I LOVE the soulmate trope where the soulmate’s name is written on their mate’s skin in their hand writing. But seriously? ALL of you have that in their best writing? Where is my story about someone with a doctor soulmate, who can’t read the name if their life depended on it? Where is my story where the illegible writing leads to low key anger that explodes when their mate finds them? WHERE ARE THEY?

Example:

“Oh my god! Did you say your name Wade Wilson? As in Wade Winston Wilson? Dude you’re my soulmate!”

*growls* “So you’re the little shit who couldn’t write if his life depended on it? You just had to be a doctor! Fucking fantastic! Thirty years with goddamn squiggle on my arm! Where the hell did you learn to write? Huh Dr. Webs?”

Why are they trying to be likeable? Ain’t nobody gonna believe them

A small rant(? essay?) about Matt from Eddsworld

I’ve always found it funny that the fandom portrays Matt as vain and stupid with no other personality traits (aside from extremely nice in some portrayals). However, in the show this couldn’t be more false.

Now, I know Matt’s vanity was a huge joke in both parts of Space Face, but it’s also hinted at that there’s more of a reason behind it. On many different occasions in Space Face Part 1 and Space Face Part 2, we see that Matt’s vanity depends on other people. The first is in the desire room. Matt’s desire? A bunch of Matts. One of them says, “I can tolerate your existence!” The next occasion is when Bai gets the two to fuel Matt’s vanity. Sure, it started powering up without their help, but it really kicked in when they started complimenting him. And when it was too much vanity and Tom said he didn’t like him? It tanked. And the grand finale? The explosion? That was caused by one little compliment from Tom. That being said, I’d like to point out that in Fun Dead, Matt leaves his entire novelty toy collection to Tom in the event he should die. Tom says that if he dies as well as Matt, he wants the collection burnt. Matt’s visibly upset by this. Now, I’d leave my proof that Matt is extremely OOC when the fandom portrays him, but I have further proof

On to how Matt is actually not all that dumb (and not always the nicest).

First, the obvious, Matt’s intelligence is shown somewhat in Zanta Claws 2 and 3, to a small extent. He questions how a car can fly (2) and points out how Tom’s plan is more than a little annoying and stupid (3). In WTFuture, he manages to take over the entire world and make himself the ruler and creator of just about everything in existence. Tell me it doesn’t take brains to pull that off, time travel or not. Go on, I dare ya. This isn’t the first time he’s pulled off something like that, either. He nearly starts a full-blown zombie apocalypse (and is a fully sentient zombie) in the Zombeh Attack Trilogy. He also brought together an entire zombie army. The fact that he’s killed his friends multiple times is proof enough that he’s no nicer than the rest of them, zombeh attack included.

With all that in mind, the general fandom portrayal just really strange to me, but maybe I’m looking too much into this. Who knows. I just thought I’d get this out.
