four years of no contact. it’s been four years since the two of you laid eyes on each other, yet that never stopped the ceaseless thoughts. after splitting to focus on your careers, you thought you would never see him again. it seemed the universe was aching to prove you wrong.

behind the scenes:

— with the band always busy and starting their tour, y/n always on the road working with person after person and business after business, and the others always bombarded with their own jobs, it has been 2 years since the entire friend group was at home at the same time. now everyone is finally at a standstill, and able to stay home for a bit!

— y/n and shinsou have hardly any ill will toward each other (that we know of…cough cough maybe we’ll find out cough cough) and can hang out with the others with hardly any issues.

— shinsou is a certified stalker and has kept up with y/n through their socials almost every single day, so he knew y/n would be back home before anyone else saw. (everyone else is aware of this and he claims he doesn’t.)

— on the other hand, y/n has done their best to forget about shinsou and doesn’t keep up with anything he does unless he’s talked about.

— katsuki and izuku picked y/n up from the airport. (even though bakugou likes to pretend he hates them.)

an: i wrote this while sitting in my car blaring steve lacy and chowing down on grocery store sushi after a shift at work. i feel so college girl rn (poor and bored)

when you’re starting your freshman year at college, you desperately search for a cheap dorming option, even if it’s some hole in the wall. when you see an ad posted for 4 people looking for a 5th dorm mate, you figure this is the best you’re gonna get. at least you have a place to live, right?

you laughed hard at your phone watching jirou battle kaminari in her comment section. it had been a good night and your past grievances were nearly forgotten.

you heard a couple car doors slam from the parking lot behind you and you turned to check out who else would possibly be at a children's park this late at night.

"fuck me, are you serious right now." your eyes widened when you spotted the group of boys led by a guilty looking red head.

when you turned to look at mina and jirou, they were already avoiding eye contact.

"did you guys set this up? oh my god!"

"to be fair, this was all kirishima's idea." jirou replied, raising her hands in defense.

"don't hate us. you wanted to talk to bakugou so we're making it happen." mina said with a smile plastered on her face as she grabbed you for a hug.

"I was not ready for this! why do you think I hadn't decided when to go home yet?"

"exactly. you were taking too long. just improv it!" mina replied, placing a kiss on your cheek.

when bakugou spotted you from across the park, he could feel his hands clamming up. he should have known there was something going on when the guys were so persistent about him going out.

"you're fucking joking." he said quietly to the 3 idiots in front of him.

"you wanted to talk to her right? you're welcome." kirishima said, keeping his pace. "we did this for both of you. just talk to her, bro. then we can all go home." he smiled over his shoulder at the red eyed boy.

when the boys made it to where you three stood, mina pushed you toward bakugou and they all walked away from the scene, leaving the two of you to stare awkwardly at each other.

"hi." you said quietly to him.

"hey." he responded, his knees threatening to give way under him.

"I actually can't fucking believe them." a laugh croaked out from your lips. were you making this awkward? should you just shut up?

"i'm sorry." he didn't even crack a smile. this was the most serious you'd seen him since you moved in. "I feel like shit. I said everything wrong and I couldn't even fucking explain myself right."

you stared at him and he held your gaze, thankful you even wanted to look at him.

"then explain it to me."

he sucked in a breath and thought about what to say. he'd been going over the words in his head for the past two days and all he could hope for now was that he didn't fuck it up again.

"you deserve better. that's what I was trying to say. I think you deserve to live with your friends and not in an apartment with fuck head college boys who don't know where their ass ends and begins." he watched your reaction closely, so far so good.

"I was really trying to say that I'm glad you chose to live with us. there were definitely a hell of a lot better options and yet you chose to live with us. I don't regret that. I like having you around." he shoved his hands in his pockets, attempting to calm himself down.

"I've thought about how things might be right now if you hadn't moved in, and I always think things would definitely be better for you. you worry about us too much, it’s fucking annoying." he said, realizing he should have worded the last part differently. "annoying in a good way."

you were mesmerized by his maturity. you'd never seen him own up to his own mistake like this, you almost felt a sense of pride. you smiled at him, relieved to finally hear what was going on in his brain.

