Snow Leopard Panthera Uncia Family: Felidae Genus: Panthera Conservation Status: Vulnerable I Really

Snow Leopard Panthera uncia Family: Felidae Genus: Panthera Conservation Status: Vulnerable I really enjoyed drawing this animal and the outcome really surprised me. I think I learned how to draw felines. Is becoming easier, more enjoyable, and with better results. I feel this one looks like a photograph. I don't wanna sound arrogant but I'm just proud of my work. To see the whole illustration become a member of the club by clicking here. __________________________ Thank you.

This One Was A Total Challenge. This Tiger Got Extinct In The 70s, And There Are Not So Many Photographs

This one was a total challenge. This tiger got extinct in the 70s, and there are not so many photographs of it, making it hard to draw. Actually, the one I based the pose on was a not-so-common and pixelated photograph of a dissected tiger in a museum that I found on the internet. I had to use various different pictures of tigers for the head, legs, tail, etc., keeping an eye on the characteristic features of the actual Caspian Tiger. Caspian Tiger This tiger was found in the middle east. From Ukraine to Western China. Its extinction began with the colonization of Russia by Turkestan in the late 19th century. Tigers were hunted by sportsmen and military personnel, their habitat was replaced by extensive croplands, and their nature was already vulnerable because of the abrupt of their environment. Until the 20th century, the Russian army cleared predators around settlements or potential agricultural lands. Also, deer and wild pigs (Tiger's prey) in the area was decimated by the increasing human population in the area. There are allegedly some sights of the animal but nothing has been confirmed. I think this is a clear example that every action that we make has an impact on nature. I hope one day we finally learn to live in harmony with what surrounds us. We lost a loved one but imagine how many unknown animals we have lost. Store Instagram ____________________________________________

The South African Giraffe Is The Last Member Of The Giraffe Family I've Been Studying, And It's Been

The South African Giraffe is the last member of the giraffe family I've been studying, and it's been quite an adventure. While I still struggle to identify some of the subspecies, I feel confident in recognizing most of them.

South African Giraffe

The South African Giraffe, also known as the Cape Giraffe, is a fascinating subspecies with a population of approximately 37,000 individuals. Interestingly, it was once extinct in some of its native areas in Southern Africa, but thanks to reintroduction efforts, its population has seen an impressive 150% increase. This is certainly good news for this subspecies, which is now a common resident in zoos, private farms, and ranches around the world.

With its distinctive coat pattern of cream-colored patches with orange-brown edges, the South African Giraffe is a unique and beautiful animal. While habitat loss, poaching, and trophy hunting continue to threaten their populations, conservation efforts are helping to protect these magnificent creatures for future generations to enjoy.

Vicuña The Last Species Of The Family And The Smallest Too. And Like Many Small Things It Is Also The

Vicuña The last species of the family and the smallest too. And like many small things it is also the most precious treasure. The wool of the vicuña is among the most expensive textiles worldwide. A meter square can reach an impressive $3000 US. being mostly exclusive for the most prestigious high couture brands in the world.

In a move that I found very smart from the governments where the animal can be found, is that the exportation of these animals is strictly prohibited making these countries the only ones who can manage the vicuña’s wool business. Good for them!

Once widespread in millions, it was vastly hunted when the conquerors discovered America (A repeated story), until 1950 where its numbers plumped to mere 10.000. Today is heavily protected and its situation is stable. However,  Scientist state that its stable population depends of the different laws of protection. If those laws would be lifted, the animal will be at the brick of extinction in just five years.

The next family is a very grumpy cute looking giant.

________

I’ve been improving the illustrations of the animals making it more realistic in order for the information to be clearer. Can you tell the difference of these ones compare to the previous ones?

Thanks again for your support, likes, reblog and follows, means a lot to me. Don’t forget that if you want to buy some of the posters of the previous families of animals you can find them here: Poster of Species   On my Instagram account, I’m planning to post part of the illustration process. Don’t miss it:  Species of the World See you next time.

Sei Whale
Sei Whale

Sei Whale

Is the third-largest rorqual before the Fin whale and the Blue whale. Heavily hunted in the XIX and XX century its numbers dropped from 250.000 to 80.000 which in other words mean less than a third of the pre whaling population. Today luckily is protected.

Mass deaths events have been recorded numerous times and the reason why isn't clear but it appears to be endemic poisoning called red tide. It is a phenomenon of decoloration of the sea surface that occurs by an overpopulation of certain microorganisms, apparently caused by the unprecedented warming of the Pacific Ocean. The biggest mass death event documented happened in Chile in June 2015 where 337 death Sei Whales were counted.

Przewalski's Horse:

Przewalski's Horse:

The Przewalski Horse is the only truly wild horse that remains. Extinct at some point for more than 30 years, it was the zoos who actually brought them back. By 1940′s its number began to decline rapidly and by 1969 after a fruitless search, only one individual was spotted in the wild. Only a handful of this animals were surviving in some of the zoos of Europe.

A breeding program began in the Netherlands by 1977. By 1979 the program was able to maximize the genetic diversity from the almost 400 individuals spread in 16th different facilities. By early 1900s, the number of horses increased by over 1500. The horse is now reintroduced to its natural habitat and today it’s numbers remain stable.

Zoos are controversial but I personally think they are crucial at the conservation of the species (I’m talking about zoos that are actually working on precede the life of many species, not the ones that are created just for our own selfish enjoyment). There is of course room for improvement but a zoo is not what it used to be 40 years ago. There is a better understanding of the behavior of the animals today and this allow us to make better enclosures that are a more friendly space for the animals inside.

On the other hand, we are making the world an uncertain place. Many of the habitats are being vanished from earth and many species have seen their numbers drastically reduced because of this. Maybe the zoos are the new futuristic Noah’s Arc. A place for recovery, where endanger animals can survive in this uncertain times. Then, we can have more time to learn how to live on earth without destroying it and put them back where they belong once everything is safe again.

If is not for zoos, the Przewalski Horse would have vanished from earth many years ago.

PD. I change a little the layout. What do you think?

Lesser Mouse Deer

Lesser Mouse Deer

Not much is known about this species. It seems to be an apparent lack of interest to study this family which to me is hard to explain if we count that are the smallest hoofed animals in the world and hasn’t changed much in millions of years. This shows a form of adaptability that is remarkable and that I believe deserves to be studied.

Because very little is known about this animal in general, is hard to assess a truthful census. It’s known to be widely spread in Southeast Asia and is often part of the menu of villagers or even taken as a pet. (Please don’t have one. Let’s leave wild things wild)
