You must know… surely, you must know it was all for you. You are too generous to trifle with me. I believe you spoke with my aunt last night, and it has taught me to hope as I’d scarcely allowed myself before. If your feelings are still what they were last April, tell me so at once. My affections and wishes have not changed, but one word from you will silence me forever. If, however, your feelings have changed, I will have to tell you. You have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on.
Pride & Prejudice (2005) dir. Joe Wright
Alec was on his phone as he queued for coffee that cold February morning in his favorite cafe. Only stepping forward as the feet behind his screen moved away. He glanced up at the menu, despite ordering the same thing everyday for the last year. Halfway through another ridiculous buzz feed quiz, a lilting voice, dripping sass, asked him the most important question this early in the morning.
“What can I get you?“
Alec rattled off Izzy’s insane drink order and his simple large, black coffee.
“Hmm, tall, dark and bitter? Just how I like them.“
Alec’s head shot up, finally making eye contact with the barista. Well, he tried to but was immediately distracted by the man’s skull makeup. Smokey sockets surrounded deep brown eyes, highlighting the twinkle that Alec was certain must be pretty much permanent, black lips complete with heart-shaped dimples made the guys teeth look bright and sharp.
With a delicate eyebrow raised, the man smirked and Alec’s mouth went dry.
“Name?“
“Huh?” Alec replied eloquently.
“For the cup?“
“Oh! Alec.” He searched for a tag, finding ‘Magnus’ embroidered onto his apron.
“Thank you, Alec. The…elaborate one might take a minute, have a seat.” He handed off the labeled cups to his younger colleague and gestured to the counter space nearest him. Alec slid onto the stool and watched Magnus’ hands as he busied himself nearby, wiping down the counter and rearranging things needlessly. It was when he drifted close to him for the third time that Alec cleared his throat.
“So, what’s with the-” He waved his finger around his own face and Magnus frowned before he seemed to remember that he had a full face of makeup.
“It’s Halloween!” He flung his arms wide to gesticulated flamboyantly, complete with a small bow.
Alec knew he was staring but he couldn’t help but be fascinated by this ridiculous man. He cleared his throat. “Bit late, isn’t it?“
"It’s never too late for Halloween.” Magnus drawled with a wink and Alec had to admit the man had a point.
“You new?” Alec blurted out. “I mean, I haven’t seen you. I’d have noticed…I mean.” God, he was a moron.
“You’d have noticed, huh?” That damned smirk again made Alec’s face grow warm and he knew he was blushing, his ears were probably glowing by now. “I just moved here.”
Alec thanked whoever was watching that his idiocy was interrupted by his name being called. Before he could move, Magnus had dashed to the pick up area to intercept his cups for a moment then he leaned on the bar holding his out with a shy smile.
“Thank you for stopping by. Come again soon.”
Alec stuttered a thank you and proceeded to stumble off his stool. Face hot, he left clutching his drinks. He looked back for a moment to see Magnus give him a dainty wave as he watched him leave.
It wasn’t until Izzy hit him with a barrage of questions about who he had met, that he noticed, with a smile, the phone number scrawled along the side of his cup.
@justcallmeparadox It was very cool to have met you
Today at my school we had an assembly about internet predators and when I had said that most of my true friends are over the internet and they gave me a lecture about how “I don’t know who I’m talking to” blah blah. So please, if you aren’t a predator in any way, please reblog so i can prove a point.
Hmmmmmm
You know, one of the tragedies of real life is that there is no background music.
— Annie Proulx
If this world is real, although I will not insist that it is,
Then there should be a world where every character we pen is brought to life,
And yet another, wherein
We are only figments of their imagination.
A world where they see all the self-loathing and all the scars,
And they love it even when we cannot.
Another one wherein
They see our blind rage and our lashing out,
Where they are not blind to our faults,
And see they the scars we've inflicted on others in a mad, pained rampage
Where they see that our pain is no excuse, for the pain we cause others
Where they see us for the villains we've become
I do not know if this world is real, and I won't insist it to be so,
Therefore,
I do not know if the others can exist
But this thought alone, and memories of these lines,
That is enough for me to rein in my anger,
To love,
To let them fall in love with me.

The Round Table represents everything that separated Arthur from Uther. People repeatedly point out how Arthur isn't so different from Uther as he'd like to think, because he, too, shunned magic. But that is because of upbringing, and inputted thoughts.
Arthur believed in equality.
The first time he met Percival, he told him to call him Arthur instead of the expected address (my lord, sire, my king). When he first found the Round Table, Merlin was an inseparable part of it, even though he was his servant. This is because he remembered and agreed with what Gwaine said, "Nobility is defined by what you do, not by who you are." He married the servant girl, daughter of a condemned blacksmith, for goodness' sake, because she was wiser than most nobles.
Why he refused to accept sorcerers and magicians is because he did not see them as equal. Every single sorcerer he had met had betrayed him in one way or another, were dangerous people he needed to be careful around. Nimueh, the witch-hunter, Kara, Dragoon the Great, Mordred and his beloved Merlin. His mother and father both died of sorcery. He lost his half-sister to magic. They were criminals. Why would he allow sorcerers equal status if he wouldn't grant that to petty criminals or those acquitted of treason?
No, Arthur was fair to the very end.
He promised Dolma that he would remember there is no evil in sorcery, only in the hearts of men, and he forgave Merlin.
Thanks for adding me @my-ambivert-self !
1. I'm left handed.
2. I had written two small books of short stories when I was 9, which I threw away at 11 because at that time I thought it was more cringey than cute.
3. Christmas is my absolute favorite thing in the world, and coincidentally (I swear it's a coincidence) my favorite colors are green and red.
Thanks for the tag, @pluttskutt!
Rules: 3 random facts about yourself, then tag 7 people.
1. My favorite color is red, but I prefer to decorate with red.
2. My favorite movie series is Star Wars.