"if I thought I deserved better I would have moved out already. how many times do I have to tell you that I love you guys?" you tilted your head at him and he shrugged his shoulders. you grabbed his shoulders and watched as his muscles relaxed. "if I were given another option to live literally anywhere else, I would still stay with you guys, I'm in too deep now." a giggle fled from your throat.

he let a slight smile form on his lips, thankful for his friends and their stupidly intrusive antics for putting this plan together.

"are we good?" he removed his hands from his pockets.

"we were never not good, katuski. don't confuse me like that ever again, you asshole." you let your hands rest by your side now.

he laughed at your words and looked down at his hands. if this had gone any other way he might have punched somebody in the head.

watching him fidget made you sick. you hated that he made himself this anxious over this. your arms wrapped around his neck and pulled him in close. his arms snaked around your waist before you even pulled him fully. he would never admit it, but this was the part of the conversation he was looking forward to the most. he rested his chin on your shoulder, enjoying the feeling of you breathing against him.

"can you please learn to talk to me about things? I know there's something going on with you." you spoke to him in the hug.

bakugou nodded his head and held you tighter.

"okay." was the only word he said and it was all you needed to hear.

"holy shit they're hugging." kaminari said as they all watched you two talk on the other side of the park.

"dude he's never hugged me in the seven years we've known each other." kirishima said, his mouth agape.

"she probably forced him. she's really good about manipulating people into giving her a hug." jirou stated with a laugh.

"are you kidding? look at them!" mina said pointing, "look at him specifically! none of that looks forced." the whole group nodded in agreement.

you and bakugou finished your conversation, the air between the both of you incredibly lighter. this felt good. really good. you didn't know how much longer you could go without having bakugou to talk to; thank god this was over.

the group welcomed you back as they all exclaimed about how right they were in creating their secret operation, and things were officially back to normal. the seven of you stayed at the park for another hour before you decided it was time to head back to your respective spaces.

you walked the girls back to jirou's car, hugging them tightly and thanking them profusely. you watched them drive away and rejoined the boys to walk to katsuki's car.

"shotgun!" you yelled, running quickly to the passenger door, waiting for it to be unlocked.

sero groaned and walked to the backseat door, standing next to you.

"maybe we should have just let you stay with the girls."

"oh fuck you." your hand made contact with his shoulder, pushing him slightly.

the car started and the music came on. you rolled your window down, causing the others to do the same as bakugou reversed out of the parking lot. he was looking over at you more than he looked at the road in front of him, a smile spread across his face as you hung out of your window, hair going every which way.

you returned back to the inside of the car, laughing as you saw the boys in the back placing bets on who would bark at the next person they saw. your eyes landed on katsuki who had one hand on the wheel and the other on the gear stick. the street lights illuminated him perfectly, making it incredibly easy to study his features while he stared at the road. you knew he was attractive but you always forgot just how enticing he was to look at. bakugou turned his head and made eye contact with you.

"what?" he asked with a chuckle.

"you're pretty." you said nonchalantly. you wondered if anyone had ever told him that.

"pretty?" he said with raised eyebrows.

you only shook your head in response and he went back to looking at the road, grateful it was dark outside so you couldn’t see his face flushed with red. you sat listening to the music for the rest of the car ride. you were happy to see your apartment building as the car was parked; sleeping in your own bed sounded like a dream right now. you climbed out of your seat, shutting the door behind you and walking around the front of the car. katsuki met you there as the others got out of the car too.

your eyes widened when bakugou lifted his hand, fixing your windblown hair and placing it in its proper place, a small smirk resting on his face.

"your hair looks like shit." he said with a laugh, leaving you by his car as he walked to the apartment. your eyes trailed after him as the other boys walked to you bringing you inside with them.

everyone was quick to say how glad they were at you being back home once you walked through the front door. you were glad to be back home too.

everyone made their way to their room and called out to each other, saying good night.

you and katsuki walked slowly, side by side to your rooms.

"thank you." you said to him when you reached your doors across from each other.

"for what?"

"for talking to me."

"thanks for listening."

"did you just thank me? oh my god who are you?" a laugh sounded from your lips.

"whatever dude. goodnight." bakugou responded, rolling his eyes as he smiled back at you.

"yeah goodnight."

you never imagined that you would crave to have him across the hall from you again.
