debating the presence of subtext

developing new interpretations of films that have been analyzed a thousand times

studying the cultural context of famous movies

picking apart a script and the ways it could be brought alive on screen

holding a movie marathon with your best friends

Took me until about halfway through college before I realized “study” means “play with the material in a variety of ways until you understand it” and not just “read the assigned chapters and do the homework” and I think that probably should have been discussed at some point prior to that.

What if sad poems are actually the happiest poems because of the catharsis they provide? What if sad poems grant the reader full permission to feel their loss? What if their pages hold a safe space to process emotions, to feel the feelings and release them? What if poetry is a kind of bloodletting?
