What's with the period of time between 2000 and 2009 where the shorthand for the year sucks to use? Like, i'm sure nobody remembers 9/11 as the event that happened in twenty 01, but twenty eleven is a completely reasoble way to refer to that year?

I hate the movie industry for a variety of reasons, but the biggest one is how all the movies feel.......cheesy? Im not sure how else to explain it, but every protagonist nowadays is always some average person, with nothing interesting about them below the surface level. And, every character has to be inconsistent comic relief. Like, we've seen so much success from movies that take themselves seroiusly that you'd think people would catch on.
