- 24: tender ; 13: too loud -

Spring, 1853

Henry and Gabriel squeezed up in their hidding spot, not wanting to get caught as a bunch of students passed near them, one of their teachers leading the way. Gabriel realized at that moment just how close they were, and felt himself blushing. Fortunately, his friend was too busy watching if the the coast was clear; the moment he turned back to him, the brunette had managed to calm down. Their eyes met and Henry smiled almost shyly at him, leaning back against the wall with his hands in his back. The two ultimately averted their gaze and waited quietly, a smile still on their lips until their math teacher -the class they were supposed to attend to- walked by, complaining that he was “not paid enough for this”. Henry stiffened a laugh.

“Shh! You’ll get us caught!” Gabriel tried not to laugh with him.

“Sorry!” the blonde student chuckled. “I’m just so excited!”

The two did their best to contain themselves, and rushed outside the moment the courtyard was empty, running faster as they heard their own laughter echoing.

Summer 1886

Utterson pulled a laughing Jekyll by the hand. The lawyer held a finger to his lips with a “shh!”, grinning nonetheless, while they both ran downstairs and out in the gardens.

Once out of sight, the music and fuss of the party were no more than a distant echo, Jekyll snuggled against his lover and almost purred -in a very Hyde-like manner- when Utterson started caressing his hair. 

A silent gaze was shared and the two men kissed.

Time to make up for lost time.
