By the way, fanfiction isn't the place for reviews or criticism.
When you're a published author, it's like you're preparing a meal in a food competition. You expect a rating and to be told what worked and what didn't to improve your craft and embark on your career.
When you're a fanfiction author, it's like taking some of your free time to enjoy the process of baking cookies and then offering them to someone to be kind.
If you take a cookie from the plate, you don't spit it out and tell them it sucked.
Unless the writer asks for your opinion, you can keep it to yourself.
Adding this to clarify, and you don't have to agree with this by any means, I cannot force you to, but the reason Ao3 and Fanfiction isn't the space for criticism and ratings...is that it is a fan space created by fans for fans.
It isn't school.
It is a space where people with the same interests can congregate and enjoy the same fandom.
When you think about commenting on an fanfic authors fics, don't think if it as fishing around in your pocket to give them a compliment.
Compliments are nice. Most everyone likes compliments.
"I like your character development."
"You paint wonderful imagry."
Those are comments that are compliments. Speaking for myself as a fanfic writer they're nice, but they're not what my fan heart craves.
I want engagement with my readers.
The best comments I get aren't talking about my skill as a writer, but what just happened in the story because you and I (the reader) are already fans of the world created.
Comments like:
"NOOOOOOOO!"
"Did she actually just do that?"
"EXCUSE me?!?!"
None of these comments are compliments and none are critical. They are emotionally aligned with the story. They are engaged and with this engagement we create a little community in this tiny little space we get to call ours.
I cannot stop people from saying cruel things, but I can inform those people of the "dangers" so to speak when people treat fandom spaces like Ao3 as if it's Goodreads.
Writers, who write for themselves and offer it to you out of kindness, can decide that if people are just going to spit out their cookies they don't need to post about them anymore and that is how fandom spaces die.
If you don't like the flavor of cookie they made, or you're allergic to one of its ingredients...don't eat the cookie. Put it back for someone else to enjoy and then go find the flavor you do like.

I wrote a Philinda fic, it’s linked here on Wattpad and Ao3 :)

Haikyuu boys headcanons because I said so: art vs theatre vs band kid edition
Hinata— can’t read music and can’t draw but he would have an absolute BLAST doing either. I’d stick him in theatre mostly because he’s loud but dedicated and that’s like 90% of us.
Kageyama— theatre also, but because his sister liked to put him in costumes as a kid and he just kinda went with it and now he has no qualms putting on a shitty wig for the sake of an in-class play.
Daichi— band kid, though he’s on bells and is often caught staring off into the distance more than he plays and gets scolded for it a LOT. Alternatively, he could also be the stage manager and get 17937 headaches from his crew.
Suga— tech theatre kid. Maybe assistant stage manager if Daichi’s the SM. I could also see him being a chaotic art kid with the other setters, the kind that adopts all of his underclassmen and makes them call him “dad” and feeds them.
Oikawa— theatre kid (yes it seems like I’m making them all theatre kids) because he’s loud and dramatic as shit and also he’s like me and I’m one of them so. He assistant directs and designs costumes and is also a part time art kid.
Iwaizumi— art, but in the quiet crowd instead of the chaotic crowd. Would be the type to slap Oikawa to shut up. ‘Adopts’ Kindaichi, Kageyama, and Kyoutani after he feeds them once and they latch onto him.
Ushijima— band. He’s rich. He’s a band kid. I could see him also being in tech theatre OR as the lead of the musical because he can sing. He CAN. He just isn’t that good at it but boy is he a looker and the theatre department is short on cash so if that’s what it takes to get the audience through the door, the director doesn’t see a problem with it.
Tendou— art kid. Would draw on you. Would bite you. Moonlights as the set designer.
Semi— band kind all the way (duh) but if he auditioned for a musical they wouldn’t turn him down either. Unfortunately he doesn’t try.
Kita— none, he’d just go home. An argument could be made for art but ONLY if it was hand carving.
Aran— quiet band kid, plays the tenor sax, 57 people have a crush on him but he’s only focused on the guy who sits in front of him in his pre-calc class.
Atsumu— theatre kid. Theatre kid. His hair would reflect the light and blind whoever’s looking at him and his only response would be that he was a star. Tried to quit theatre before but was threatened by everyone to stay or else.
Osamu— none of them, but he would run a cooking club that closes a year after his graduation.
Futakuchi— band kid because he’s annoying as fuck but still pretty as hell and also he’s so pissy 99% of the time. He only picked band because he hated art homework and didn’t want to have people look at him acting on a stage. Claimed it was “too much for his ego”.
Aone— band kid with futakuchi but he plays the piano and doesn’t know what to do when there isn’t a piano part to play. He helps make costumes and props for the drama department.
Kuroo— tech theatre kid that manages the cast and crew. Makes way too many bad jokes and has earned himself the title “father of the opera” because he went on a rant about how Raul could’ve just avoided all of that if he didn’t kidnap Christine. Also because he’s a huge ass nerd.
Kenma— tech theatre, light and sound ops. Is only there because Kuroo is there.
Bokuto— chaotic art kid. He would. He’d be so good at being chaotic. His art… not so much.
Akaashi— either a theatre management kid or a section leader band kid. Either way he’s stressed as hell and overwhelmed 99% of the time.
Hey chat , it appears I need someone to yell at me to write
Hello, different anon to… both of the earlier ones lol.
Delighted to see you back with Maydaisy Universe crumbs!
I do have a small question, though: Why and when does Skye start going by Daisy? (And bonus question: how does May feel about it?)
I love the universe you’ve created so much and I have a good many scenes that I’d like to ask what your versions would be like, but I’ll hold myself back for now 😅 (Oh but please don’t feel pressured to write anything, I just wanted to express my appreciation 😊.)
Thank you in advance if you decide to answer this, and I hope you have a lovely day! xx
Hi, different Anon! Happy to hear from you!
Before we start, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who sent me asks because this is the most productive I've been in weeks, and please, please, please, send me more of these! Send as many as you want, and I'll try my best to fulfill all of them. I love seeing these in my inbox every day. Feel free to send me a text or comment on any of these as well, since I'm starved of interaction. I don't plan on posting any of these onto ao3, so little ficlets are all you'll get from me for now.
Onto the main event!

