The final section of the book reads fastest (side characters galore! But sad Carlisle is a sad sight to see). Bella does a lot of standing around not saying much which in that bit works as we see lots of other characters interacting among themselves with minimal interference (for all that I’m shocked Bella is content to mostly watch, they must all have fascinating things to say even if they’re all serial murderers).

Everyone should have a grandfather with a rainbow pin

I need everyone to know that my grandpa, who is in his mid-seventies, wears a rainbow pin to church every Sunday. He does this because the family he ministers to has a gay son, and they wear similar pins to church, so he wanted to show solidarity. I haven't told my grandpa that I'm queer - mostly because he lives far away from me and it's never come up - but that makes this gesture even more meaningful to me. My grandpa doesn't wear a rainbow pin to church because his granddaughter is bi, he wears one because he wants his neighbors to feel safe and respected. I know it can feel like everyone over the age of 40 is hateful and unaccepting of us, especially when that hostility comes from our own family members. But if it helps, remember that someone's grandpa wears a rainbow pin to church for YOU. To show that you are welcome. You belong. You are loved just the way you are.

Some messages left by queer Palestinians who face annihilation by the Israeli government in their retaliation against Hamas. The Israeli government has dropped thousand of bombs, leveled streets, cut off water, gas, and electricity, bombed hospitals, ambulances, mandated evacuation and then bomb evacuees. There is no need for this government to employ these acts of collective punishment. The same logic that is used to condemn the acts of Hamas, should be used to condemn the actions of the Israeli government. No one deserves to slaughtered and dehumanized.

And keep in mind, that this terror is not unusual for the Palestinian people, and this is another horrific event in a decades long oppression and apartheid.
