “я готов отвечать” can mean something like “I’m ready to answer [your questions]” or “I’m ready to assume responsibility [for something],” turning the scene into some kind of an interrogation or an investigation, while we all know that it’s neither.
There’s another version, straight from our dear Google Translate.
(I love Google Translate so much. It always proves that the need for human translators will never cease.)
What’s wrong with this one? Well, “я готов подчиниться” [“ya gotov podchinit’sya”] is much better in terms of word choice. The Russian verb “подчиниться” [“podchinit’sya”] does, indeed, mean “to obey, to submit, to surrender” and so on. The problem is with the verb form.
Verbs in Russian have two aspects: the perfective aspect, which indicates a one-time action, and the imperfective aspect, which points to a more ongoing kind of thing. Unaware of the context, Google Translate uses the perfective aspect, which turns the phrase into “I’m ready to comply, but only just this once, don’t bother me after that.”
The proper form would be “подчиняться” [“podchinyat’sya”] instead of “подчиниться” [“podchinit’sya”] (yes, it’s a one letter difference, but see how huge it is?). The whole phrase would then be “я готов подчиняться” [“ya gotov podchinyat’sya”], which might even pass for an adequate translation.
But there’s one more thing.
The English phrase doesn’t have a first-person pronoun. In fact, it doesn’t have any pronoun at all. It doesn’t indicate the speaker in any way, because the one saying it isn’t supposed to be a person. The ‘who’ here isn’t important. What is important, is that whoever (or whatever) it is, is ready.
Here, have a tissue.
The Russian phrase, however, begins with “Я” [“Ya”], which means, unsurprisingly, “I” and is not syntactically mandatory in this case. Just like in English.
Moreover, it doesn’t figure much in standard military expressions. Why waste precious army time on such meaningless things as personal pronouns? Again, there are no persons here. Only soldiers.
My personal favorite for rendering “ready to comply” in Russian is “готов служить” [“gotov sluzhit’”], which means “ready to serve” as in “to serve one’s country.” Or one’s captors. Take your pick.
Oh wait, you’re not allowed to choose. Sorry.
The pros for this version are: it’s a standard phrase that indicates one’s willingness to obey and submit and is primarily used in the military context. Moreover, it’s a standard Russian phrase, and seeing Bucky utter it like some common Soviet private would be so much more heartbreaking. (Yes, even more.)
The cons are: it’s a standard phrase. As far as I understand, “ready to comply” isn’t standard military lingo, so maybe the Russian version should reflect that as well. Or maybe I’m overthinking it.
In conclusion? Marvel couldn’t splurge on an actual Russian speaker to proofread a couple of sentences, and now I’m forever torn between wanting a phrase that sounds like idiomatic Russian instead of machine translation and wanting to make a recognizable fandom reference.
Fandom life is hard, people.

BUT☝🏼
I mean...
I enjoy journaling. It’s almost like therapy, but you’re figuring it out by yourself. You’re trying to figure out your own issues by putting it on paper, sometimes it’s for self reflecting or for figuring yourself out. This is very similar to shadow work.
What is shadow work?
Shadow work is addressing your shadow self, the side of you that you bury deep down and avoid. It’s your unconscious mind, and it is important to uncover this side of you in order to achieve your highest self. There are multiple ways to do this, but the most known (and most effective in my opinion), is journaling. I thought I should share 100 prompts that really make you think.
1. What was one time you remember feeling wronged as a child? How did you react? Has this affected you into adulthood? How?
2. Think about one time where you’ve felt betrayed. What would you say to the person who broke your trust?
3. Write about a time you felt let down by someone you’d previously looked up to.
4. What’s one trait you see in other people that you wish you had. Why do you not possess this characteristic yourself?
5. Do you often find yourself over-thinking what you’ve said or how you’ve acted? What usually triggers this?
6. What were your parents’/guardians’ core values while you were growing up? Do you hold these today or do they differ? How so?

12. What triggers you? Can you identify where this came from?

he constantly talks about his mother because he trusts you with his feelings
he’s definitely the type of boyfriend to get super jealous
someone will look at you for too long and he can’t control is jealousy and possessiveness
you mean the world to him so you wouldn’t really fight a lot but if you did they were huge and sometimes would get out of control
but you make up with angry sex so it’s all good
he wants to give you everything he didn’t have because he knows what it feels like to have nothing
like if you want a throne he’ll give you one, all you have to do is ask
his love language is 100% touch but soft touches i.e. hand holding, cheek strokes, playing with your hair etc.
he has trust issues...shocker...but once he lets you in he tells you everything because he trusts you so much
will definitely gossip with you, especially if it’s about thor...i mean who are we kidding
FOREHEAD KISSES
NECK KISSES
he needs to be reassured a lot, so expect days were he’s pouty and comes back to his normal self when you smother him with love
would always try to prank or scare you with his illusions but you always see right through them, making him believe that you’re truly his soulmate
will cry on your shoulder after frigga’s death
loki would protect you with everything he has, even if that means with his life
he would literally make fun of you after trying on his helmet and looking like an idiot
you would definitely have a sarcastic-type of relationship where you poke fun at each other constantly and people around you are confused if you’re serious or not
but god forbid someone else makes fun of you...they might as well flee asgard or new york depending on where you’re currently staying
you are always his number one priority
late night walks
stargazing
staying up late and talking about everything and everyone
being disappointed in him when he ordered the attack on new york
and he realised he messed up big time
he was so disappointed in himself for hurting you and took out the hurt on himself
you would constantly be surrounded by words like, ‘why are you dating him?’ ; ‘he’s evil.’ ; ‘how can you love someone like him?’
he loves sleeping next to you
he just feels so safe
ty to all these amazing writers who have left me with butterflies in my stomach and/or tears rolling down my face, much appreciated <3
