Another in a series of sketchbook drawings based on panels found (and messed around with) in old 50′s-era Crime comic-books.. Again, these have been inspired by Charles Burns’ recent “LOVE NEST” book. Random noir-ish images without dialogue or sound balloons..

A friend at work is vacationing in Cape Cod, this week.. But before he left, he had asked if I might contribute artwork to his "TIKI"-themed sketchbook? I was flattered, of course. But what to draw? When in doubt,-- always go with Kirby!! So here is:   "As old as the stars, and as powerful as the sun.. He is the immortal BOMBU!!"    And yes, he IS an Oobagonian, apparently..

“Scarilyn” chills on a Neitherworld beach.. A 29 year-old layout from the 12th episode in Season One of “Beetlejuice”, entitled: "Quit While You're a Head".. This was my first real Animation job, back in 1989. 

A commission that I did back in 2004, for a Gordon K. (from San Diego).. He had a very unique request for a trapped Animé-style Mermaid.. Thankfully, he also provided me with a good deal of reference material..  I tried my best to incorporate everything he'd asked for.. Hopefully, he enjoyed the result?

'HELLBOY' illo that I did for a charity auction, back in 2004.. Parts of it look wonky to me now. But I liked how the coloring came out. Especially, the swamp scum details..

A rough 'SUPERMAN' prelim from 2004 that was part of a commission; complete with anatomy revision notes to myself.. I lost something in the final inks on this one, which is often the case.. Deciding what to keep and what to throw out at the end, is always the hardest part.. Frustrating!

I had a half-finished pencil test or a HELLBOY rotation that I worked on, in 2000. Last night, I added and inked a few missing drawings, so that I could get it ready to post on HELLBOY Day! Congratulations to Mike Mignola for 25 Years of this iconic character!

This is the other Daniel Torres artwork, that I purchased at a recent Heritage Auction.. A large mixed media illustration of “Roy Batty” from one of my favorite films: "BLADE RUNNER”! You can see in the 2 large panels across the top, that Torres illustrated: “Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion..” (LEFT) As well as: “..C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate” (RIGHT)  This illustration was published in the November 2019 issue of FOTOGRAMAS Magazine, to accompany an article about Ridley Scott’s groundbreaking 1982 film!
