10 Reasons Why The 100 Is Literally the Shit

1. The main character is bisexual. Which you never fucking see, ever.

2. Physically disabled characters, one in particular who’s in the main cast, which you also never see. And disabled characters that don’t just miraculously heal, either.

3. There’s more than one gay character, and their personal subplot doesn’t revolve around them being gay.

4. Strong female characters. So many of them, Jesus H Roosevelt Christ. There are no damsels in distress, they all know how to kick some arse on their own. Even smaller roles, like Zoran’s mother in the second season, have substance to them.

5. Diverse cast with Latina characters, black characters and Asian characters, and not just a ‘pretend diverse’ cast with a single black background character who’s only there for some sort of comic relief.

6. They don’t gloss over issues of mental health, class, ethics and morality, which is all practically unheard of.

7. Villains, and in this particular case female villains, actually have some substance to their characters. God, you even sympathise with some of them, and those are the best kinds of villains.

8. Strong, interesting female characters don’t stop the show from portraying interesting male characters, ones who don’t always conform to stereotypical masculinity.

9. The adults in the show don’t treat the teenagers like children. They treat them like the young adults, who have been through a lot more than they should, that they are.

10. Superficially: everyone is pretty as fuck. Literally everyone. It’s a fucking wonderland.

Also, if you couldn’t tell how much I love this show, I’m naming my first born child after one of the characters.
