i also like to thing that when Hannibal told Will "i gave you a child" he also meant "i gave you a family" in the way that Hannibal had also been Will's wife
There's something so awfully sinister about the fact that Hannibal was locked up, and content to be so, and didn't try to stir up anything in his time in prison ... until he found out about Molly and Walter. And then he immediately sent someone to kill them. To get rid of them. To destroy this life Will made for himself that did not include Hannibal.
Molly being Will's wife was unacceptable. In fact, Hannibal quite literally couldn't accept it. Whenever he referred to her he always said "the wife". Not "your wife". The wife. Not only is it impersonal and dismissive, it also sounds an awful lot like "the woman you're married to but doesn't hold your heart" sounds an awful lot like "the woman you're married to that can't satisfy you like I can". True homewrecker behaviour Hannibal
And Walter... Walter was just a kid but Hannibal didn't care. Hannibal isn't above killing children, especially this one who dared to fulfil Will's fantasies of being a father that Hannibal felt he had full control and power over. Abigail was conditional on Will behaving (and got taken from Will for his betrayal). Margot's baby had to be gotten rid of because Hannibal hadn't given it to him. Hannibal hadn't given Walter to Will either. He had to be dealt with, just like Margot's baby.
Hannibal is genuinely so awful when he's jealous. We don't see it often - it's usually Will's jealousy that we see (with Alana, Bedelia, Randall etc.) but when Hannibal gets jealous it's terrifying.
I believe Abigail was a representation of a the possibility of a "normal" life for Will and Hannibal, together.
Like, i agree with some people in the thought that they had more of a connection with what she represented, than who she was. The thought of them being together.
Don't get me wrong i do feel like they had a connection with her (Hannibal cause she reminds him of Misha, and Will cause she brings his paternal side). But she was nothing more than a gift, in Hannibal's eyes. Something to give to Will, if he followed him to this life, or to take away if he felt betrayed.
So her death is even more meaningful if you think that it's basically Hannibal saying "If you can't have this life with me, then you can't have this life with anyone else". She dies, and their normal life dies with, like the stag did.
Will tried to keep her alive, cause he wanted that life. But he had been too late to that realization, the realization that he picked Hannibal. And Hannibal took that as him picking Jack
Will hallucinating Abigail was more of him trying to understand why he wanted to go after a man that had done so much harm to him, and to others. He found it hard to accept the fact he wanted to be/ become a terrible man.
Also,, I don't think she would survive a family life with them, she would die in Will's or maybe in Hannibal's hands (possibly as a show how devoted they are to each other, willing to kill).
Because no person can survive their relationship if not themselves.
So yeah, in all probabilities, Abigail (Father's joy), was destined to die in her father's arms, it was just a matter of which one.
Things I think happened during season two's therapy sessions/date nights we didn't get to see:
- Fucking, tbh.
- Sleepovers. We see scenes where they are drinking wine and it's raining and dark out, maybe some nights it was too late or the rain or snow was bad so H told Will to stay. He probably left early, maybe even before H woke up, but it could've happened okay??
- H telling Will about Mischa and his parents. We know Will knows more about Mischa because Chiyoh asks him something and he answers like he knows the story, so H told him and the "I let you know me, see me" was waaay too raw so yeah, 100% he opened his heart out to Will about the whole thing. I think Will also told H about his childhood.
- Casual talks about random shit. I bet Will changed the aftershave, or not but I bet they revived that conversation. Or about food preparation, preferences, too, I just know H wanted to know Will's favorite everythings.
- Little touches. Come on, H tucking a lose curl in those fireplace, wine nights? It happened. Will delicately touching H's lower back as he passed by a smaller space.
i keep seeing ppl talk about a fic like this, and i think it's a sign for how my fanfic should go
Hannigram fic idea: post fall, they don't fight each other over forgiveness, past events, Abigail or uncertainty over their feelings for each other.
They'll have to prove fate that they are going to stick together and never let go, though, even if their hands are bleeding.
kiss alts and cast commentary my beloved
The fact that Jack doesn't talk about the lamb. Cause he is too focused on the fight between him and Hannibal (and the Red Dragon), so he doesn't talk about Will, he doesn't care about Wills perspective or for his well being, for him Will is indeed just a tool, just fine china.
He only cares for Will when he needs to catch something, or someone. Then, he is back on the shelf, not even to be cared for.
But Hannibal reminds him of the Lamb. Cause for Hannibal, Will is extremely important. His becoming is the most important thing in Hannibal's life.
His wrath is not one to be looked over.
And at the end of the day, Will did push himself over the edge. As Jack was way too focused on the "big killers" to not notice him.
God's sacrificial lamb turned to the devil's side.
Hannigram is not queer bait, Will is
He is the queer at the end of the fishing hook, baiting Hannibal into biting it
OMG I NEED TO WRITE THIS-
hannigram au where you are born knowing your soulmate’s future biggest secret.
will has known his whole life about the "Chesapeake Ripper"-- the serial killer identity of his soulmate. he's had his time to come to terms with it. to accept that he will never be normal; but nor will his soulmate.
and so the first time the name shows up in the papers-- the first time his soulmate's kills appear as glossy exclusives on tattlecrime.com-- will makes goddamn sure that he's the first one assigned to investigate the case.
If she called them gay for going to Italy, man, she is going to have a field day with them running from the cops together (and living in cuba for years)
I imagine, after everything, she was like "Guys i told you they were going to run away together!! They are in love!!"
Just finished Hannibal. It was hella gay. Glad to see Freddie lounds’ ship has sailed. Little bummed she lived because she was annoying but u know what i think she girlbossed her way through like and who am i to stand in her way?
it's so funny cause you can see that they never watched the show, cause Hannibal draws self insert art of him and his boyfriend as Patroclus and Aquiles (no gayer thing on earth, but still the least gay thing they did)
Gen Z “Alpha-Bros” on TikTok idolizing Mads Mikkelsen’s Hannibal and wanting to be just like him is so funny to me because
1) That’s a fag
2) Hannibal would immediately put them on his list, though the meat would probably be too rancid to eat
3) Hannibal’s purest desire in this world is to be Will’s house-wife who wears a cute pink little apron with a bow on it and who always has supper on the table for when his husband gets back from fishing
