This whole idea from Conservatives/the right in general that men are “leaders” is completely a farce even in their own groups, and I can speak to this firsthand because I grew up in it. Super Catholic, church services were all in Latin, women weren’t allowed to wear pants or cut their hair shorter than their shoulders, and they were sporting all of America’s current insane political views a decade before they became more popular. And men still did jack all.
I was running the church choir in all but name by the age of 14, despite the choir director being a man in his 20s. Women handled all the childcare and child rearing, women were the ones who organized everything. Who put up the decorations for each season. Who provided the food. Who kept the church clean and in repair. Who taught the children during Sunday School. They were the ones who made decisions for their families, the ones who kept tabs on everything, the ones who organized playdates and homeschool meetups and church potlucks. Women built everything and men only placed their stamp of approval on it to claim the work.
And I wish more people would WAKE UP to this realization. Being a leader means nothing if you aren’t actually working. Simply sitting on your ass and giving the occasional instruction is not true leadership, nor is it even the servant leadership Christ himself advocated for. Those men were completely useless in the grand scheme of things and we would have continued on without them with relative ease. They hold onto relevancy by forcing women to depend on them financially but that’s all they have to stand on. And it just pisses me off idk this is just a rant
I grew up Catholic so I have a bit more context (which unfortunately doesn’t make it much better).
Mary Magdalene was commonly assumed to have been a prostitute (which isn’t biblically supported and actually wasn’t commonly believed until a while after Christianity was formed). Even after her conversion she’s shown as nude because it was common belief that she lived nude as penance and only used her long hair as clothing. She’s actually quite often shown in various forms of nudity and seductive positioning in her artistic depictions because she’s basically the scapegoat due to her position as “prostitute” or later “penitent”.
The mind naturally wants to think about sex after you go through puberty and your libido picks up, but in Catholicism you quite literally are not allowed to think about it at all because that counts as “adultery of the mind”. The only time this rule doesn’t count is if you’re condemning someone for sexual sins. This is why you see Catholics (and more conservative Christian groups who have this same rule) absolutely obsessed with constantly thinking and talking about and condemning other people for having sex they don’t like. Their mind craves some type of release for the curiosity they have so they become incredibly fixated on it in a negative fashion because it’s the way to get around that rule. This also leads them to have incredibly toxic sexual relationships after they enter marriage and are finally able to have sex because men have associated sexual arousal with a level of disgust or distaste for the woman.
(In addition, women accidentally get around this rule because we are taught to be constantly afraid of sexual assault sullying our virginity, so the mind often focuses upon that fear, eventually associating sexual arousal with the idea of being violated, which is why you see so many of them encouraging or flaunting violating relationships online.)
Going back to depictions of Mary Magdalene, since she was a prostitute she was the men of the time’s way of getting around that rule. It doesn’t count as them being lustful if they’re also condemning her actions even as it arouses them. It’s why she was one of the most common subjects of religious painting outside of the usual patriarchal figures and Mary the mother of Jesus. The really ironic thing is that there is absolutely no proof of her being a prostitute. She was actually quite rich and supported Jesus monetarily, but people liked to assume she got the money through dishonest means instead of through any type of skill or labor, or frankly even just coming from a wealthy family.
Anyway sorry for the rant lol Mary Magdalene was my birth patron saint, and I’m still very attached to her and upset by how much she’s been slandered by the church even though I haven’t been Catholic for years now. Hopefully it was interesting.

Adding onto this, “No Ethical Consumption Under Capitalism” started in the punk community/more radical leftist spaces (to my awareness) as a way to call awareness to the hidden exploitations of capitalism and urge you to look more deeply and be responsible with your actions. Sure that $65 shirt can be greenwashed and said that it was sewn in an ethical factory with well-payed workers and environmentally positive policies, but where did they get the fabric from?
It’s supposed to be a call out against the system, but then it somehow got twisted by shein-guzzlers to excuse their actions. It’s supposed to be, “The system is so fucked that we’re forced to rely on slave labor at every turn whether we like it or not, so let’s call it out and push for change and do what we can.” Not an excuse to joyfully profit off of the underpaid labor of thousands and claim that we’re all on the same level.
Leaving the house to get your Temu parcel from the mailbox and wallowing in porn is not actually fighting fascism so jot that down
I’m abt to hit the crash out phase I can feel it approaching
Literally fixed my mental health by so much 😭😭 I didn’t realize how much forcing attraction to men was weighing me down and causing me to be out of touch with a lot of the rest of my personality because I would be constantly questioning my likes/dislikes. Now I just exist as myself and it’s amazing.
realizing I was a lesbian literally felt like this
And yet if you assume pronouns it’s also hurtful towards other people within the trans community?? This was one of my biggest issues when I used to think I was trans because it’s extremely “every man for himself” type ideology.
“I don’t like it when people check with me about how I’d like to be be treated so I’ll complain or even lash out at them.”
“Well I don’t like when people DONT check with me so I’ll complain or lash out at them.”
There’s no compassion for those of us trying to simply be respectful and accommodate you, and definitely no compassion for those within the community who have a different experience than you.
Also what type of work environment is allowing miniskirts? I have never found a job in my life that allows that so far, and never known a woman who wished to wear one to work.
This is in fact what everyone is thinking, yes. And policing language more won’t make it stop.
Women do not need to be in fear of harm or harassment to want a space to themselves.
This is something I’ve been thinking about a lot with the whole women’s only gym nightmare argument the past couple weeks. So much of it is focused on a back and forth of whether or not women are actually in much danger, and I’m going to go even more woke and say I think the danger is actually irrelevant to this question.
We shouldn’t have to prove that we’re terrified of being assaulted, shouldn’t have to cry and break down into an anxiety attack on camera as we relive our trauma to prove we deserve a space for ourselves. If we put our time and effort into building spaces for ourselves in this stupid fucking patriarchal world, we’re allowed to keep it solely for the reasoning of wanting to keep it. That’s enough.
The sense of entitlement towards women’s work genuinely needs to be studied.
people who hate on vi except when shes living her whole life slaving away for jinx and jinx’s well-being and being 100% selfless constantly is. interesting.
interesting bc i’m the oldest sister in my family and that’s exactly what my parents expect of me.
how odd and silly that some people continue to parentify older sisters and refuse to care about them as characters when they aren’t constantly putting their sibling first.
that’s how i feel whenever i see a post about how vi’s character was completely sacrificed and then the explanation is all abt how she chose caitlyn and not jinx for the nth time.
"misandrists are just as bad" i don't see men dying at alarming rates because @/i3atm3n4breakfast said she wishes they would shut the fuck up. i don't see men being forced to cover themselves and not being allowed to speak in public. i don't see them being denied education because they're men. but yes, they are totally alike
