It Feels Like Everyone I Speak To Has Some Internalized Misogyny

sick of ppl calling themselves feminists and then being highly uneducated. just halfassing it. i wish to be that peaceful and ignorant but unfortunately im not dense like that :/

Funny how words change. I was thinking about the phrase "gentleman's club," and what I'd IMAGINE that would mean (based on the definition of "gentleman") is a place for well-bred, intelligent, likely educated, civilized men to talk, drink and smoke cigars with other men of the same mindset. I picture Mr. Darcy sitting there with Mr. Bingley. Instead, it's come to mean "The lowest, dumbest, most perverted dirt bags you can imagine throwing filthy dollar bills at women who they're paying to take their clothes off." The men who visit these places are the furthest thing from gentlemen.

The funny thing is, if there were a "Lady's Club" it would probably still resemble exactly what we'd imagine: well-dressed, elegant women having a beautiful luncheon with their female friends, behaving totally appropriately. The most they might do that was "out of character" for ladies (supposedly) is laugh uproariously after a few glasses of wine.

Since I'm on the subject, Tea Rooms (which were very popular in America in the 1910's-20's and were generally owned by women) were very close to what I described as a Lady's Club, and I'd love to see them brought back. Getting dressed up to go to a fancy tea with a lot of female friends sounds like so much fun!

as a bengali girl one of the biggest reasons i used to think i was "nonbinary" was bc i was told it was normal to have an incongruence w/ womanhood bc of my race... who fed me this lie

why is womanhood based on a woman's proximity to whiteness?? why are women of color deemed less female for the not fitting standards made against us? and why is the solution to that to push us into some third gender instead of just abolishing gender itself?????

everyday i’m grateful i’m not religious/forced to be religious. i love the freedom that comes with not praying to a magic man in the sky with bullshit rules that restrict my autonomy 🙏

ppl who say stuff like this have never interacted with a terf because literally most of them say “womanhood isn’t a feeling. it’s an adult human female” and dislike gender stereotypes of “woman=gentle feminine dress”, something that many trans women seem to correlate “feeling like a woman” with.

they reduce women to their biology would make sense if terfs said something along the lines of “women are made to give birth and menstruate”. but… they don’t. they are not being defined by their uterus. they say a woman is an adult human female. that’s it. you’re gonna say googles reducing women to their biology because “woman is a female adult human” ??

Nobody really talks about how lonely it can be as a radfem, especially how alienated you feel from other women. The continuous betrayal and ridicule you’ll experience from the same people who agree with surface-level feminist analyses is so disheartening.

You’re eager to criticize poor male behavior yet you also vehemently deny real-world oppression that we all suffer from? Acknowledging the wage gap and sexual violence statistics is all fun and games but deconstructing anything beyond that is somehow taking things too far? Do you not see the irony in condemning things like the cosmetic industry while degrading other women who choose not to shave?

I want to know at what point they think the oppression of women starts and stops. Do you genuinely believe that thousands of years of misogyny simply disappears overnight? Is it truly the case that your father, your brother, your boyfriend have miraculously been deprogrammed and it’s all other men that are the problem?

Everyone wants to shit on men until it comes time to reconcile with the fact that the majority of them actively and intentionally contribute to maintaining a patriarchal society. Then it just gets too real

Reminder that saying no is not being a bitch, it's having the human right of choice. Being against males on female spaces is not being a bigot, it's being against misogyny. Wearing comfortable clothes and liking your natural body is not letting yourself go, it's being free from society's impossible beauty standards set on women.

Prostitution happens when one person wants to have sex, and the other person does not. If both people wanted to have sex, no money would need to be exchanged. Men use money to override your no. They have total and complete control of the dynamic.

Most prostitution is drug addiction and trafficking. I don't seen anyone empowered there.

i cant think of anything more humiliating than describing myself as woman to one of those people who thinks of 'woman' as an identity rather than a physical state of being. like yes im a woman but that doesnt mean anything about me it doesnt tell you anything at all about who i am or how i feel and im certainly not whatever the fuck YOU think a woman is. i just happen to have a pussy dont be fucking weird about it.