(2x22: SOS pt. 2)
(In the bunks.)
May hovered nervously at the door. Skye had said that she wanted to talk about something. It had been years since the last time they had this sort of talk, but May still knew the ritual. She'd let Skye know that she was outside her door with some sort of snack (Phil made them hot chocolate this time) and wait until the door opened so she could go in and they could start. Talking.
The door swung open, and May went in, walking around the bed to the side that faced the wall. Skye was sitting with her back against the side of the bed, accepting the mug of hot chocolate that was offered to her.
May settled down next to her, shoulder to shoulder. They both stared aimlessly at the wall in front of them.
"I'm fine," Skye began, and they both knew that was a lie. "I'm not... feeling weird or panicky or anything. I just sent Ward and Kara off with Cal for their trip to LA. Cal's... he's very excited to see his clinic."
Her mother hummed softly. "And you? Are you..." She sighed. "How did your talk go with him? Before the procedure."
Skye fidgeted with her hands. It was a nervous habit, one that she had learned to suppress on most occasions. "It was fine," she replied. "He told me about my past. Uh..." She quirked up the corner of her mouth, sparing a glance at the agent next to her. "Apparently, I liked applesauce over bananas and my grandparents are dead."
May huffed a laugh.
"He told me my name, too." Skye's hands fiddled with themselves. Nervous habit. "My full name. Apparently, they never gave me one in Chinese because we were going to move back to the States."
"What is it?" May asked after a moment. "Your real name."
"Daisy Louise Johnson," Skye said, her smile twisting around the words. "Not sure where the Louise part comes from. Maybe a grandma or a great-aunt."
May nodded. She took a sip of her hot chocolate. "Are you going to keep it?" she asked. "Change it back?"
Skye shrugged lightly. "I'm not sure. I wanted to, uh..." She shifted closer to May. "Ask you first."
"It'll take some getting used to," was the first thing out of May's mouth. "Phil will have the hardest time out of all of us. But I think you can do it. It's your decision."
Skye drained her mug, placing it on her bedside table before she spoke again. "I think..." She hesitated. "I think I might want to. But I want to change some things as well. Because-" Skye swallowed nervously- "Well, I wanted it to mean something."
Avoiding May's eyes, she passed her mother a notepad with three words scribbled on it hastily over and over again, like Skye was practicing her signature.
May traced her fingertip over the clearest three, eyes curious and processing what had been presented to her.
'Daisy May Johnson'.
Oh.
Oh, I see.
May glanced at her daughter, who’d taken to staring at the floor and picking at her hands absent-mindedly. “I think it suits you,” she said quietly.
Skye was quick to look up at her, a small smile blooming on her face. “You really think so?”
May pulled the girl closer, breathing it in. They had a long few months. This… this felt like the natural conclusion and a new doorway for them to step through. “Yeah, I do,” she said. “You want to tell Phil, or should I?”
Skye chuckled. “I think I’ll tell him, but can you be there?” She buried her head in May’s shoulder. “He’s gonna be all weird about it until you say it’s not weird.”
“Of course.” May leaned her head on Skye’s. “Thank you.”
Skye hummed. “For what?”
“Keeping me with you.” May squeezed Skye’s hand. “Me and Phil, we wanted to talk to you about what we talked about after you found your parents, but it might not be the right time.”
Her daughter smiled softly. “I don’t think it is,” she said. “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be. You’re…” May held Skye tighter. Well, she’d have to stop calling her ‘Skye’ in her head soon. She’ll make the switch once it’s official. “I’m glad to have you as you are.”
Skye tapped her hand twice, the one she was holding.
I love you.
May let herself relax for a moment, and let the silence blanket them like she used to tuck Skye in.
It’ll be a change, but for her daughter, it was worth it.
I love this panel I wanted to redraw it in my style :)
